DIY: Pass F5 turbo v2 initiated

IMO 3mm for the bottom plate may be less because mounting the trafo could lead to some sagging. Just my 2 cents.

@Omishra & Sachu888, what about the caps?

Hi Capt,
10000/15000 UF caps prices are not workable. The latest quotes for Cornell Dubillier 10000/50V and 15000/50V are 190 and 290 respectively which was more than I expected.
GB Members also not responded when I posted here.I don't want to invest this much amount. My suggestion is to buy caps individually according to own preferences.

Regards,
Sachin

Yes,
That quote was misleading.Actual quote is Rs 190 for 10000 UF and min quantity is 150.That's why I dropped that. The best option IMO to buy caps from Amar Radio Banglore. He seems to be genuine.

Sachin

Re: My progress on the cabinet making

Need to make hole for power plug. I had trouble finding trapezoidal die to make.
To make to it scratch proof, Plan on black anodizing the heat sinks and the top plate.
Will do aluminium anodizing on the front and the back plates.

Thanks
Pandu

Hi Pandu, Quad advised me to use XLR type power connecter. I used same for my ST-70. It is very cheap and robust, these are made with Bakelite and SS. you can get these from KOTI around 40/- each set (male and female).
this will fit in "O" type hole or "D" type hole

And go for hard anodizing to get scratch proof. This option available at "Hyderabad Electroplating"
Thanks

Hi Raghu,

I too use these in low power application. But here he needs to handle at least ~1A continuous current for toroidal mains 230v. IMO, It's should not be lesser than IEC power socket. What do you say?

Regards.

Raghu,

Thanks. It is intresting and nice option because I can make easier circular holes.

As Om mentioning in previous post, Do we find High power options in these kind of power plugs.

WIll go to Koti and find out if can find one.

Thanks

You need to use a proper IEC power connector rated at 5-10 amps for the F5T. In fact I have ordered Furutech connectors. Flimsy IEC connectors and Switches will melt. Also please remember that there is very high ambient temperature inside the cabinet due to 55-60 degree heat of the heatsinks.

Definitely. Make sure to use a properly rated connector.
Pandu, you can cut the IEC shaped hole using a Dremel tool with a cutting disk,
and some filing. It will take a few passes as the metal is thick, but doable.
Aluminium is not too hard.

Regarding the round metal GX16 type connectors, I am sure
I did a check for the voltage and current rating before using them, but can't
find the data sheet right now.

As per some links , the pins are rated at 5amps at 110/220vac or
12vdc at 20amps (1200v max per pin)
