Bravia HX850 successor -W900A with Quantum Dot !

Good decision. Ignorance is bliss, so better leave it at that in some cases.

Btw, hope to see Sony improve on their fantastic HX850.

USB playback. I posted earlier that 2013 Bravia range supports playback of almost all video formats including mkv.

You can see the feature being mentioned in Sony sites as "Bravia Multi Format USB playback".

Great. :)
What else do we need. Sony is all set to capture No.1 LED LCD TV spot this year as well.

Yes I saw that as well. :)
And did you notice the TVs that were involved in the comparison, the beloved HX850 and the flagship of a rival company. This itself is an achievement.
I am really excited man.

Still, this was a personal review. Lets wait for reviews from the other professional sites.

various websites ans forums say early spring from my knowledge spring starts from 23rd march hopefully wud be around dat time

HX950 was announced 3rd quarter of 2012 and was available in 4th quarter so i don't see a replacement coming for another 6 months and i don't think Sony will launch the HX950 in india.

HX950 has also been discontinued. There won't be a replacement until around August. So until then W900A is the Sony's flagship Bravia.

But who cares about what other people think about IPS or what the dealers say about IPS.
The fact is IPS panels have poor blacks ,unless they have local dimming.I guess the LG panels must have a really low OEM price compared to the VA panels.

Even AUO AMVA panels now have passive 3d.

It may surprise you, but actually LG LED TVs are mass products - they are not making it to satisfy a limited number of enthusiasts. Ask 100 people on street - and probably not one of them will know what "black-level" means. Nor does it matter that much - unless you are a movie aficionado that likes to watch Hollywood movies. For Indian conditions - where people watch soaps, sports and everything else, an exemplary black level is not going to do much good either. Of course, that is not to say that IPS panels have poor black levels. And they have other strengths that other types of panels do not have - for example, better color reproduction , less color wash etc.

haha, point very well made in a humourous manner :D
I think now a days LG makes this a prime selling point for selling their LEDs and must say people do fall for it :)

Refer to above

Why is Sony using LG panels???
Is it to bring down the manufacturing cost?
Are they confidant of their processing to mask any panel related PQ issues?
What is happenning to Sony's stature?:o

I do not understand this mentality - in one statement, people will almost rue the fact that TVs are expensive, and in the next, they will pan the TV makers if they try to bring costs down - as if there is something divine about expensive TVs. Trying to economize is not a bad thing at all - unless it results in a fall in product quality. If you seem to have been taken in by the hype that IPS panels = cheap = bad, then good luck to you - you will perhaps shun iPad too - because even Apple uses IPS panels in their tablets. Not because they are cheaper, but they offer certain advantages over other types - sometimes it is better to get horses for course, rather than toeing the line. Regarding Sony's stature - you will know about it IF you really want to know about it - no need telling!

How do you know that sony is using lg's panel?

Sony is using IPS panels made by LG, and OLED panels made with/by Panasonic. This knowledge is in common domain - you don't need to have internal sources in companies for it. Just ask Google.

Actually I do not know anything about IPS panels. My comment was more of pulling legs of Sony worshippers. I personally am a Sony fan to a certain extent. It is not about the actual quality of IPS panels but the moment it is associated with LG it becomes something of poorer quality for the worshippers.

But I am wondering why did LG attain this stature. I agree that it mass produces TVs and it is good for soap operas and regular stuff. I understand that nobody cares for black levels. But that's not the way evolution works.

Three years ago, when I went to buy a 46 inch led, I was shown sammy and lg side by side playing full hd videos. It was quite visible that lg was not resolving all the details of the image. Sammy was doing a good job. Still the sales guy was pestering me to go with LG. I remember he was invoking the IPS manthra.
