Android TV stick

Well there is a tool you download along with the room on your computer. Using this tool/program one can then flash the rom to the mk808

My Android stick has reached. Turns out it is mk808b and has Bluetooth in addition. Not sure if finless 1.6 ROM work on this, problems have been described with this particular model and finless on the net. The stock os works like a charm though and wifi is smooth.

Has anyone tried kewltv.net on MK808.???

Also need to know,

1. if anyone is facing any audio sync issues, that has been plagued on these Android Sticks. specially on flash videos
2. Wifi Drops
3. Webcam works ..???
4. Does this have an internal microphone ....??
5. skype works ..?? (people reporting green/pink screen during the call)
6. Broken Audio in Gtalk call.
7. Can you Hide the status bar
8. USB Ethernet .. does that work .???
9. Can be powered via TV USB itself.?

1.No audio sync issues yet. On youtube videos.
2. Wifi is pretty smooth, but then my router ifs in three same room, will try it on my TV in the floor below and get back to you
3.Will try tonight
4.No
5.have not tried yet.
6. Dunno
7.No.But if you change from stock OS to finless rom 1.6, you could.
Yet to try 8 n 9

Further observations on the MK808b
1. Wifi does not work one floor below and to the right. May well be related to the signal strength of my wifi router than the MK808b. Having said that the Asus O play air HDP3 does pick up the signal at that same place!
2. The stick requires a power supply ( has been provided) , it cannot be powered by the usb of the TV

On the plus side, 1080p rendering is excellent, pq is superb and hd videos and movies thru the device are superb in quality

I received the mk808 and first and foremost flashed it to finless 1.6 rom. Since then it's worked well. To answer a couple of your queries...

Wifi is not the strong point of these sticks. With this custom rom I get a stable 18mbps wifi link when there is just a wooden partition between the stick and the asus n16 router. Streaming 1080p mkv over wifi from home server was without any issues though.

For a better experience I am using a cheap usb ethernet adapter bought from eBay and a wired connection. Caveat being the ethernet switch has to be turned off and back on following every bootand the status bar still says no Internet connection even though it shows a ethernet symbol.

It can be powered using the television usb port but works best with at least a 5v 2a adapter. Mine shipped with one.

The status bar can be hidden and brought back on will in this rom.

Flash videos work without audio sync problem. iPlayer on bbc is broken though for some reason.

I have not bothered with Skype but lots have successfully used it on other forums.

There is a rom in the works with working xbmc with hw acc and kernel with cpu scaled to 1.4 ghz. Closely following that thread.

So far almost all apps I have tried work well. For a net price of 3k, this is a great device. I had to buy a mini hdmi to hdmi adapter, usb ethernet adapter and a usb wireless mouse to augment functionality. So still a shade under 4k... Very very promising to play with.

Not for those who like things working to order out of the box. It needs tinkering and constant upgrade to exploit the best out of this nifty yet delightful device

Mk808 b has a few glaring make and stability issues. The original mk808 enjoys maximum dev support so I chose to go for it. Just as the case with our Android phones
