Fans of Television Series

OK finished The Killing SE03, the ending was not as surprising as season 01, but over all, the tone the maturity as I mentioned above was better than one and two. Also I felt the ending was a bit abrupt, I mean (avoiding spoilers), the moment you sort the mystery and find the killer, the scene just ends, and ends the episode as well. I was like ..!!!???. Few minutes should have spent to conclude the post "Killer found" footage .....

Anyway, will be looking forward to SE04, when it comes to Netflix ..........

Thinking what to start next, I just notices that The walking Dead - SE04 is still pending with me on HDD (not on netflix, SE04 is not on Netflix yet), so I might as well start with that ....... so next post might be of TWD - SE04 ... :)

I actually like the slow treatment of the show, for me it is a change from the helter-skelter pace, plus that is what the show set out to do. It progresses perfectly with the plot, and season 3 is much darker than the first two. It startled me as to how dark and deep they have taken it. The cinematography, the setting, and the acting all contribute to the darkness and the gloom surrounding the town. It is dark but the darkness is seen as an outward expression of the inner conflicts of these characters, almost as if they are thinking out loud of their fears inside, especially Holder with his catchy phrases and dry sarcastic humor. The Killing is a very different kind of show for me which has taken hold of my attention like this.

The Killing sounds right up my alley! I'll be starting on it this weekend.

I guess I'll finish S1 to S3 in time to be able to binge-watch Season 4 after it ends (it begins telecast on August 1).

Season 2 of both Ray Donovon and The Bridge looks like big improvements on their debut runs. Anyone following them?

Completed Season 2 finale of The Killing, simply brilliant. I really loved how the costal city of Seattle was used as a backdrop, the ariel shots of the city with the rains always looming in the background with some haunting music added a surreal touch to the dark & gloomy mood for the series. Looking forward to season 3.

BTW I forgot to mention one imp aspect in my short review, which Rajish's post reminded me, its the background score ........ its classic to the core, really adds to the dark and gloomy atmosphere, that one typical part that comes at the tension point ...man its haunting gripping and tense .........

BTW for people still with the series DO NOT read the comments , just listen to the music if you want to ......

Yes for Ray Donovan. Definitely looks good from the first 2 episodes. Liev Schreiber and Jon Voight are perfect as always... but Paula Malcomson and her incessant complaining is a bit of a drag.

I am a big lover of Background Score in movies and TV shows as well.
Specially I'm a big fan of Hans Zimmer.
The last soundtrack I loved in a TV show was from the show "Broadchurch"... which I keep on listening quite frequently. Later I discovered its musician Olafur Arnalds's whole music and found him to be great composer of some amazing instrumentals. His album 'Found Songs' is a pleasure to listen.

Jon Voight's lifetime best role IMO.

Was surprised to see such a dark story almost exclusively about hard, violent men behaving badly being conceived and created by a woman Ann Beiderman. Not being sexist here, just respect for being able to write characters from such a varying perspective.

I immensely like title tracks, sound tracks etc.
A couple of title songs I've been listening "on repeat".

So after the intensity of The Killing, needed some therapy, finished SUITS Season 1, it was just what the Dr. ordered, it is savvy & humorous with smart one liners, the best thing is there is a closure of the plot each episode while the long term stories of the characters playing out throughout the season & Season 1 did ended with a bang.

Wowowo EP08 of The walking dead was mind blowing and tense to the core ........ I never though The walking Dead could wet my eyes but Ep09 after the gruesome battle of EP08 did ....... Making season 4 worth, but its the history and bonding of SE03 that made 4's outcome so emotional ........ still 7 more to go lets see .. :)

Good news friends, The 4th season of The Killing is now available on Netflix ... :) yooo!! :)

The Walking Dead - Season 4 Till EP12 ...... Walking Dead now after almost completing season 4, I can say has redeemed itself after poor SE02. This is IMO ofcourse. Season One was good, realistic approach to zombie epidemic, top class makeup effects and, superb performance made it a definite watch in the Zombie genre. However SE02 was a let down for me. Too slow and the plot hardly progressed. (except the last episode which was a blazer). I was disappointed by it. SE03 however was exactly opposite, its nicely paced, plot progresses, tension all over. Everything is more than SE02 and the finale was awsome. SE04 is another step ahead of SE03, its not that pacie, but its gripping. SE04 is more dark, focuses more on dark side of human survival instinct, need to socializing, need for companionship. The later half strongly concentrates on lone survival, desperation of how a being will feel behave if lonely, lost and depressed after one year of supposedly calm social life in this mayhem. Its sometimes very depressing, and the emotions are sky rocketing. I personally enjoy this kind of dark, gritty survival more rather than only bang bang action. SE04 nicely balances between being dark and action oriented. ALl I would say is I am thoroughly enjoying SE04 of The walking Dead. Only 4 episodes to go and then its back to The killing SE04 ...:)
