Hi All on HFV,

I have been following HFV for a while and I must say that am flabbergasted with the kind of knowledge, people have about audio components, systems and sound quality. I am not an audiophile and have been listening to very ordinary sounds, so far....but here I'm seeking advice from all the wise folks to suggest me a good 2.1 set-up, to enhance my HDTV output and listen to my favourite music. What are the best options available in Delhi/NCR. My Budget is a stretch 30K.:)

You can blindly opt for an onkyo ht s3500. Good value for money at 25k for 60% tv 40% music. But if you listen to music a lot more than watch tv then you'll have to increase budget for something decent.

Thanks, can you also suggest, what to go in for, if the priority is music. Also what you suggested is a 5.1 set-up. I was looking for a decent compact 2.1 system. Please advise.

Unless you are a true audiophile, a 5.1 setup sustains for music also. I suggest that you go and listen/audition various good 5.1 HTiB such as Onkyo HTS-3400/3500, Denon 1312-XP, Yamaha 196, etc.

When you are getting 5.1 in your specified budget, why restrict to 2.1?

He asked for 2.1 ----- as usual without reading suggesting!!!!:mad::ohyeah::ohyeah:

i suggest you to go this way as your preference is 2 channel.so much better sound can be have with this way than a entry level avr htib package.
will you please share your music source??
also your budget??
it will be better to suggest.
check norge sites for amp
sono amp--310/320.....
speakers
sonodyne sonus bookshelf 1501 V3
wharfedale 9 series or 10 series bookshelves

well a avr is future proof regarding hdmi....in that case an avr of 25k cost and a pair of spaekers about 10-15k cost will be the start.....now it depends on your budget.

Essentially will be connecting them to a TV, however will also listen to music connecting via a PC. Budget is around 30K

okay
what i understand your use.....
1.from hd set top box and watching tv serials and movie channels......
2.sometime from your pc 3.5mm female...
3.no dvd or downloded content as of now...

right??

Yes there will be, didn't mention since wasn't sure how will I be able to connect them...But my main source of moview viewing & music is downloaded content only...

okk.
one more quation..your room size, and about your dl contents..are they strictly 6 channels you prefer..about 5 GB min size....
also what you play in your dvd player..original dvds??
see there are 3 options.
1.25k avr hdmi,12k speakers......rest sub, rear, centre later while strong in budget.....
2.a int amp from norge or sonodyne costing within 13-14k....and a pair of speakers about 12k....
3.a non hdmi avr(you can get them at super cheap....) at 10k say....and speakers....well my favourite....as the cost is less and well capable of dolby digital...thats enough...

check..Mr kix is selling his onkyo non hdmi avr at 7.5k only......

Indeed I am looking to sell my AVR (Onkyo TX-DS747) for Rs. 7,500. It has original manual, original remote (but not the original box/packing). Shipping a 20kg unit to other places will be quite costly (about Rs. 1000 at least).

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
