Fans of Television Series

The Killing (TV Series 2011 ) - IMDb - Comes a full circle with the series finale. Its a short season of only 6 episodes, and probably only to give closure to the fans, but it holds its own as a full length regular series too.

Linden and Holder are back in form and go through a wider range of emotions as partners this time around especially when events threaten to tear them apart. The relationship between both is the backbone of this season though there are murders that need to be solved and criminals who need to be caught, but most of that takes a backseat to Linden and Holder and their relationship as well as their ability to breakdown and/or hold things together alternately.

A good finish to an excellent series and one that should satisfy the fans as it brings closure to the series as a whole.

Just finished Fargo (TV Series), just a complete masterpiece...!!! Martin Freeman, you dirty little bastard, the naivety to his acting, is simply brilliant. Billy Bob Thornton with his dark humor & deadly gaze is spectacular. Fargo is a GEM.

The Killing -Season 3

Just as reviewed by a couple of FM's, Season 3 is definitely dark & brutal, the emotional ride that you enjoyed with the various characters in Season 1-2 is missing, nevertheless the tone & tenor is well maintained in the rain drenched city of Seattle. I was a little disappointed with the season finale & the culprit, but that was all reimbursed in Season-4.

The Killing-Season-4

Well, was surprised to see Season 3 plot rolling out really hot into Season-4. Season-4 with just 6 episodes ends with a bang, it was like connecting the dots with all personal & professional battles culminating at the very end. The suspense & storytelling was quite amazing.

So, going to miss the awkward chemistry between Linden & Holder, also the punchline, "Yo Linden~~~~sanp"

PS: Hope the Producer Veena Sud & Netflix do revive this show in the near future.

Starting with a couple of oldies from when I was a kid...

Now and Again (TV Series 19992000) - IMDb - I really loved this show... though I never got to see all of the episodes. Started yesterday and done with 6 episodes and its still as good as I remember it. The premise is simple... an older/middle-aged man dies and his brain is put into a new body that the Govt. creates with special abilities to be faster, stronger, etc. Despite the new body, the man however still gravitates towards his wife and daughter and along the way helps fight crime/criminals.

Don't remember or did not see how it ends, though it was cancelled after Season 1 so presumably a cliffhanger ending. Either way its recommended for perfectly blending elements of sci-fi, action, romance, etc. Wish they made more serials like this...

After Now and Again I'm going to be starting with The Pretender, another favorite for Jarod and Miss Parker.

The Killing - SE04 .... well finally put curtains to The Killing. My net was not performing properly in the past 10-15 days or so and hence did not start The Killing on netflix (did not want to ruin the experience) and hence started True Detective, which was available to me on my HDD ..... later on True Detictive.

The Killing, boy I have never seen a TV series or infact a movie as well, where the partnership duo has been so deeply layered with intricate emotions and so well balanced chemistry ..... all the gone 3 seasons the relation was so aptly and nicely build and maintained and with se 04 they nailed it with one of the most emotional and heart warming ending ever seen on a TV series.

SE04 was actually more about Linden/Holder coping up with the intense ordeal dealing with the consequences of their action in SE03 and how the two (if I put in Holder's words) .... how the two put their sh*t together ... :D..... and as most people are saying in their reviews, it actually does comes a full circle, when Linden says "But I think maybe that home was us. I think that was everything" .......... and Then the shots of Linden driving reveals the story behind the opening credit scenes of this series all along.

Linden leaving to search again for that some place, and then realising this city with so may drenching/depressing moments still is her home and stays. Its was so very nicely placed.

To tell you the truth, the scene where Linden says to Holder ... "I should have realised, you were the one who would always stay, and you were the best friend she had" ... and then they hug ..... did wet my eyes to an extend ... :) ...... The best ending on a high note of a TV series ....... 8.5/10 for this series all along..

Suits Season 2 & 3.

Just like Season 1,the next 2 seasons were upto the mark & highly entertaining. It's no intense crime thriller but still the corporate nitty gritty in a law firm has enough fodder to fill up your dish. I would call it a mild version of Corporate Game of Thrones ;-) because in the end you keep loving & hating the various characters. There is never a dull moment & you keep looking for more.

