Xiaomi to launch Mi TV Q1 75" on 23rd March - QLED, 192 Zones, 120Hz

And moreover top grade QLEDs are as costly as OLEDs if not more. So they might as well buy OLEDs for that price point. After going OLED, we can't turn back to these huffing and puffing to solve multiple problems related to LCD
Lot of folks have gone back from OLEDs to Qleds like I and Vikrant n vice versa... it's subjective as QLED and OLEDs both have limitations.

OLEDs obviously wins in black department n also viewing angles, while QLED is superior in brightness , has pure whites, more pleasing , richer n vibrant colours , better colour volume.

Why did I go for a new QLED after splurging on CX only 8 months back : I find that QLED apart from its traditional strengths is lately getting quite close to OLED blacks n thus offers a more all-round value for me.

Finally done guys.
11 percent window. 6500k white temperature.
1121 nits and 1086 nits on successive runs.

Could have saved money :(
Can you explain this in details if possible?

what software/hardware you have used and maybe the steps if possible in brief. also how much time it took you.

Ive realised over the years that picture and sound quality is very subjective for “normal” humans. Sure one model or technology might be technically better than the other, but what might seem like really bad/moderate quality to one might be pretty decent to another. I‘m not saying don’t discuss or constructively argue individuals models or technology, but learn to let go and don’t spoil the thread.

there is sunlight in my living room where the Q1 is kept so I don’t notice any blooming in the day. I only notice blooming at night. In dark room setting there is very mild blooming in super dark scenes and there is quite a lot of it in scenes with fireworks or similar scenes where multiple zones are lit.

the blooming is not very dramatic and is very generalised since the zones are fairly large. The FALD algorithm does a decent job. It’s an impressive qled but definitely not oled level good.

The reason for threads being spoiled and derailed are actually cause of qled fan boys with their false facts. Check the comment I made. Does it involve Oled? All I said was facts and boom triggered. Go check Sony,LG Oled threads and all u find is these qled fan boys crying about brightness. Very surprised by some folks in this forum. U talk facts u get accused of being a fan boy and spoiling the thread and when some one actually makes fan boy comments, spreads false information and they are being defended when questioned with facts.FYI the 1st image is the comment I made in this thread and the second image is from a Sony thread

This is my A8G.
Also I went today in showroom to check display for side by side comparison with Samsungs and lower models.

My observation - OLED has better picture quality but I was always asking for more brightness in the daytime. In day time, I found qled has much more vibrant colors and looked little better.
Also about blooming issue, I think it's there in qled and it's very mild and is highlighted when you see at different angles other than head on. Blacks on OLED were completely black but there were occasions where qled had little grey but majority of times qled was equal to OLED. Tried my honest opinion.

Qled better, worse or equal to Oled depends on many factors. Thumb rule is dark room and for enthusiasts with dedicated HT set up who are pixel picky Oled wins. The 3 dimensionality Oled gives in a dark room is un beatable. The black level, blooming being controlled in qled comes at a huge cost. Look at the level of details being crushed in the first 4 images. Look at the 5th and 6th image. Both are Samsung qleds. The previous model has more details reason being the latest model tries to give more blacks and aggressive dimming. I have never argued with any posting that they like qled and it’s the best. But certain facts are well discussed and accepted in the videophile community and when some one talks against it is when I try to share facts that’s all.

Agree with you Mohit. The blacks of OLED may spoil some people and they may dislike everything else.
Similarly some people may like over punchy bright colours and prefer that.
Similarly for example in the music industry, what audiophiles like may not be liked by common Indian who loves that overpowering bass.
It's really personal preference.

Thats what I have been maintaining through and through 'it is a personal choice' to say this is better we need to have a lot of objective criteria and reference grade equipment to calibrate and measure and pass judgement

Further lets talk about this particular TV. I think this is a great TV at this price point really good.

What is with this relentless name-calling and labelling fellow FMs QLED fanboys !!! I take objection n this should not be condoned , I expect such talk from insecure, petulant, bitter teenagers who spend 24x7 of there time holed up behind there computers being keyboard warriors on YouTube but not on an AV Forum !!!

Enough is enough now, I am putting this guy on my ignore list , It might appear to some as I am overeacting but I am like " Good Riddance"

Could any of the owners of this tv advise on the best possible settings specially for ott content. While I favor the cinema mode , is there something that would possibly make it better. I know picture settings vary as per individual preference but still any calibration settings for a better PQ would be highly appreciated. Thanks

I use vivid mode, I decrease the flesh tones so that the faces look very natural and then change the color gamut to bt.2020. increase contrast to 60. Decrease brightness to 48-49 from 50. Keep smoothing off. Enable contrast enhancement and disable adaptive Luma control. Then my whites are actually calibrated using refrence. You can keep warm if you can't calibrate. Sharpness to 12.
You should get great colors and blacks from this settings.

Backlight and Brightness set to 50. Dark room. The bloom is definitely there in some scenes, but not much visible to my eye unless i am looking for it and near the tv. And the cell phone camera captures it at ~100x more intensity than what i see with naked eye. So dont go based on the pictures you see on the internet, and think thats how good or bad it will look like in person.

Below are the videos i played, to capture the pics.

There will be positive and negative for oled and qled. Other than that, if you are looking for a 75 inch experience, in the budget segment, this tv is very good for an average person who is focused on content being watched.

If you are an enthusiast and picky about details and perfection, you may or may not be satisfied with this tv based on your personal preferences with colours, black levels, ambient lighting performance ,size etc.

My tv doesn't look like this at all. At 50 percent backlight I see no blooming.
Must be the camera which is showing so much.
BTW your colors look so off and washed out. I played the same video and took the photo. Looks even more black in real.

forget about the technicalities and just enjoy the TV. Please understand whatever are the good settings for one FM may not hold good for another. Secondly there are umpteen videos and reviews on the net and please note that most of them are doing it for the no of videos they need to put out and monetize their channel. A very few are by people who are actually unbiased and do the measurements and compare to the reference standard. So rather than posting images and arguing about which TV is better or at what settings you get a perfect picture it is better to enjoy the TV that you have bought and devote time for the tips and tricks and some issues which may be there.

Yes, even my TV doesnt look like what my samsung S10 captured :). All i wanted to say is dont trust the side by side comparision pics, a lot may also depend on which frame the camera captured and how its responding to blooming thats mostly invisible to the eye.
