Bravia HX850 successor -W900A with Quantum Dot !

W800 does not have the display components that made the HX850 such a success. In fact, it is having a hard time matching its own predecessor hx750.
so true hx750 has 240 hz refresh rate n indications are w800a has 120hz:sad:

This is what I am talking about.

Horrendous clouding!!!!!! Yes, on the w802.

I think its better to wait for w900a hopefully sony would get the pricing right , i had almost madeup my mind to go for w800

Where did you get that picture from mayhem ?

I think that's a faulty set. From what I've read most owners don't see any clouding, only a few with faulty sets do.

Saw this in another forum where the guy got his TV just 2 days back. Another one reported faulty viewing angles.

I hope its just one of those faulty sets.

According to cnet, w900 is the only model in 2013 ,that uses the same edgelit leds with local dimming, as the one used by the great hx850.
This is a shame ,as it is sony's tradition to include a previous year's successful premium PQ processing into the next year's more affordable tvs.
I expected some goodness of hx850 in w850:mad:

I'm a bit apprehensive about the w800 and w650. Will demo the w800 when its available locally.

Any info on the latest prices of hx750 and hx 850?

There is one. This time they have put the XReality Pro in the w800 which was missing in last year's mid range. This will lead to better up-scaling of SD content,no doubt about that, but what about the other stuff which were already perfected in the previous iteration like contrast, deep black levels, etc.

Thats exactly my point. A successful technology like the local dimming of hx850 will always remain a premium I guess.
A PQ enthusiast who cannot afford a w900a has no other option but to go for a cheaper value option like sammy 51f8500 for bright rooms or the well acclaimed st60 for moderately lit rooms.

Totally agree with you on this.

Well, they may be cheaper but are superior in some ways. F8500 and ST60 have better black level/contrast and viewing angles compared to W900. Whereas W900 will have better colors than both due to Triluminos.