Veronica Mars (TV Series 20042007) - IMDb - Completed Season 1 of Veronica Mars, at its core a teenage/romance/high school drama that centres around the main character Veronica Mars. That said Veronica Mars also highlights as a private investigator who helps solve cases for her father who is a detective and an ex-sheriff.

Like all high schools, this one too is split into the haves and the have-nots, the nerds, the jocks, the cheerleaders, the elite, the snobs, the idiots, etc. however, the similarities end there, as the series Veronica Mars actually digs deeper to offer more than the average teenage drama. There are plenty of OMG moments throughout the series and most of them you will not even have an inkling of.

Among its many advantages, it offers mystery, humour, excellent performances all around and detail oriented characterisation of most of the leads. Everybody has a story to tell, and the reason why they behave the way they behave, what motivates them, the families they come from, etc.

Each episode solves one particular problem or mystery, however there is a linear arc to the Season 1 plot where Veronica and her father solve the mystery of her murdered best friend from high school.

Excellent entertainment, highly recommended, do watch it.

I finished all of "The Killing" yesterday.

Though all the seasons were very good, Season 4 was the best! It was short, but it packed quite a wallop! It also worked well, because the earlier seasons did play a huge part in building up to the events and the behaviour & choices of the characters in season 4.

I think that the human element (right down to the baser elements) in both the main characters (Linden and Holder) was brought out very well in S04. I've also not yet seen better chemistry being exhibited by another set of partnered cops in any other movie or series: Not even True Detective. Contrary to most people, I did not like the way it ended. I mean the post ending - ending ;) IMHO it was not consistent with the way the characters have been built, and to me the series lost a bit of the real-life grittiness and darkness with the way it wrapped (or the way it was implied to end). But that said, I'd highly recommend this series to anybody. This is one of the few that will hold up to many repeat viewings.

Thanks to sam9s's recommendation. I'd not have even heard about this series without it! :)

Now you all "The Killing" guys made me confused.... Seems like American version is also as good as the original...
I have the Danish version of 'The Killing' on Bluray... Wanna start it soon... but the bloody work and time!!

I think The Killing is the only TV series "remake" that has made quite a name of itself, else most remakes are just ok or good to an extent ... The Killing I am sure surpassed the original in the love and praise it got .....

PS ::: BTW if anyone had noticed my sig, I am also following/watching, Orange is the new black ... will review it soon as well.

@technobhatt, the original Danish series "Forbrydelsen" (The Killing) is considered by many to be very good in it's own right. I'll also definitely be giving it a go and deciding for myself a little while later.

Has anyone seen Homeland? 3 Seasons are over. Season 4 coming in Oct 2014.
Its simply amazing. I am watching Season 1 now.
I feel it's as good as 24 or maybe better?

Homeland (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Homeland is a must watch, at the end of the 3rd season you will be emotionally drained for sure [emoji1] I am looking forward to the 4th season on Star World HD.

Nobody has mentioned about Outlander, perhaps it is new, currently it is in Season 1 Episode 3. It is based on a novel with the same name. Already rated 9.0 in IMDB. Just for curiosity I watched the first 2 episodes and started liking it. The narration is excellent. It is about time traveling but not SCI-FI however in a different way and if you like this concept, they you might like it. Will watch ep03 today.

The Strain:

Well, honestly I did not have high expectations with this series. I thought it wouldb be in the similar genre to The Walking dead and so decided to give it a go. But after watching the Pilot episode, I was pleasantly surprised. It was really good and set the ball rolling right from the word go and immediately my expectations were up and I was looking forward for the next episodes. But sadly, things started to go a little downhill in the later episodes. Its all pretty slow going in Episodes 2,3, 4. E05 is again good. The flashback sequences kick in from this episode and it was interesting. E06 was also good and I thought that the series was back on track. But the most recent episode is a downer for me.
Its still early days in the series I guess. So, I will wait at least until season finale before passing on my judgement. But if you like tv shows like The Walking Dead, then chances are that you might like this one.

Thanks,
Sandeep.
