Connect to your TV via HDMI, Connect to your HT via Optical.

I used a very much similar thing on my Cubox i4 pro very long back and it worked well. Used primarily Kodi.

Just about to order for a Mi box 4K, I just logged into Xiaomi website (am already a registered user of Xiaomi since I purchased their Xiaomi 14 android phone few months back), but now it shows that Mi box is out of stock.
Have shown them my interest, and they will notify me when stock comes open again.
Alibaba.com has both Mi box 4K and Mi box S 2nd Gen (need to buy min 2 pieces), but the shipping charges are very high.
I will wait for new stock arrival either at Xiaomi store or Amazon.

For the last 6 months(may be even more), this box is not available in India(not even in mi store).. I don't think the stock will arrive.. Try to get outside india(if it's available) or olx.

No need to worry if reviews are good. For most Android boxes, India based reviews will be rare. Even the box I got from BestBuy wasn't heard about in India. But, It worked well for me.
In any case they are mostly similar, just check chipset being used and build quality. Software is Android anyways.

As I said in a previous post, ''Dailydeals365'' has got stock of Mi Box 4K the rate they quoted is Rs.4499 including taxes. Since this product is not available in any other online shops, I have decided to order one box with these guys.
However, just for a second thought, before registering with them, I wanted to check this online seller's activities/performance etc. and as such I simply googled to see some online reviews about them.
To my shock, Quora has got all negative reviews and some other sites also giving bad reviews about the Dailydeals365.
Anyway, after seeing all such reviews, I have now decided not to proceed my purchase with them, instead wait till stock available either at Xiaomi store or Amazon.

Why not just get a fire stick? I mean, what does the MI box offer that fire stick doesn't?

Fire stick has got only one HDMI port, which will be connected direct to the TV. Then I will have a problem in connecting my existing 5.1 channel Home theater, which does not have Bluetooth compatibility. (please note I am looking for an Android Box just because my Jio STB does not have an Audio out port and as such I was not able to connect the 5.1 channel).
When I checked about this with other sources, they advised me to do the connection as under:
Fire stick to HT by HDMI cable, and then HT to TV by HDMI cable. In this case, I need two HDMI ports in the HT, but my HT has only one HDMI (ARC out) port and one Optical port. (TV does not have any ARC or eARC ports but has optical port).
Mi Box comes with an Audio out port from which I can connect to my HT optical port using a Toslink to mini-toslink cable and then HT to TV via HDMI cable.

You Could connect Fire Stick to TV's HDMI Port and connect TV's optical output to HT optical input.

I already tried this sort of set up, i.e. Jio STB to TV and then TV to sound bar (by optical as well as HDMI) - only 2.1 audio working. Checked with Samsung technician for the reason, and he replied that since my TV does not have HDMI ARC port and unless I connect direct from STB or DTH cable audio out to Sound bar and then Sound bar HDMI ARC port to TV, I will not get 5.1 audio.?
So, doing similar set up from Fire stick (i.e. Fire stick to TV, Optical from TV to soundbar) will not get 5.1 audio output.
Some YouTube vloggers suggested to use HDMI Audio adaptor, extractor etc., but I am not confident and do not want to waste Rs.3/3500 for this new gadgets. Instead, I could buy another Android box with audio out port and easily connect to 5.1 channels. (Already wasted Rs. 500 buying the HDMI splitter which is not working)

Samsung 5 Series - LCD 46C550.
Old TV but still going strong (recently had minor problems and technician who attended it recommended not to give away this TV), hence do not want to change now.

I was showing interest to get an extractor some time back but was not confident whether it will work in my case or not, hence did not go for it.
Are you sure this will work with my STB ?
