Hi,

I'm planning to buy a 55" 3D LED TV this diwali .

Budget is 1.6 lacs .

I have shortlisted Samsung 55D6600WM , Sony 55EX720 & LG 55LW6500

I like to have a gloss screen and monolithic design but seems like there are no monolithic choices for 55" in my budget .

I saw Sony EX720 and disliked it coz of matte screen .
Also Saw LG passive 3D technology and was amazed .

So which TV should i go for .??

I could not find The sammy D6600 in my city , Is it a gloss screen .??

Reply asap .....:)

I am in same boat and finalyzed on 55" lw5700.. after hard bargaining I am getting for 128K with all the offers.

sony ex720 was closet but didn't like 3D at all.. not considered Samsung as it is not in my budget..

I would have bought Sony NX720 if it had available in 55" size.. due to monolithic design.

But as far a a brand is concerned I'm inclined towards Samsung or sony .

LG doesn't sell those much tvs as these two ...

Also LG is a matte screen :(

What to do .??

Samsung 55D8000 is for 1.88 lacs on letsbuy.com (with 5% discount coupon), and 55D6600 is for 1.43 lacs :)

Go for D8000 if you can - quite many difference in series 6 and 8 - read cnet reviews for more information

I have seen the 55" demo of of both Sony HX925 and Samsung D8000 side by side, trust me the Sony one is ahead by leaps and bound. It just mesmerises you by the picture quality.

The only thing that attracts towards Samsung is the slim frame. Attention is on the slick bezel all the time instead of the PQ.

Unfortunately both are 2 lac +

HX925 does have very good PQ but the D8000 isnt bad either... Anyway HX925 is 2.23 lacs & D8000 is 1.88lacs so there is a diff of 35k in the price...

@OP I would recommend you go for D8000 if u can stretch your budget by 30k or go for the D6600 for 1.42 lacs(on letsbuy with 5% coupon)... Its a beautiful TV & has much better PQ than the EX720... IF you are not adverse to the LG brand than W5700 is available for 1.25 lacs which makes it good VFM... But my personal pik would be D6600 :)...

Totally agree with this... If u can stretch ur budget than D8000... If you are on strict budget than within ur options D6600 is the best TV no doubt... One thing to consider is that you dont buy a TV everyday or even every year so its always better to try & get the best if possible :)...

But I cannot stretch my budget for > 1.5 lacs at max .

So m stuck with options either 55D6600 , 55EX720 & LW 5700 .....

How is the 55D6600 overall .??
Is it a gloss screen .??

And is the 3D on samsung as good as LG passive 3D .??

IMHO the 55EX720 will be a better bet amongst the choices available....also check if you cna get your hands on Sony HX800 as it was also a good one....might be available on big discount if someone has stock...

I couldnt watch 3D for more then 10 minutes at a stretch in the showroom due to the chaos and lights but of whatever i did the active 3D does a better job........its all upto an individual in the end

In grey market we do not get the warranty right .??

Also do u hav any idea of 55D6600 grey market price .?

Yes grey market means no warranty, most grey markets in india don't sell samsung tvs.
You could probably get a 55NX720 within your budget if bought via grey market.

The NX720 has the monolithic design and has a strong gorilla glass at the front, which is probably a must if have some low life neighbors kids damaging your property

Which is why i said the grey market.Sony india doesn't list 32CX520 now it also doesn't list the 40CX520 but you still get them from grey market.

Just because its not listed in sony india website doesn't mean its not available in the grey market.Sony india marketing team for some reason has not bought the 55NX720 to india and stopped selling the 40CX520.

Sony india like the grey market dealers import the tvs from Thailand or Malaysia
