Saw Enthiran "the robo"...what a crap load of shit is this movie. OMG. So much money is spent but the FX are done very tackily and tastelessly, Rajni becomes a snake, fires guns from his finger talks to mosquitos WTF. You can buy special effects with money. But you still need intelligence to use them. This movie wouldnt even appeal to a 10 year old. Its a national embarrassment.

There is a mass appeal for every actor. It is limited to a great extent by language and culture.

Rajini is worshipped down South but I find him not any more of an actor than, say, Amitabh. It is all in the charisma. Rajini has loads and for his stars the South audience is a bit cranky.

Back to Mumbai. Sallu's Dabangg creates history - for what? He can neither act nor dance even if his life dependend on it. Yet it went on to become a huge success. I am not ashamed to say that me and my friends enjoyed while it lasted.

I am sure there is not much of a class audience to lap up either Rajini or Sallu. But India lives in masses not classes. So you see why such movies become hits.

Some movies make money, people get rich, people love trash (and it's sometimes fun) - it is a win-win situation. So those who don't like it (incl me) - let's move on to another cinema.

Saw Enthiran yesterday at home, from a borrowed DVD to check it out.

I'm happy I didn't spend any money. What a lousy movie, couldn't stand it for more than 10 minutes. Kids enjoyed though.

I promised them to take them to theatre. It is decided, I'll drop them at theatre and I head to club. Pick them up on my way back.

Just wanted to quote something Rajni said...

"The biggest fool is the one who thinks people are fools."

This quote can also be inferred as, "The worst piece of trash is the one who thinks people love trash." ;)

BTW, marketing management guru Kotler's principles are very similar to this quote and that probably explains why Rajni has been at the pinnacle for more than 30 years.

"Before God we are equally wise and equally foolish."

I'll let it be at that.
---------------------------

Rajini jokes are now doing the rounds like "santa/banta". I don't see an ounce of admiration for the superstar in those text messages. It is pure mockery and fun - that's sad because it derides the man himself rather than the character he potrays. All thanks to a Robot! :)

"En vazhi ? thani vazhi."

Now, back to my Saturday gardening, The Reluctant Fundamentalist and Diwali celebrations.

No point responding to trolls.

Uff! :-|

It's quite acceptable if someone doesn't like a movie (that actually has been both critically and commercially successful) because people have different tastes. To me, it's unacceptable if people give a bad opinion on others' tastes no matter how subliminally they try to say it. Please keep your criticism confined to the movie and don't extend it across to people who like it. Period.

Admittedly, I was a bit enraged and sent this point across in a silly way in my previous post but then most of the suggestive posts attacking the movie and its fans are just as silly.

Anyways, final point made. I don't wish to discuss this anymore.

actually v should have name the thread-"Endhiran - The Robot(fans 'only' thread!)"so cynical & senile/OCD critics would have wandered elsewhere!!!

I do not know why this world is made full of people who wish others think like them like what they like dislike what they dislike.

If someone likes what you like thats great.

If someone doesn't like what you like and says so openly, so be it.

In any democratic set up everyone is entitled for his opinion and it IMHO is unfair to even to expect them (what to talk of criticising them just because they do not) subscribe to your own views.

I'm not sure who you're addressing this to but in case it is being addressed to me, let me clarify - my post containing Rajini's quote wasn't addressed to you as I don't care a hair's width about an ignorant opinion that was formed about the whole movie after watching just 10 mins of it. To me, this is as ignorant as saying, "' '2001:A Space Odyssey' has no visuals; just some weird music!" after watching the first 10 mins of it.

In a democratic setup everyone has a right to disagree and voice his opinion on others' opinions. If you think that's unfair, you're only contradicting your own idea on democracy. And seriously I don't understand why you even bother responding when you believe that 'there's no point in responding to trolls'.

I would have not enjoyed the movie in a DVD for sure. Keeping Rajni aside, Shankar movies are meant to be seen in theatres for the 'scale' factor. This scale factor become 0 when viewed on a DVD.

No, I cannot watch endhiran on a DVD for the same reason I cannot watch "12 angry men" in theatre. Some movies are meant to watched on DVDs while others are meant to be seen in theatre and Iam sure shankar's movies become plain-jane when viewed on DVD.

Lol.. Actually it would be scary to live in such a world in which everyone likes the same thing.. :ohyeah:

He he.. Think about preference towards girls.. :D
