Right now I am listening to ...

That's easy ;) . I was born in Warwickshire :D

YouTube is your friend! Look for 5000 Spirits and The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter, for starters.

It's odd stuff. An acquired taste --- and some people don't!

Well, I have always had this bad habit of going out in the midday sun!

Do you know the song? YouTube can probably help there too. Noel Coward. Ah yes: here. What a load of tosh, eh?

Sorry about that Englishmen bit! :p
Nothing personal, so I hope you don't mind and take it in the right spirit !!

ALL-4-ONE - AND THE MUSIC SPEAKS

Released in 1995, this album was a disappointment after their brilliant debut album. The band sounds rather listless in this album. As though they'd just gone through the motions!

NOTEWORTHY TRACKS:These Arms, I can Love You Like That and I'm Your Man.

ANITA BAKER - THE BEST OF ANITA BAKER

One of the queens of R & B, she's released only 6 albums in a career spanning nearly three and a half decades. Every release since her second album had her fans crying for more! This album highlights some of her best hits although I can't understand why the record label released a truncated version of her popular Body and Soul.

I've always likened Anita Baker as the Greta Garbo of the music world, being the perfectionist that she is. In fact, her yet-to-be released album Only Forever is still in the making for over a year. I'm still looking forward to its release!

MARIAH CAREY - MUSIC BOX

Boy! What a vocal range!! Worth listening to this album every so often just for her Anytime You Need a Friend and Everything Fades Away just for the high notes she reaches. The first number still gives me the shivers when I listen to the track.

CELINE DION - LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE

Another great singer with a tremendous stage presence! The two duets, one with Barbra Streisand and the other with Pavarotti are outstanding. The duet with Streisand Tell Him reminds you of Honey (Streisand) and Mead (Dion).

GEORGE MICHAEL - OLDER

A sensitive singer with a sensible choice of songs. Wish there more singers like him today!!

Trip down memory lane..cool post:thumbsup:

Oh, indeed! No problem.

In fact I was rather shocked at Noel Coward's lyrics, including reference to Hindu and Bengal. In those days, nobody cared except that it rhymed.

Nothing extra-ordinary for that period of time and age! So one shouldn't be shocked at all, I feel. In that case, how about Enid Blyton's Noddy series books...? You could start from there if you like!
No. Let's leave all this narrow-mindedness, bigotry and parochialism to the people that thrive in it.

For starters we were here to discuss music, weren't we? So shall we? :ohyeah:

CELINE DION - FALLING INTO YOU
2 CD LIMITED EDITION ALBUM

BONUS CD TRACKS

1. Because You Loved Me
2. I Don't Know
3. Pour que tu m'aimes encore
4. Le ballet
5. The Power of the Dream

Released in 1996, this album smashed all records by reaching No.1 in almost all the major countries it was released in, and won two Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year in 1997. This album had a dream song list that delighted all Celine Dion fans.

NOTEWORTHY TRACKS: A Natural Woman, Falling into You, Because You Loved Me, It's All Coming Back to Me Now, All By Myself,
The Power of the Dream
. Honourable mentions - Seduces Me, River Deep Mountain High, Call The Man.

FOOTNOTE OF INTEREST: The Power of the Dream was first sung live by Celine Dion in the Opening Ceremony of the 1996 Summer Olympics.
Listen to Eric Carmen's own version of "All by Myself" which was used to such devastating background effect in the Nicole Kidman starrer "To Die For".
Every time I watch the music vid of It's All Coming Back To Me Now, I half-expect Meatloaf to spring out from some dark, secluded corner of the house, bats and all!!
I dont know how the 1st Australian Bonus CD version was released in India instead of the Asian CD version!

CELINE DION - A NEW DAY HAS COME

Released in the beginning of the new millenium (2002), this album also heralded the birth of Celine Dion's son. Hence the album's title. But I personally think it was a precursor of things to come. Celine Dion and the record label, perhaps for commercial reasons and to cater to the changing musical tastes of the newer generations, decided to experiment with other genres in this album by introducing Blues, Soul, R & B, Jazz and Pop. Which was a disappointment for millions of die-hard Celine Dion fans like me who expected her to continue with her strength and forte - Ballads and Love Songs. That was not to be and a subtle change in song/genre selection is discernible in this album.

NOTEWORTHY TRACKS: Ten Days, Goodbye's (The Saddest Word), I'm Alive, When the Wrong One Loves You Right, The Greatest Reward. Two beautiful ballads were also included in the album - I Surrender and Have You Ever Been in Love. Honourable mentions: At Last and Nature Boy, both of which are cover versions.

FOOTNOTE OF INTEREST: Somehow I'm not convinced of the suitability of Celine Dion's voice to sing Soul, Blues and Jazz. Perhaps I'm being influenced by Etta James' version of At Last. I have not been able to compare the different versions of the 1947/48 song Nature Boy properly.

CELINE DION - ONE HEART

This album was released in 2003 and was deemed a commercial success, as were all previous Celine Dion albums. However, this also sounded a significant departure from Celine Dion's leitmotif - Ballads and Love Songs, and could be termed a predominantly pop album. This was also the last Celine Dion album that I purchased!

I found this Lucky Ali compilation on Youtube yesterday and have been listening to it non-stop since. Brilliant stuff!

A Lucky fan. Started off with his cassettes back in school days. Heard it so many times that I had to buy more Sunoh cassttes. Now I have his CDs upto Kabhi Aisa Lagta Hai and OST CD tracks from Sur, Yuva/Aayutha Ezhuthu and Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai.

Olly42: :) I too like them a lot, especially 'everywhere' and 'big love' and 'gypsy'.

JAMIE WALTERS - JAMIE WALTERS

Jamie Walters is an American actor, singer, firefighter and record producer, best known for his roles on Beverly Hills, 90210 and The Heights and his No.1 single "How Do You Talk to an Angel". Jamie Walters is his self-titled debut album and was released in 1994. The album's first single "Hold On" reached No.16 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also achieved No.52 on the Billboard Year-End Hot 100 singles of 1995 list. The album sold over 1 million copies and was certified platinum.

A forgettable album from a singer with a passable voice, although his Hold On and Comfort of Strangers do manage to muster some praise. This album is best heard as a travel companion on a car journey.!
