Right now I am listening to ...

Too much live music! Don't even feel like picking up the headphones when I get home.

Even though the Chennai "Season" is over, have spent tonight and previous four evenings at carnatic concerts.

Oh how I wish that "too much live music" could be the worst problem I ever meet in life! :D

You really do these concerts in a big way, don't you? How I envy you!

TRISHA YEARWOOD - SONGBOOK
A Collection of Hits

This compilation of Trisha Yearwood's hits was released in 1997. This album was her 7th and the first to hit No.1 in the charts. Trisha Yearwood came into the limelight internationally after her song "How Do I Live" was added as a soundtrack of the Nicholas Cage starrer "Con Air".

FOOTNOTE OF INTEREST:
Q - What do Trisha Yearwood, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Martina McBride and Mindy McReady have in common?
A - All of them are New Age Country music singers who sound almost alike in voice, style, intonation and timbre. It's truly remarkable! Kellie Pickler and Sherrie Austin are placed closely behind with their younger-sounding voices.

I call this type of music New Age Country Music because of a noticeable departure from traditional country music by the addition of electronic and digital music instruments. The dobro, guitar and fiddle are given greater prominence but keyboards and drums have been added.

P.S. - Compare Trisha Yearwood's rendition of "How Do I Live" with that of Leann Rimes. The latter goes over the song in a business-like manner that is reminiscent of a military-medium pace bowler!! :ohyeah: Trisha Yearwoods version has a quality that seem to convey genuine feelings and pathos.

SHANIA TWAIN GREATEST HITS

A compilation album that was released in 2004. All the popular numbers of a very popular singer! There's nothing new that I can add here. This is just a repeat listen for me today..

I miss those days of Klaus meine and the boys screaming' he's a women she's a man!'
Now I'm aware that you are "fan"atic about heavy metal and hard rock... :)
The only album of the Scorpions I ever owned was Lovedrive. It was borrowed by friend who misplaced the cover with liner notes. That's because his "sisters wouldn't have approved of the cover", so he'd removed it!!
After many reminders the cover was not returned so I gave the CD to him. That was my last foray with the Scorpions! :p
As far as I can recall about the album, most songs were not exactly heavy metal but could be said to be a bit lower on the scale as hard rock/rock....
In earlier times I did listen to a bit of Black Sabbath, Iron Butterfly, King Crimson, Thin Lizzy and the like but somehow the "headbanging" didn't appeal to me much. So I dropped out!! I still have one or two LPs from those days in my possession though. :)

Hey there denom, sarith!

Thank you for the compliments. I'm really tickled pink...

Well, red actually!! :ohyeah:

I'm only getting on with the job of discussing my music and adding my own little views, that's all. I've seen so many wonderful albums being posted here. It's a pity that very few members have taken the trouble to add their personal views and opinions. These boards are there for us to freely discuss all things musical, so it would be very nice if these members could spare just a few minutes of their time to add a few lines to their album posts. It helps many others like me, for example, to broaden our musical outlook and to learn something new.

Sheryl Crow's anthem song, perhaps? :)

I like 007..I liked Brosnan..and so liked this song

Sheryl Crow - Tomorrow Never Dies - YouTube

WHAT? I DIDN'T KNOW THAT!!!

Sheryl Crow's voice sounded so uncharacteristic, unlike her normal self that it's hard to tell.... That's why this may have passed me by!

Well, thanks for this information. I was really unaware of this!

Actually, this is the second contestant who sang this song in the Australian version of the X Factor. A girl called Sally Chatfield sang this same song in 2010... :)

I really love listening to Christina Aguilera sing this song. She put a lot of emotion into it .... (And I'm not from the LGBT community!! :) And I have nothing against them either!!!)

Christina Aguilera sang a number of other forceful ballads, all of which I also enjoy listening to!

@ sarith - Here's someone whose music may do justice to Sheryl Crow

JOAN OSBORNE - RELISH

Joan Osborne's first studio album that was released in March 1995 and hit No.9 in the Billboard 200 chart. She is an American songwriter-singer. The song "One of Us" from this album also won her a Grammy nomination. Two tracks from this album were also used in TV serials. Overall, the album has a good collection of songs.

The lyrics of the song "One of Us" is a mix of earthiness and humour that bordered close to, (blasphemy for some, that is!!) and yet managed to stay out of any controversy -

ONE OF US

So one of these nights and about twelve o'clock
This old world's going to reel and rock
Saints will tremble and cry for pain
For the Lord's gonna come in his heavenly airplane

If God had a name, what would it be?
And would you call it to his face,
If you were faced with Him in all His glory?
What would you ask if you had just one question?

And yeah, yeah, God is great
Yeah, yeah, God is good
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us?
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make His way home?

If God had a face, what would it look like?
And would you want to see
If seeing meant that you would have to believe
In things like Heaven and in Jesus and the saints
And all the prophets? And...

Here's another song that one may get to like - "St. Teresa"

ST. TERESA

Sit down on the corner, just a little climb
When I make my money, got to get my dime
Sit down with her baby, wind is full of trash
She bold as the street light, dark and sweet as hash

Way down in the hollow, leavin' so soon
Oh, St. Teresa, higher than the moon

Reach down for the sweet stuff, when she looks at me
I know any man sees you like I see
Follow down the side street movin' single file
She say...
"That's where I'll hold you, sleepin' like a child"

Way down in the hollow, leavin' so soon
Oh, St. Teresa, higher than the moon

Just what I've been needin', feel it rise in me
She say...
"Every stone a story, like a rosary"
Corner St. Teresa, just a little crime
When I make my money, got to get my dime

Way down in the hollow, leavin' so soon
Oh, St. Teresa, higher than the moon

You called up in the sky
You called up in the clouds
Is there something you forgot to tell me...
Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me

Show me, my Teresa, feel it rise in me
Every stone a story, like a rosary

One of us..I don't remember how many times I have played this song. Just for the way she sings 'yeah, yeah, God is great
Yeah, yeah, God is good
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us?
Just a stranger on the bus

Feels new to the rest of the songs you mentioned. Was hearing it all and all are good.
