Hi guys, new to the forum, Have made an enquiry and NV trading has quoted a price of 7990 without the antenna. I am supposed to pay it into their kotak mahindra bank account. from going through the thread I know the company is reliable. but i find the price i have been quoted to be lesser than what i have read through . So is it okay?

You can also check in ebay.in. There is an offer for 7940 with Wifi antenna + Some T shirt. Just now I ordered one there. If you have a ICICI credit card you can opt for 6 EMI's @ Rs 1333.

Hi Murali, That seems like a good offer. I would take a week or so to make my purchase. Please keep me posted about your delivery and what was the net cost with shipping. and also is the warranty thro' xtreamer india included, since the xtreamer site expressly mentions that the only way to buy is through their bank account. Also somwhere along the thread i read a post asking if the indian site was genuine or if sumit was just importing and reselling. Well for the record, the xtreamer international site has a listing of the indian site under it's dealers page.

I recently purchased Xtreamer and have it connected to my Sony Bravia 32 Full HD LCD, thru HDMI cable. Initially I had connected it thru composite cables and as expected the picture quality of videos was not great. Yesterday I connected it thru HDMI cable, but the results were not much different for SD avi files. I observed visible blockiness and somewhat blurry edges. Though, the HD files were great to watch. I also have Philips DVD player connected to my LCD thru component cables. The DVD player plays avi and divx files of SD resolution but not HD files. But the picture quality of the avi files are much better on my DVD player then on Xtreamer.

Is there any particular settings in Xtreamer to address this? Currently I have set Xtreamer to 1080p resolution. The picture settings are almost identical on my LCD for both these inputs.

Is your dvd also set to send 1080p?
I would say that you try passing 480p from xtreamer for SD content, and let the TV do the upconversion. If you send 1080p from xtreamer to TV, TV will ignore and not do any upscaling.

My DVD player doesnot have upscaling facility, so it passes SD content as it is and my TV does the upscaling. I would try setting Xtreamer to resolution 480p and check again. Hope it solves this

Also try the auto settings and then let it decide on its own the best resolutions supported by your display to playback a particular file.

guys, i have a query. I want to know if the xtreamer will play avi sd content run from a external dvd writer with it's own power supply and connected thro, a usb port. You see, i've got big chunk of my movie files in dvdrs and if it was possible to hook up directly, xtreamer would become a dvd player too.

Yes Xtreamer is capable of playing files and even DVDs through an external DVD Rom connected through it, so you should not have any problem in that department.

Placed an order for the xtreamer. After murali mentioned that he was getting it for 7940 with a tshirt offer thrown in, I wrote to Sumit. He said he would bundle in an HDMI or Optic cable. I guess the cable costs around 400. Since sumit's reliability has been vouched for more than once in this thread, i prefered that over ebay. This is roughly five hundred more than the ebay offer, but well, peace of mind is worth the 600 extra i guess!
Another question...Is it possible to acess the laptop hdd through the xtreamer to the flat panel or crtv(HDMI/Composite), with the audio to the HT, when the xtreamer is connected to the laptop via the slave usb port.In this case the xtreamer would act as a kind of pass through

No its not possible that way but you can stream contents from your computer connected over the same network as your Xtreamer to view contents on the big screen. The USB slave once connected to your computer makes it more like a USB HDD without the onscreen display from the Xtreamer GUI.

As Ashish said, what you can do is connect laptop and xtreamer over ethernet via a cross cat5 cable, or via a switch/ router, or over wireless.
Then you can share your laptop's harddisk, and xtreamer can play through network share. In theory it should work this way, I have never tried this myself though with xtreamer.

What you desire would mean your laptop should act as a usb slave to xtreamer.

Thanks guys. I ain't going wireless just yet, so i guess anm's tip, thro' ethernet would be my method of choice. But is a switch neceassary or could the connection be made directly from laptop port out to xtreamer port in. I guess i am sounding a little dumb asking so many questions even b'fore the unit arrives (today). but i'm kinda excited and impatient, since i've got some high def content which i am eagerly waiting to watch on my 50incher

direct should be possible with a cross cable.

Switch can help you in sharing your computer's internet as well as Data with other devices on your entertainment rack,if you connect the same via the Cross cable then you have to provide the IP Address manually as 192.168.0.1 with the Subnet Mask as 255.255.0.0 on your PC and to your Xtreamer you have provide the IP address as 192.168.0.2 and Subnet Mask as: 255.255.0.0. This type of connection would be an Ad-hoc connection between your PC and Xtreamer. If you are comfortable doing things manually then you should go without the switch.

Upgrade to 2.3.1 and change the Digital Output in A/V section of settings to DTS/AC3 5.1CH. That should fix it.

guys. i have bought my lcd ( 42'' lg lh60yr) speakers i had (z-5500)..now only thing left is extremer.outta money now...so plannin to get xtreamer without wifi..later on will ad it.

1. where can i buy it in hyderabad ?
2. is there any way i can pay through card. ?
3. where to get the optical & hdmi cable from ?
