Xiaomi to launch Mi TV Q1 75" on 23rd March - QLED, 192 Zones, 120Hz

Why are we even comparing a 1.19 lakhs Qled TV with a 2.25 (65") OLED TV.

MI has done a good job keeping the price low for a 75" TV.
I personally own a Mi 4 tv which was flagship at that time and loved the slim design. I like it and also admit it has faults mentioned above.

I woukd have ordered Q1 75" it by now if there were no lockdown restrictions during its launch. Nevertheless I got some time to rethink and do research, I figured that I want good detailed picture quality and fast response time for gaming. So for my purpose OLED is good.

To keep it short stop comparing Qled and OLED and instead see what you really need and what compromises are you willing to do for that. The comparison battle will never end. It was same when the LED TV's were launched, that time it was Plasma vs LED battle.
Good Luck with your purchase, you will definitely enjoy your purchase. When we first got our b7, we were in complete awe. Yeah we wanted something cinematic so went for size this time. Also I have always hated older mi tv as they were definitely inferior in upscaling, processing, quality but they were very vfm.

RGB OLEDs used in smart phone displays are superior to WGRB OLEDs used by consumer TVs If they (TV Panel manufacturers) can somehow learn to make long-lasting RGB OLED panels which don't cost a bomb then many like me will seriously consider buying it in the future.

Good luck mate with your purchase , BTW is it a Sony or LG since sadly we don't get Panasonic and Phillips OLEDs in India.

If you have the link to the content thats played while capturing those pics, please share. As we own the TV we can test and see if the MI Q1 75 can show those details or if they are lost in this tv as well.
Watch from 1 minute. But do note all you tube reviewers keep the picture preset to cinema mode. They do not use standard or vivid. They try to calibrate to reference image which most videophiles prefer. So if ur using standard and vivid u May see the details as in Oled but at the expense of colour accuracy or some mild blooming

Thank you. Will try this tomorrow in cinema mode to see how it looks, and try to capture.

Apparently someone posted that their Mi QLED 75's panel already got busted. Nothing mentioned on how, maybe physical damage maybe electric surge or maybe just panel simply got busted.

This is not good. And here starts the cheap Chinese product discussion
People are free to speak whatever they want. This issue is genuinely concerning although I really think build quality is something which mi q1 75 doesn't lack. Checking out reddit shows, hisense, TCL, sony all have these issue in abundance but yeah, one must be alert.

Unfortunate....but I feel this is sheer luck . While Samsung , LG and Sony might have better quality control , for me I have seen one Samsung panel lasting a decade bought in 2008 and another one going bust just after 1 year .

That's where extended warranty I feel becomes all the more important for panels worth over a lakh of rupees (irrespective of the brand).

True that mate, I was similarly impatient last year n had this OLED itch (YouTube hype) I just disregarded the advice to check out Falds from Sony n Samsung, i just had an entry level 55" Vu Premium 2019 n a 2011 Samsung 43 inches. Now compared to those two TVs LG CX in Store Mode looked obviously so much better plus as I mentioned I was very impatient so I pulled the trigger on it. Big mistake as I was never wowed by it and neither was my wife. As soon I set my eyes on Q95T n X950H I had the biggest case of buyers remorse.

Long story short : Impatience is never good and in India just like USA n Europe we should have the option of returning the TV within 15 days if you don't like the image quality.
But you have plunged in and booked without seeing the TV in person as far as I can remember which you have stated in the other thread

C825 is a miniLED in name and marketing only. The 55" and 65" models have only 128 and 160 dimming zones, which is less than many traditional FALD TVs.

Also it was supposed to launch in May which didn't happen. So it probably won't launch.
miniled refers to the light sources and not to the no. of dimming zones. I agree that the main purpose of switching to miniled was to increase the no. of dimming zones. If TCL has increased the no. of dimming zones wrt their other tvs then I think it is fine and they obviously have a different price point

There is no inherent technology difference in light sources between miniLED and regular FALD TVs. It's just that mini LEDs generally have smaller LEDs to fit more of them to get more dimming zones. However, it's not a strict rule. You can call any regular FALD TV a miniLED and no one can claim otherwise because there is no strict number or technology difference (correct me if I'm wrong here)

This is what TCL is doing. Calling a regular FALD as miniLED to gain marketing advantage. Also, C825 has significantly fewer dimming zones than their R635 (Which is a 6 series mind you) and Q825 from 2019. The only difference is that those TVs are only available in US and these overpriced ones outside US.

BTW, this is from TCL which itself says miniLED should have about 1000 zones:

True, extended warranty is always an appreciable thing. My Sony 1080p was busted in 1.5 years and it's still lying on the table. It's got bleeding edges and image retention issues but my father knew nothing about extended warranty that time.
My friends 2.5 lakh Samsung was busted in 3 months and he fought so much in the store that they refunded him all the money. Shit happens and mostly to unlucky people.

It's electronics and sheer luck, use it as much as you can in warranty to expose any niggles. Buy extended warranty too and sleep peacefully.

Between, i strongly feel tcl c825 will go the toshiba u8080 way. It won't be launching due to the price point being over 1l making it doa. Pricing elsewhere is a clear indication of the range at least when i checked the launch pricing in vietnam and europe/UK.

Been using the TV for a day and so far so good. Had a few queries for other users of these TV

- Sky sometimes is washed out ...instead of blue looks white . Any settings which makes this look better.

- is there a way to change settings while playing on tv. When I am connected to external source like Airtel xstream box , I can do that but it doesnot allow when using the Mi interface

- I am right now viewing this from 9 feet and the TV is on a table top. My table is 30 inches in height . While I have no issues viewing , does it make sense to get a lower height tv table (usually they are 18 feet). Will that make viewing experience better.

- How do I arrange tiles / home screen apps in the patch wall. Searched YouTube and other sites without much help

- I donot see any picture mode option when playing Dolby vision or HDR content from the mi tv interface. That shows up when playing from external source. Am I missing something.

- If I have to check the video info that is playing , how do I do that

Btw I changed the animation speed to 0.5x from developer option and that seems to have made things a tad bit better...a little more responsive UI.

Hi, MI QLED 75 has dynamic picture quality settings. You cannot change settings in the home menu. First play the content, keep long press mi button and then you will get picture adjust option.

Now in advanced picture settings please choose dci-p3 or bt.2020 as color gamut, this will fix your washed out look

Long pressing mi button and clicking on picture will show you what content you are currently playing, and for each type of content, you have to configure.
When you play Dolby Vision for example, you will get 2 picture mode, DV bright, DV dark
For HDR10 , you will get 3 options.
For SDR, you will get 3 options.

Btw external sources definitely show, what you are playing. Look this shows my Dolby Atmos with Dolby Vision.

I do plan to. May have to call their helpline to avail.
I spoke to Helpline and inquired about getting the extended warranty. I was asked to call the Toll Free number of Zopper (Third party).

I was given quotes ~9K for one year and ~13k for 2 years extended warranty.
Did anyone purchase it once you got the deliver?
I think, it was cheaper when it was offered by Mi. Screenshot of the quote attached

companies make a normal led to small pieces led and calling new micro led technology , Dolby Atmos vision market is over, this is new market gimmick for high end companies

Will be going for CX/G1 65" depending on the price difference. Waiting on price to drop after C1 is launched in India. Anyways i will have to wait for couple of months as I just bought Ps5

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
