Aramex Shop & Ship - Get anything from US/UK Toooooo much cheaper than Borderlinx

just bought a samsung galaxy vibrant from ebay.com and the shipping address is aramex us address, what i wan to know is what will be duty charged when receive it here.
the value of the phone is 13170 INR and its like new ( not new)

thnx
Arun

That is a BIG risk to take. Refurbished and used items (like new is previously used) are not allowed by Aramex for the simple reason that Customs might slap anti dumping charges on top of full customs duty on the perceived value of the phone, not on the valu you bought it for.

If you are lucky, it will pass through, else you will have to pay a hefty charges as customs.

hey has anyone tried Newegg with Aramex?

I am confused how to pay..
Is it possible to pay directly with CC? In that case Billing address and shipping address will differ, won't that create problem?

Same thing with Paypal..

Has anyone used it till now?

I think you will be able to buy stuff from newegg if you use ICC World. You will be paying ICCWorld with your CC/Indian Bank account and they will get the stuff for you from Newegg. I've used ICCWorld quite a few times and they have been very reliable (and reasonably priced).

I find them very lazy.. they take 4-5 days just to respond back with quote.
Anyways, i have sent them the request lets see..
Also, i have placed order on newegg, lets see what happens there as well.

Actually this time ICCWorld responded pretty fast, i already have quote from them. And yes, its really reasonable.

So now questions about service,
How is the delivery time?
Is it possible that they ask for more money before delivery (quote given is all-inclusive though)?

I see that you used them quite a few times, but still have a little doubt as full payment needs to be done in advance.
Plz advice..

I've answered in the other thread you posted in. Don't want to mess with the Aramex fans :D

I have bought some used electronic item from USA through ICC or even GEB.
No problem.
Usually the units are packed and no body know it is used or new(unless custom people open each and every box and packets).
Still,I am not willing to take risk with Aramex.:o

^^ I know of one occasion when a friend ordered a refurbished router from Amazon through iccworld. He received it without any issues. But I think caution is advised, considering the customs stand on refurbs.

Which is why I said that it all depends on your luck. I did hear of one guy in my company who ordered a refurbished high end router and ended up paying a ransom as anti dumping charges.

Depends on the day, time and luck when the item arrives at customs

Read your post.. their service looks promising! Looks like will place my order pretty soon :)

Anyways, me too an Aramex fan!! My last order of Captivate reached me within 10 days of placing order on ebay (comprising 2 weekends). I was definitely happy with their Customer service, fast response to queries/ issues.

I noticed in amazon if I place a order to deliver to aramex New York address they are charging tax, and it is quite a lot...Is there any way to get around this? But interestingly I placed a order in amazon which was fulfilled by Tiger Direct and they did not charge any tax for delivery in New york....

Yes its the NY state tax. Most probably.. since Tiger Direct has no physical presence in NY, it won't charge any tax whether its selling on Amazon or directly thru its website.

But do not order directly from Tigerdirect website. The order goes through and then it get rejected a few days later for using a US credit card, thankfully they never debit the card. Even tried ordering via Google checkout on their site, same result.

Scary time , aramex not processing requests sent 5days back ,
no one replies on time in facebook ,customer care numbers get auto reject , atleast in bangalore today ...

Second that..

I have ordered on TigerDirect using Google checkout, the order goes through Google Checkout and they even generate an Order No for TD. But that order no. has no significance since the order does not actually gets generated with TD. I havn't actually been charged on that but the transaction is still in pending since almost 2 weeks.

TD says they won't charge the CC as they are not aware of the order, Bank says they won't cancel transaction until 30 days.

Luckily I ordered through Amazon and fulfilled by Tiger Direct....Got the package over the weekend , all is well....but in this case if Amazon shipped directly to me it would have been cheaper.... but for this item there is no international delivery....

Bought a 6 inch Amazon Kindle from Amazon. Took a long 16 days and paid Rs7660 including shipping and customs:). Shopandship never bothered to answer my queries in these 16 days
