Building a dedicated HT room on the terrace

Yes, got the same fold able cot which is posted in this thread. It is solid 10 inches of foam on cotton fabric and pretty big too, 6 feet wide.

KK, the bookshelves do sound better and they are better built too, but they come to play only at times. During normal music only the front towers and sub are being used. I need to have a comparison.

Also need to see how multi channel stereo sounds, how do I set that up in the AVR?

Raghu, my AVR is Denon 1713.

Santy, I had to construct exactly on top of the wall below, so there was a 10 feet restriction for the width of the room. Carpet would have been a maintenance nightmare especially because of the wet condition we have in Bangalore almost through out the year coupled with slush filled roads due to ever going construction activity.

Yet to do any acoustic treatment, I will analyze after I get the seating and then work upon that.

Nice setup. How much feet have you left from the floor to the screen?

Hi all,

I have decided to go with bookshelves and have installed them. I have attached a photo to show how that looks.

Also. have got my seating / bass trap to the theater. Here are the pictures of the same in action.

Around 36 inches, got the projector on to see the throw and then marked.

Wow !!!! Cool !!! :clapping:

I am tired of praising you and your awesome setup

And by the way, the bookshelves are larger than what I expected them to be, still, I am glad that you retained the bookshelves.

Which speaker wire and HDMI cables are you using ? please share the brand and the price ... :)

Thank you KK. Yes the new TSx series bookshelves are larger than the older TSi ones. This was my dilemma. The other problem is that someone push opens the door, then it will hit the speakers. I have used a door closer and door stopper to take care of this to some extend.

25 Feet HDMI cable from USA, Blue rigger brand, around 2K. Speaker wires are supplied by the dealer Rs. 75 per meter. Dayatona cable for the sub woofer, got it as free from the dealer.

The pcitures (especailly color match), make me feel sitting inside a silent private theatre.
Pictures shows your hark work and your creativity.

Where is the hero? (Projector)

Just as krishnakanth_590 said, tired of praising your effort and outcome. Looking really really cool.

So, everything is in place and the weekend starts tomorrow. What's the 1st movie you gonna watch in this setup? :)

The actual hero projector is still not ceiling mounted as there is a delay with the 25 feet cable that had to be sourced from US. For now, I am using a local 15 meter cable and placing the PJ on floor when needed. I will be getting the cable only by month end. That is the only pending item, but that doesn't stop me from watching the movies.

The first movie was Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, then Mission Impossibe 4, Cinema Paradiso, IMAX Under the sea 3D, Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya etc. etc.

For the weekend, I have Zero dark thirty and Ice Age 4 and also watch some old ones like Hangover or something...

@Prem, I presume you must have now crossed over 100 hours of listening on the TsX. So how does it feel now? What is your view? Have you seen any noticeable change due to breaking in?

@realactivex, I will post info on Monday after some extensive listening on the weekend. I am still in the break in period, so far would have heard some 8-10 hours only.

I understood your concern after seeing the pictures ......
Even though you have installed a door check, I don't think it can stop the door from crashing onto the speaker when opened with force. Is there any provision to install some lock kind of thing that restricts the door from opening completely ?

Please check if it is possible to change the direction of opening of the door to the outside. For my HT room under construction I had requested and got the door opening towards the outside.

Any specific reason for buying the HDMI cable from US. Do we get better quality than is available in India?

Congrats on the excellent setup.

I'm using MX HDMI cable, 15mtrs, which is working flawlessly for more than 8 months now. This cable was suggested by another Hifi member. I paid Rs 3600 for this cable. It quite thick and heavy, no lagging or loss of video or audio any time and since it is 1.4a version, should work for 3D also. Make a note that MX did not provide any warranty for this product.

MX MDR ELECTRONICS & MX ELECTRONICS & HDMI & CCTV CAMERA & DVR & SDI ACCESSORIES & VGA ; DVI & APPLE ACCESSORIES & CABLES & CONNECTORS & HOME THEATER CABLES & PRO-AUDIO / STUDIO ACCESSORIES & FIBER OPTICS & CABLE MANAGEMENT & CABLE ORGANISER & VIDEO
