Right now I am listening to ...

The Top Gun movie soundtrack. There is a newly mastered edition out which has all the ones in the old cd plus a few oldies which are hummed in the movie. These include great balls of fire, sitting on the dock of the bay, you've lost that lovin' feelin and an extended remix of 'playing with the boys', the Kenny loggins track.
I just love the Cheap trick single 'mighty wings' and 'Take my breath away' by Berlin.

My childern like the 'Rock On' album, but I found the recording quality to be too harsh.

I listened to this LP:

and "Tribute to Ahmad Faraz" CD 1/2, from EMI. (Could not find it online)

Both are quite refreshing in their own ways. The Ella LP surely has a better sound recording. The Ghazal CD is a mixed bag in terms of the sound, but even EMI Pakistan was doing a better job in the 1970's and 1980's than HMV/EMI India during the same period. Some of these ghazals have a very well recorded voice track. The minimal accompaniment works well too. Of course, the lyrics are excellent.

Thanks,
Sharad

Thanks to you even I will pull out my old CD once I am back home. Lots of OST albums that I need to "digitize" and add to the PC.

I also love Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins apart from the ones you have mentioned.

Sharad, the Tribute to Faraz is truly delightful. Had most of the cuts already on different albums, but bought the compilation anyway for sentimental reasons. And was amply rewarded, because the relatively clean, studio recording of Ghulam Ali's 'Juz Tere' on here is a vast improvement over the only other version of the song in my possession - a set of really dirty, 'bootleg' quality, live concert tapes by a British desi company called Oriental Star.

And, as you say, the lyrics make it all worthwhile. RIP Faraz sahib.

Dinyaar, I always find that Berlin track an enigma, because its clearly (to my sensibility) far and away superior to anything else the band ever managed to produce. Or maybe I need to go beyond the greatest hits package?

Maybe we should start a thread on 'one track I adore by artist I don't think much of otherwise' :)

Listening to Cream, live at the Oakland Coliseum Arena on Wolfgang's Vault.

This concert features blistering performances by all the 3 virtuosos, with awesome renderings of Crossroads, Sunshine Of Your Love and Spoonful. There could not be a better example of blues-rock fusion, this side of Led Zep...

What can one say about The Boss? Dancing In The Dark still gets me dancing. CD quality is not all that great though. Guess I am biased here since I had an original tape from the U.S. of the same album that was absolutely pristine in terms of SQ.

Moserw. it seems that you have virtually captured this thread like a 'Taliban'! Every day couple of posts without fail! How many CDs do you buy every day/week?

Just kidding please don't get offended.
