Hi Friends

Since i kept my LP's untouched for long time , since my old cart broke

i noticed that Jodha Akbar LP, got wrapped , and i can clearly see that the cart goes up and down trying to track it...

not sure what to do, cos it was one of my fav LP, specially for the song Qwaja mere Qwaaja

Not sure if anymore LP's got wrapped too.. did not check yet ...

I kept all the LP's in standing position only , not sure why it got wrapped

Hi..

You may try this. Put the record in between two 8mm thick glass plate and place them in sun light. This was suggested by one of my friend. Unfortunately I am not tried due to no direct sun light in my appartment.

You have to be very careful whenever you are dealing with heat & LPs at the same time. A little too much of the heat can melt the LP and render it unplayable.

If its playing ok, just let it be. Don't ever put your LPs or as a matter of fact, any plastic plate in the sun, it will get disfigured. Store your LPs carefully, vertically with side support (not side pressure).

Perfect. My opinion too. Once I tried to fix a warped LP by placing it under big heavy books overnight. I could not see any noticeable improvement in the warp after this process. Since, the LP plays fine, I chose it to be the way it is.

Once, as a child, I accidentally left an EP on my bed and went out. When I came back, I saw sunlight falling directly on half the EP and that half had already got disfigured. The EP was not even good for display purpose:indifferent14:

I have tried several methods and frankly none of them work perfectly. So take the suggestion of fellow FMs and if it's not bothering your music, leave it as it is and play without looking at it while playing. Just Listen and enjoy

Or get one URSR and central record clamp weight for playing such records. That will keep it clamped from edges.

Thank you friends for your valuable replies

will go with suggestion of "reubensm" at the moment and will
play without looking at it while playing. Just Listen and enjoy

The Jodha akbar lp is thinner and more likely to get wrapped..

I checked the other Lp's and they all are good

There are quite a few videos on YouTube on trying to set right a warped record right. Have a look.

But the question is - Is your warped record playing fine? How badly is it warped in terms of affecting quality of play?

Left my brand new Gary Glitter LP in the sun it got badly wraped, after 30 yrs of keeping standing pressed between records the condition is still the same.

same happended for me, I had a top gun LP and used to keep them slightly slanted, incidentally this was on one of the sides and on it rested a set of 78rpm records which are heavier and resulted in this 33rpm LP to be warped. I have now kept them between two LPs around the middle of the stack and no longer allow the 78rpms to rest on 33 rpms.

I kept the lp in between 4 glass plates ( 12 mm thichkess of each glass plate ), let us see if it works,

i would hate to do it again, i was not feeling good when it was playing, sad feeling while keeping it between the glass plates, they could have built it little thicker

they could have built it little thicker

It would not have made a difference. Vinyl is fragile, and warping from heat or wrong storage is just one of the risks.

Vinyl lovers just have to accept that, sometimes, it can lead to great sadness :(

Yes, tats exactly how iam feeling now

I noticed that when I have tried straightening warped record, there appears to a loss in quality especially when record is warmed by whatever means. Stopped all such experiments
