Building a dedicated HT room on the terrace

We are getting our house constructed for 1275 Rs / sft.
The cost depends on what is offered by the builder and on the materials used.

yes agree, even here in NCR 1200-1300 psf is considered good for a decent house. 1500 if you want to go for expensive elite material.

The higher cost he told was for shifting the materials to the top of 2nd floor. Second, very few people came forward to take up the work as this was just a room with a bath attached. We even had trouble to get a centering guy to supply the metal sheets as the area was less.

This room is like the 3rd floor. The house is now ground+ 3. There was some extra effort also involved to plaster / paint one side which had no support and a wooden structure had to be built from ground up to support the workers.

Prem, How you are managing to remove the black bars in 16:9 ratio screen. Is there any way without using anamorphic lense. If we use 2.35:1 screen can we manage?

^^ Without anamorphic lense, combination of lens shift and projector zoom is the only way I guess. I am not an expert on this (yet!) but correct me if I am wrong ... that is also the main deciding factor when choosing a projector.

Actually I am also confused on that point. I think we need to start separate thread on this topic. or is there any existing thread available on this forum.
Which ration is best 2.35:1 or 16:9?

I am afraid its not that simple ..... lots of movies are 16:9 format as well. (infact TV is not 16:9 in india only HD channels, and we all know how many HD channels we have) So if he decides to go for 2.35:1 and play a 16:9 movie, what will happen, black bars on top and bottom of the screen .....

there are other factors as well, but that might go beyond the scope of this thread ....

As 2.35:1 is wider than 16:9, I think the black will come on the sides and not on top and bottoms of the screen.
That is because 2.35:1 is equivalent to 21.15 : 9 :)

Sorry all for the late reply, was away on a mini break.

To be really frank, I never thought about these... I played my BD player and just marked the borders from the default Home screen.

16: 9 plays with the black borders and other ones fit the full screen.

apologies what I meant was play 2.35:1 content on a 16:9 screen, that will land up black bars on top and bottom .... thanks for correcting me ...:)

Long time no posts, anyways the updates that should be in this thread is my ceiling mount and UPS. A brand called zippo brought from ebay at Rs. 900 and had a Rs. 200 off coupon. Effective price R. 700, sturdly built and rotates 360 as well as up and down motion.

UPS is APC 1100 for the projector alone. Cost me Rs. 5500.

Current state with the UPS added...
