Aramex Shop & Ship - Get anything from US/UK Toooooo much cheaper than Borderlinx

Hello Guys!!
Shop and Ship India is all here for you specially to help you with your queries:)!!!
Regards
:yahoo:

Welcome to this forum, I have made several purchases via shop and ship. Overall I am satisfied except for soem ehavy customs duty on a few items. However my main question is that for lighter items like CD/DVD are there any plans for lesser shipping charges. Also are there any plans for grouping multiple deliveries into one shipment?

I have a question on the customs value declaration. Is it upto the buyer to declare the value? or does Aramex declare a value. How is this done? Apologies if it has been answered before as I couldn't find it.
Thanks,
Sid

I have got 2 local deliveries from Aramex yet and they have't been very nicely handled at all.

Got a Charger the box in which it came was totally crushed after I opened the parcel.

Another was a watch...probly was not handled well again and the watch broke when it arrived now there is a long process that I am going through to try and get a replacement from the seller.

I think can't blame it all to Aramex seller should also try and do more proper packaging and not take it fr granted that courier co. would handel their products super carefully. Though delicate products should be handled carefully.

delivered one tweeter 144USD ie 6.5K item with customs + shipping = 2300Rs whoa ... loot at day time ! no customs papers given ? item weight .75lb
international aramex take 100Rs -300 Rs for small parcels .. indian fixed at 500+Rs . i am very sad for this .

fortunately it was not for me

How do we know if a consignment reaches the UK/ US address? Is there any auto alert? In other words, how would we know when to make the payments for shipping to India?

There is an email alert when it is dispatched from US / UK aramex account. You can also pay on delivery the shipping charges as cash. Customs will have to be paid if any only during delivery in cash

@santy, you can also see the progress of the package in your shopandship account.

Every event, right from the receipt of the packet at the Aramex office (UK/US/China) is logged in the account, under your package reference.

As haisaikat said, you will get an email informing you that the packet has been sent to India, once it is sent from the Aramex office abroad.

The shipping charges will be displayed in your SnS account, against each packet, with the option to pay the charges online. You can make payment of the shipping charges online, once the packet has been shipped from the Aramex office in US/UK/China, which is when the charges get updated online. Or you can pay the charges at the point of delivery.

Thanks hydra and haisaikat, I have registered using the discount code. I am quite wary of their customer service. The no. is always busy and if they pickup, they transferred the line and put on hold for a long time. I could not find an email id for customer support. This is strange; it gives indications that they either care little or they have no resources to handle.

I have imported a ton of stuff from Aramex shop and ship (mostly Amazon purchases) but had my first bad experience last week. I had bought a wireless router for $30 was hoping that it would get past the customs without any levies. In spite of my sending the invoice to Aramex (the original marketplace seller had not included a proper invoice), the item was valued at > $100 and I had to pay Rs 1350 as custom duties. The kind of people I had to deal with did not want to talk about anything other than collecting the money.

Looks like their business is good and they are becoming careless.

Addendum to above offer :

This offer will not be applicable if you pay the shipping charges with your credit card Online.

I guess then you can pay the shipping charges by cash on delivery.

Received email regarding the offer-

"All your shipments which will hit the origin facility on or after 1st and before 31st October is eligible for the discount.
The discount will be adjusted in your bill on delivery. please read the conditions too.
It will be applicable on each Air way bill irrespective of the dates you buy them."

Another chance of group buy.

The catch here is that the weight is average of the last few shipments. One cannot ship a few light weight packages followed by one big one to make use of the 50% off on the 10th.

I got a update email from Ship&Shop-

"1)The duty on mobile phones is now 2.3 % on the customs assessed value

2) Any kind of supplements , medicines , body building supplements, vitamins or any such consumables will attract a duty of 51 % on the assessed value and an extra charge of 2000 INR will also apply."

Yes after entering the card number only it will show the final page with shipping price.

I am sure the shipping cost i tried for an normal Panasonic bluray player(hopefully for irrespective any brand) it showed be $20 + deposit for customs value(which is refundable on paying of the customs fee from your end to the delivered agent-DHL or UPS or USPS( 8 to 16 days shipping)

I tried now for Oppo-93 and shipping cost showing as $58.xx by expediting shipping and by priority shipping(2 to 4 days) as $137.xx

Tried Panasonic DMP-BDT210 and the shipping cost by expedited shipping is $22.75 and by priority $51

With the shown price nobody can match this..Damn cheap..

Bro...

Did u order any item from amazon directly?? How was the experience??
Would like to order an Oppo, but confused abt which method to go!!

SNS route or direct amazon route...

anyone tried iccword too??I have been shopping with them from pretty long time, but this looks interesting.. any experience??

iccworld is hasslefree and more secure if you order through GEB. I haven't tried ordering directly from iccworld. However, this can be cheaper for small objects, especially if you can manage to get it cleared as a gift. I ordered a $50 watch which came within 7 days, and there were no duties. On the downside, there was a small dent on the tin casing, but luckily no damage to the watch itself. Can't say if the seller didn't package it properly, or aramex repackaged it. In any case, avoid fragile things and things that don't come in a retail packing.

Edit: By more secure, I am referring to ebay's buyer protection. I'm not sure how claims will be handled in case of transit damage/defects with Aramex.
