For me it was a major let down
in fact it was quiet crappy, the so called CGI is quiet disastarous. Dint expect this from shankar

I wud say unlike other movie of the superstar you cant watch ths more than once but its worth it!.and people stop sayng thngs like"leave the brains b4 u enter" for god sake what u guys goin for an all india medical conference?!.ths is a movie meant for everyone frm an kiddo to pawn chewng illiterate auto wallah and if you want movies to make your brains work! or sumthn like that go ask prof.sir.ABDUL KALAM,stephen hawkins or sum nobel prize awarded scientist to make a movie specially for ya!.

As a music director A.R is flop for the past few years . His music composition in general is all sorts of noice .hence might have impressed west .Result, the Oscar Award

It's just some bad music in last couple of movies. Blue was definitely bad and so is Robot.

I watched it for the second time today just to stop my wife from pestering me. hyeah:

First half was even better than the first time I watched. Both of us enjoyed a lot. The second half though was rubbery for the second time but my wife enjoyed a lot since it was her first show.

It hugely depends on who you go with. I have no doubts that when you go with the entire family (as rajni expects ), the experence is pretty good. If you go with a group of critic friends and want to disect the movie in constituent parts and efforts like graphics/music etc seperately, You might not like it.

On the whole, It is still a master piece. Comments from my wife with much excitement was "This is all time best". Definetly a one time watch. First half and the songs have great repeat value. The climax gives headache in the second time viewing once you know what is going to happen.

It is hard to pull through a movie which attracts mass and intelects both at the same time. This movie mostly succeded in that.

And, please stop comparing with sivaji. (Period) hyeah:

Well said blasto.bein a true rajini fanatic ive already watchd it thrice.yeah the movie xperience dpnds on who ya watchng alng with n the theatre sq n pq also matters.for an indian flick the graphix was in par wit that of hollywood flix though at times it was not neccesry!.i aint complaining as i am a true rajini fanatic!.

My friend already watched this movie 3 times and planning to watch it again few more times spending hundreds of rupees on tickets. If a highly educated guy do these kind of crazy acts cant think of other Rajani fans . They will watch it atleast ten times. Other than few movies he acted in negative roles in the 80s none of his movies are worth spending money and time unless you are a crazy fan!!

Hi,

Watched it on Sunday.It was hard to sustain the interest of watching a movie.I agree the first half was watchable. But the second... well i am disappointed.The road chase reminded Shankar's first movie 'Gentleman'. The song after the Robot Rajini kidanaps Aishwarya to his den made me wonder if we had gone back to
S P Muthuraman days of Rajini movies..:sad:I knew all the hype was just marketing jargon and i went without expectations.Santhanam was wasted.ARRs background score in the second half really gives a head ache.I liked a couple of songs tho.

Some positives were that there was no 'intro' song. The scientist was shown as a scientist. It really was gutsy on the part of Shankar and Rajini to show he hero running away form a fight scared and all.The lab sets were fantastic.But definitely not worth a second time watch.

Precisely the way I felt when I watched twice, first day show with friends and once again with my wife. I have never ever watched a movie thrice in theatres but it looks like I will, with this one. This is strange, actually. Dot.

This article (tiger x tornado + quake) in Slate was recommended by Mumbai Mirror- it was a good read. Clearly, the last two movies have elevated him by a gazillion times. :clapping:

Rajnikanth has reached the 'Super-Staaarrrr' status after a lot of hard work.

His latest movie, the subject of discussion in this thread, is most certainly not his best as far as acting is concerned.

However, it is the best 'Special Effects' movie made till date in India (tall claim here, purely my personal view). And also, the budget is amongst, if not the, highest.

And have you ever wondered why people are so crazy about Rajni ? he didnt reach that status without putting efforts...and IMHO people go to theater to get entertained or to relax and a Rajni film gives them just that - Relaxation and Entertainment.I am a great fan of Lalettan but that doesnt mean I should not give SUPER STAR his due.

Ha ha... I have some of the craziest Rajani fans in my friend circle and they watch his movie multiple times for no reason!!. When asks they do not have any specific answer for it. This is one part I am unable to digest.

Whatever...some poor people lost their anual savings after endiran release...
