What watch do you wear?

Nice collection Sid.

Btw, I no longer buy watches what with audiophillia leaving very little for another expensive hobby. This thread will be more interesting if FMs can post pics, I am having to google every time a member posts.

Thad, I too have a Skagen. Love their straps, very comfortable and look great.

We need a thread for pen collection too. I have a small collection of pens, pencils, sharpeners etc :)

Thank you sidvee.
It is interesting to read about everyone's collection, will have a look at the various watches to help me make my mind up for future.

I totally stopped quite a while back. My health was not good enough, and when it recovered I had got involved with other things.

have a problem - whenever I wore watches with steal strap, a bone in my wrist got irritated and used to swell. Leather strap causes sweating. Haven't worn one in years.

There used to be a saying

"You can judge a man's class by the watch and the shoes he wears"

Watches in general over the last 10 odd years has lost its sheen to Mobiles. Especially with the newer generation.
Most guys in their 20's would rather splurge on a phone than even remotely think of spending 20k-30k on a watch.

A yesteryear fashion statement has lost out to the overall functionality of a phone

Just saw this thread...
Hope I am allowed to say that...

I used to wear different Fastrack Models since my college time. That time, It was the best model I have ever dreamt of wearing a watch ;-)
Once upon a time, my watch got a problem...went to Fastrack repair center claiming that it's still under warranty. The service center guy told me that it can't be repaired because it is "FAST-TRACK" instead of Fastrack :) :)

Now a days, I wear a Giordano watch which I had bought at FashionAndYou in Rs.1 + Rs. 100 shipping charges :)

During school days from Class VII i was i used to have few digital Casio watches one had calculator on top, one had voice recorder, one had data bank, one had some snake game but given away most of them. Now I ve retained only the Omega Seamaster bought in 1998 having transparent back which I always liked for various reasons. Last year my sister and wife forced me to buy a new watch Casio Edifice.

I'm 25 and I would gladly spend on a good watch that suites my tastes instead of a phone. Mainly because if I buy a watch, I'm going to use it for at least a decade, not the case with a phone.

However I don't think I'm a good measure for the masses considering I upgraded my 5k INR Samsung e250 that I bought in 2005 finally this month in 2012 with a 28k inr Samsung Focus S that I picked up cheap for 10k.

I have 3 Seiko watches and 5 Swatches. My wife has one as does my daughter. The Swatch Irony especially the more understated designs are the poor/thinking man's Swiss watch. Superbly machined and finished and very very comfortable on the wrist. The underside of the watch has a subtle curve which enhances comfort. The Irony comes in 3 sizes - the largest size is a little too unweildly. The other two smaller sizes are really good.

The weakest part of the Swatch range is the plastic clear glass which tends to crack over time. I have two of these more than 13 years old with cracked glass, but they still keep time and I still like to wear them regularly. Unfortunately there seems to be no way to replace the glass, so when the glass completely breaks it would be the end of the watch.

The Seikos do have a bit of heritage but they tend to be a little whimsical. I have Omega seamaster inspired Seiko Automatic which looks really good and wears well, but the strap is not solid metal links but the cheaper looking sheet metal pressed into links variety. The Seiko 7s26A automatic movement is well regarded. For the price, Seiko quality is excellent and I can say the same for the Swatch.

You are definitely not a good measure for the masses. Your an exception to the rule :clapping::clapping:

I've always liked Timex and have around half a dozen assorted models along with some 80s Seiko5s and newer Casios. However, few years back I stumbled up my favorite watch...Citizen Skyhawk JY0030-52E (PMV65-2241)

Nice thread Kendun!
My collection:
1. Omega Speedmaster chrono automatic
2. Raymond Weil Don Giovanni Automatic
3. Tag Heuer Formula 1 Chrono Quartz
4. Mont Blanc Meisterstuck quartz
5. Seiko quartz chrono
I find myself using my automatics more and more, specifically the Omega - of-course since it is an automatic I need to wear it more often - otherwise I have to wind it. Do not have a watch winder yet.
Planning to acquire fairly soon (all automatics):
1. Panerai - any one that fits my wrist well
2. Tag Heuer Carrera
3. Breitling - Not too sure - but one of the aviator models
Wishlist:
Cartier Pasha
Patek Phillipe - the slim model
An IWC
Cheers,
Sid

Now THAT is some collection!
