/46/55.

Only W800 comes in 42/47/55.

EDIT:

There won't be any 40W900A sold in Asia pacific. Only 46" and 55" W900 has been updated on Sony asian sites and no 40" available.

From the looks of it, the 55 in avatar of the W900 series is all set to be priced between 2.3 to 2.5 or thereabouts. Serious fail, if you consider that two of Sammy's 60 inchers are below 2.25 on Reliance Digital. Sony, please get it right.

The launch date is available on Sony's JPN site - 01-JUN-2013.

PS: How long does it take the cheapest freighter to reach India from Japan?

Sony is trying to put across this message "This TV is only for the PURISTS. If you want it you'll have to pay for it". This used to worked for SONY in the past (Walkman and Triniton days), it surely won't work now.

By-the-way, another review - WHATHiFi

Ah. The review is a blow to a sony fan like myself than to Sony itself.
My favourite review house till date has been whathifi and expected a full 5 stars for w900. Alas!! It is a shame.
The two points that I could not forgive are 1. Black details.
2. Fake blue sky.
A dull or bleached picture is acceptable but a blue that makes the sky appear to be a fake is horrendous.
I take back my words that w900 would be the best tv of 2013.
I would also advice people to grab any leftover hx850s .

Update: Croma says the W900A is arriving "definately" before 1st June.

All reviews are raving about the set, with harsh words for viewing angles and 3D crosstalk. Too early to speculate, and comment, but would Sony leave out something so glaring in their flagship?

Check the set with your own eyes when it comes out. Don't trust reviews alone. What is bad for the reviewer, may be acceptable or even good for you.

HDTVPolska measured ANSI Contrast on the W900 and got a measurement of 3650:1. That is much higher than 2200:1 of HX850 and slightly better than even the HX950 - 3500:1.

:)

To fully experience these new Sony Quantum Dot tvs expanded color palette , one need to use the Sony new Blu Ray movies which support the Sony X.V color standard or shoot in the cameras that support this format including new Sony Xperia phones.

These tvs will be leading the race when the proposed IEC2020 color space for 4k tvs is standardized.Currently none of the tvs in the market other then the Sony TriLuminos HDTV can show this much of a wide color palette.

I am starting to worry about the performance in standard color space. For me natural blue for example (ofcourse with shades from dawn to dusk) is the preferred choice.
I even switch off "deep color" in my bd player.
Previous day I saw the 18lakh sony tv in bajaj showroom. It was scintillating.
The demo video shows a small girl wandering in a vast grassland.
The grass was shown with various shades of green.
But I felt that something natural was definitely missing. The same was with the sky.
It was like ,we stand there appreciating the prowess of the Sony but miss the joy of the grandeur.

Looks like W900a has a wow effect from all the reveiws so far ,outstanding picture quality is all we need rather than any smart tv features, hopefully prices when launched would be same as hx850

The performance in standard REC709 color space is nothing short of excellent even with live color switched OFF.Plasma which have the CMS controls are a hair better. If one doesn't have the prior objective data of these tvs ,i seriously doubt anyone who seeing these tvs with their eyes can determine which is more accurate in colors between this and other tvs including plasma once they are calibrated.

Suppose we travel in an avenue that has trees lush with green leaves, we immediately feel a soothing effect. Technical colour shades will never give this effect. Thats what I am talking about.
Natural greens and blues are the heart of colour reproduction by a tv.
Afterall, the greatness of a tv lies in placing the viewer inside the scene.

Like i said once they are calibrated you can't see much different between the tv especially on flagship models with local dimming.
