Android TV stick

Well Leo, you made a Smart decision by deciding not to buy the "smart" TV :-)

Yes falcon, somehow I didn't feel it's worth spending 80k just for the smartness in tv, especially when I already have a 40" LCD .

Have ordered the mk808 from Amazon. Should reach me by the 10th Feb, being hand carried by a friend.

Lolz what timing... ips Site shows mine returned from customs in delhi on 5th so I am expecting it next week too.

Was reading on a special build of xbmc for Android which uses mx player externally for playing with HW Acc.

I have also called for a ethernet usb Dongle to use with this stick as the wifi still is choppy at best.

I guess the buggers from custom would have woken up from deep slumber and started processing all the items. I only hope and pray they did not open and tamper with the stuff. I heard people that they received empty packages.

Hurray .. I got my stick delivered today. Had to pay 309 bucks to the post man(that's OK). As per the customs rules i needn't pay but this is democracy and everyone can rob while they can.

Good thing is all the items are intact though the customs guys did open the package, they did seal everything back in order.

Let me play with it for some time and post pics and reviews a bit later.

Did initial round of testing, everything works fine. Was able to use my Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. WiFi Works fine, played couple of YouTube videos , awesome. The stock ROM is basic, need to upgrade to Finless 1.5A custom ROM which is pretty good. Need to run some more tests after upgrade. Overall i am happy.. Wish I could do more ,but need to work on a presentation to my Snr. Mgmt. scheduled on Monday , so will do the R&D next weekend. BTW i also ordered a HDMI switch(Pretty useful) as I have 2 HDMI ports on my TV and this gives an option to connect 3 devices at once and a Remote to switch.

Just wait for more updates from me. meanwhile few snaps of the product/unpacking.

Leo,
1. Where did u get the mk808 from? Is the power supply 230v?
2. And the hdmi switch from? And what did it cost?

My friend should be landing in Blore on Monday and I should be able to land my hands on the stick soon after!

Got it from dealextreme.com. Yes it supports 230V and the HDMI switch was 11.30 and MK808 was 53.40 + 309Rs (Custom Duty) ~ 3800 Rs.

Connected my Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse and Intex Webcam using a belkin USB 4 port HUB. Was able to make skype calls, everything works fine. I am using the Finless 1.5 ROM , need to upgrade to 1.6 cos i am sure it would be much better. Its awesome to browse net on a 40" LCD. Played some HD movie trailers of Youtube they rocked.
