DENON Owners thread

@magma, may i ask why do you say so? Well, my info comes from the indian customs website where it says 'electrical sound amplifiers' charged 24% duty (all inclusive)...
I might be wrong, if you have some first hand info/experience please share.

There are fellow members who have imported from amazon.de without any issues, in fact in one of the cases the FM even got a refund of the custom duty which amazon.de includes while billing, because the item was not charged any duty in India.!

Fairdeal Electronics In Mumbai has Denon X1200W for 40500/- (Almost 25% less than MRP). You can contact them and get the best deal as far as shipping goes. Also its manufacturers warranty which is provided. I once had an issue with Marantz Nr1504 and Mz Audio readily accepted the AVR for in warranty service. So i dont think all dealers who offer low prices are fake but definately to be sure you must have a review and i have purchased from this dealer twice. Also some other FM's too have not had any issues with the dealer.

Can you pass contact name and phone/mobile no... of fairdeal

Hi I just connected my receiver to the network via wifi and updated the firmware .Just go the setup menu of AVR connect it to the network either by LAN or wifi . Go to general menu --information -- notifications Setup the notification alerts on. Now Go the firmware in the general menu and click notifications and check the update and upgrade is on.Then update the firmware. If any firmware is available for your AVR it will show and update. Please take care during update process ,do not switch off the AVR .The time taken for the update is 40 minutes and it depends upon the network conditions. Best of luck.

Thanks Ranjith.... Five months back, after 10 days of purchase my AVR I updated it as the same above u told. The thing is I got ATMOS but not DTS:X. This AVR supports DTS:X also.
You got DTS:X also for your AVR. Congrates.
Every week still I am trying to update, but its showing the deployed one is latest. May be still they didn't released this update for x1200w:mad:

If you are going to dts x or atmos setup, then you have to set them up accurately as possible from speaker placements to callibration. Or else you would not be able to enjoy to the most.

Hey guys I need some inputs. Looking forward buying a Denon HTIB. Don't wanna go the AVR-speaker way just need a HTIB. Any suggestions will be helpful.

Hope It will be available sooner for x1200.

Today I got the on screen message of DTS:X update for x1200w. So immediately I start updating. I played some DTS:X and Atoms clips. In DTS series some clips showing DTS HD MA, Neutral:X and some clips DTS:X. And played the movie London has fallen, which one the audio with DTS:X. Nice expecience. Thanks Denon.

Got the DTS-X update for my Denon 1200 yesterday. Some nail biting moments as suddenly I saw a message "Retrying"! But it went smoothly. took about 40 minutes in all. After upgrade I see an option - DTS Neural X in both music and movies menu. Yet to play/test any clips.

Hi I'm new to the forum,
I recently upgraded from 2 yr old Yamaha Vx477 to Denon x2200w.
Denon imported from Germany costed 42k. My gear includes Polk RTI a5s, CSI 4, WH Bipolar Surrounds and a Jamo 300w SW.

Brief comparison
Denon sounds much clearer with more natural reproduction of sound, the effects are well observed especially in movies. Yamaha gives a much brighter sounds which don't go well with already bright RTI a5s.
Rock and R&B is generally better with Yamaha , whereas classics are better on denon. In general music is better with Yamaha and Movies Denon.
My listening is 70:30 in favour of movies, so really feeling very satisfied with Denon Avr.

I need some help with further upgradation considering the Denon Avr. (Dedicated room size is 16x16ft, connected to Benq HT2050 projector, I'm based in Hyderabad)
1. SW upgrade suggestions its nearly 4 yr old ( budget 30-40k). Not much of a tight bass and very low freq reproduction isn't very good with the current one.

2. Fronts and Center - Should I upgrade? Will there be any incremental benefits for movies? (budget 50 - 70k)

3. Surrounds 15 - 25k, I'm not sure if I should be changing the Wharfedale Bipoles again.

4. Plan to go for soundproofing, I'd love to DIY - any inputs will be valuable.
