Fans of Television Series

Did not like first few episodes for breaking bad, need some moral boost to keep watching further

hmmm.... Dropped watching it after 2nd Season. Though its decent but I did not find it as praiseworthy as ratings and viewers claim it to be.

Each to his own taste ...... BB was me was ****in awsome .... under my all time top 5 TV series.

Struggling to find a new TV series as engaging as BB or (HF,TGW) for that matter

How True Detective Will End...

This is a very good read on the serial True Detective. Very well written and even puts 2 and 2 together just based on what has been shown so far.

It does not give anything away, only puts together all information very succinctly and only based on all the episodes aired so far.

IMHO, really good detective work from the author of this article, especially considering the very far out opinions some people have on who the killer is.

Plesae please please please...

NO SPOILERS HERE....PLEASE

I'm gonna start watching True Detective when the last episode is over on coming Monday.

In any case, please don't write anything which could ruin the fun for others...
No worries:) this is not a spoiler by any means.
Just the names of the 2 lead characters

Waiting to watch the last two episodes of True detective, after which i'm thinkinng of Justified or Fringe. Which one is better, any recommendations?

And re-watching BBC Mind your language after a long time. Classic comedy at its best. Any similar good comedy stuff? They are hard to come by.

Not seen Justified but if you like X-Files or that genre then Fringe is a must.

Remember it... watched reruns of it as a kid. Also, check out Yes Minister (TV Series 19801984) - IMDb & Yes, Prime Minister (TV Series 19861987) - IMDb... good British comedy.

Porridge (TV Series 19741977) - IMDb is excellent and Goodness Gracious Me (TV Series 19982000) - IMDb though a bit raunchy is still loads of fun.

Bates Motel, ..... Finally a TV series I am kinda hooked in to, other wise I had started to think, somethings wrong with me for not liking most of the hit TV series ...lol :D.

ANyway this Bates Motel has an interesting concept, the writes have made it like a prequel to the horror classic movie Psycho, with the same characters Norman and his mother, how they actually started that Motel, where "Marion Crane" the character from Psycho takes a break. Its about how the family came in to existence, that made it the way they were in the movie, and explores the intricate relation, Norman had with his mother.

I have completed 3 episodes, and it is pretty engaging, dark and mysterious, and since I also have seen psycho I am kinda curious to see if at all, (and how) they link the TV series with the movie.

True Detective (TV Series 2014 ) - IMDb - Finished with the finale of True Detective Season 1. This has been an extremely enjoyable ride with some exceptional film-making. It's very laid-back in its approach and buildup to the finale, very reminiscent of a Michael Mann movie that takes its own sweet time before reaching the conclusion.

Excellent performances by both Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson though McConaughey can be wooden at times but not so much here.

In one word True Detective "delivers" and even manages to elevate television serials to a whole new level. Thoroughly professional in its approach, especially in the way it has been shot, the attention to detail (the series goes back and forth to the 90s and the present), and some fine performances by everyone.

Highly recommended!

True Detective, did not like the first episode, seems the screenplay has been a bit complicated to catch hold of what actually the story is aiming for. May be not to my taste. but I will give a try watching the next few episodes.

Bates Motel has gone really good, with more layers of mystery, complications and intrigue its has become really quite good. I am half way down with 10 episodes in total. Watching on Netflix in Full HD .. :)

Just to update here a little...

The second half of 5th season of "The Good Wife" has started now i.e. S05E13...

And to all the court room drama fans... I found another show :yahoo:

Rake (TV Series 2010 ) - IMDb is an Australian TV show... I have just watched first 2 episodes, so can't say much...but I liked it... This seems to be quite different from the American shows and humor is also nice and different. Currently it's in its 3rd season and only 8 episodes per season.

Try "Rake"... However don't get mistaken by its US remake with the same name which is running its 1st season on StarPremierHD channel every Monday night... I watched "Rake US' on that channel once and searched on internet..that's how I got to know about the original Australian show. So I dropped US version and preferred original Aussie show.

I am also watching "Boston Legal" on Star World HD and now I'm into 3rd season which is going better than its first 2 seasons. Apart from 1 case per episode, now it's following a long case in procedural format...so going good.

Looks interesting Sam, i am about to finish my Battlestar Galactica marathon, few episodes left in Season 4. Will try this one out post that. I did see it on Netflix.

Finished True Detective. A single writer-Director combo at the helm helped maintain great consistency in atmosphere, visual style and pace through out the season. The season finale is one of the more satisfying finales in recent memory. Even though the season is a bit slow and brooding to begin with, it picked up pace by the 4th episode and kept the narrative on a tighter leash. I am hoping they maintain this shorter 8-10 episode per season in the future as it helps to make the series feel like reading a novella with each episode feeling like a chapter. It is a potential favorite series for me (My current favorites are The Wire, GoT, Breaking Bad and Justified). However, many a good series have fallen from grace in the second or third season. I hope this anthology series maintains it's standard whatever story it picks up next. Fingers crossed.

With great difficulty, I also managed to complete the eighth season of X-Files. The main story arc, which the writers reserved for the final couple of episodes of every season with an intermittent episode thrown in, finally was set in motion for the next round. But they toyed with it, kicked the can down the road too many times and then changed their minds about the whole arc in between, only to make a U-turn yet again. So, when they finally did, probably half the loyal fan base did not care. You can stretch a rubber band for only so long without breaking it. Anyways, I liked the episodes after Mulder returned. There is an issue with Robert Patrick's character, Agent Dogget. He is too doggedly stubborn to the point of annoying in his refusal to believe the paranormal. On the contrary, I have so far liked Annabeth Gish's Agent Reyes in the very few episodes she was in. 18 more episodes to go in the last season and I will be done with a 200+ episode show. Phew!

Bates Motel - Season 1 ...... Finished season 1 and man was it engrossing, as I said after a long time a TV series that has me hooked. I am afraid now that I am again on the look out for something that will hold my interest .. :D.

Will start the second season as and when it comes out on Netflix. It closes the season 1 with lot of mystery involved.

Rake the AU version is also available on Netflix, let me try that and hope it hooks me. I am a die hard fan of court room drama and so looking forward to the same,

Just guessing you haven't yet watched the below two shows... Try them..

The Americans - I've watched its first season and 2nd season is running now a days. Quite a different show setup in cold war era.

Justified - I'm fan of this show and its protagonist & antagonist both. If you haven't tried it yet, now is the time... 6th season next year will be the last.

Banshee (TV Series 2013 ) - IMDb - Yup, an awesome finale that wrapped up pretty much everything and left enough teasers for Season 3.

I personally thought with only 1 episode left Season 2 would be left wanting in many individual storyline threads, but the finale actually managed to wrap things up very nicely and even included multiple flashbacks.

Nicely done indeed... and Banshee finishes on a high note.

Highly recommend this series to anyone who has not watched it yet.

Loved Elementary. The first season was far beyond expectations. I was very sceptical of a female watson and the setting in new york. But the series is superb and in some ways even better than sherlock.

True, Banshee continues to amaze. Do watch the Banshee Origins available as web rips.

However I am dissappointed by True Detective. Man, I went to watch it with a mindset of a detective serial but what I see instead? One story across all the episodes, too much of distraction towards the messed up family drama of the individuals and add to that the interview mode story telling, makes one hell of a over-complicated serial to watch. Not to forget the semi-psycho detective characters. IMDB Rating of 9.5?
