Amazon fire stick 4k or Mi Box S

You will get 5.1 audio output if the content is outputting 5.1

Prior to Jio connection, I was using Tata Play and Airtel connections and those STB's has the Audio out port. Then the set-up was STB to Home theater and then Home theater to TV. I used to get 5.1 channel audio. Now, since the Jio STB does not have the audio out port, I have connected STB to TV and TV to Home theater and I get only 2.1 ch.

I have checked with Jio people who also said that 5.1 works if I connect via Bluetooth, but My system does not have Bluetooth feature.

This is 1080p only. It won't work with 4k input.
The ones below 1000 are 1080p only. If that works for you, as your TV is 1080p, it can work.

But it may not give you sound if the input signal is 4k.

Other options are, get a soundbar with HDMI in +HDMI out, or a TV with eARC :)

Both my TV & Home theater system working fine so prefer to keep them until one of them go dead.

In the meantime, I have seen a couple of YouTuber videos connecting Fire Stick without ARC ports.

1st connection: Connect Fire stick direct to Av Receiver/ Home theater / Sound bar HDMI port. Then connect another HDMI Cable from Home theater to TV HDMI port

2nd Connection through HDMI Audio Extractor convertor : Connect the Fire stick to HDMI IN port of the Convertor. Connect HDMI cable to TV from HDMI OUT port of Convertor. Connect optical cable between the optical port of Convertor and Home theater. 5.1 channel audio works in this set up.

Since I do not have 2 HDMI ports in my Home theater receiver, I have to go for 2nd option above.

The first one is 1080p only, and the second one says 4k. Read reviews. Some aren't positive

Fire stick 4k is there.

Thanks

I have seen reviews of both Microware and Tobo Audio extractors. Tobo has got more good reviews than Microware. Some of them have similar situation as I got now. Hope will go for Tobo (it's about 500 rupees cheap also).

Fire Stick 4K - yes, I have seen it this morning. My TV is fully HD (1080p) and do I need a 4k device? Will I get any benefit of connecting a 4K fire stick to a Full HD TV?

What are your suggestions - should I go for 4K or ordinary Stick?

The 4k is more powerful, better cpu, gpi and more RAM. It also has better audio and video codec support.

You may not see a difference in picture quality, but you will see better performance in app launches and less lag in the UI.

I just ordered two items with Amazon:

1- Amazon Fire Stick 4K - Rs.3999/- (Link in post No.45)
2- Tobo HDMI Audio Extractor, 4K@60Hz - Rs.1026/- (Link as given in post no.44)

Total amount: Rs.5025
Less Rs. 521 (credit card discount)

Total Payable: Rs.4504

When you get the fire stick, please try fire stick to TV HDMI and TV optical OUT to home theater optical IN. I am sure it would work. If it works, may be you could just return audio extractor.

That's my present set up (Jio STB to TV by HDMI and TV to Home theater by Optical cable), but I am getting only 3.1

The Samsung TV user manual says:

=Connect optical cable between the Digital audio out (optical) jack on your TV and Digital Audio input on the Home theater.

=When following the connection above, the optical jack only outputs 2 channel audio. You will only hear sound from the Home theater's front left and right speakers and the Subwoofer.

=If you want to hear 5.1 channel audio, connect the Optical jack on the DVD/ satellite box directly to the Amplifier or Home theater, not the TV.

It would have been nice if the Jio STB had an audio out port, then I could have connected it direct to Home theater by Optical and then Home theater to TV by HDMI cable.

I can avoid audio extractor, if my Home theater had 2 HDMI ports, which is not the case now.

Why don't you use Audio extractor with STB. FireStick is a redundant expense for you.

You mean, connect Jio STB to Audio extractor HDMI IN port, HDMI Out from Extractor to TV HDMI IN port and then Optical from Extractor to Home theater?

Will try this way, but I have seen a couple of reviews (Jio STB) and all of them were in the opinion that Jio STB does not have the 5.1 audio sound feature.

Also, I have sent many email messages to Jio care, Jio Air fiber support team and finally Jio Appellate team. All of them have advised to connect via Bluetooth for 5.1 channel audio. I guess they would have informed me to use the Extractor if at all it works for their STB?

If STB doesn't have 5.1 out via HDMI than you need FS/Box...

AFAIK Jio STB doesn't support 5.1 audio. Fire stick and Jio TV+ app is a good replacement

Yes, you are correct. Though many YouTube reviews confirmed it (Jio STB doesn't support 5.1), even Jio Support Team not able to confirm that their STB does support 5.1. They repeatedly asked me to connect via Bluetooth and never gave any alternatives, which itself confirm the fact.

Now, I am waiting for the FS and Extractor to test how it works.

That's the smartness of the support staff and all sales in general. Bluetooth can only give you 2.0, not even 2.1. Inspite of this we have sales people doing demo of 5.1.4 , 9.1.6 atmos soundbars using Bluetooth "See sir, amazing sound"

I was just going through my TV (Samsung) user manual and found the following:

Does this means that this TV has Dolby feature (My Sony Home theater has Dolby True HD feature)?
Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Vision are different?

Received the Amazon Fire stick 4K yesterday evening. Now waiting for Tobo HDMI Audio Extractor which expected tomorrow.

I'm not sure how you are going to get 5.1 sound out of Jio STB when it doesn't support that.

Still I'll be waiting for your experience with FS and audio extractor. I also have Jio STB and perhaps this is the only negative of it.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
