Fans of Television Series

Did you notice his audio system too? It was really bugging me, until some other FMs helped identify the system components.

Speakers: Ohm Walsh
Tuner/preamp: Mac MX110
Power amp: Mcintosh 240
TT: Marantz 6300

Yup, was watching out for it, thanks to your heads up post. Good jazz music too + Bosch explaining real music is vinyl vs. downloading music to his 14 year old.

Started Watching 2 Broke Girls. Don't judge it by the name. Its a good comedy show about 2 girls who are broke (duh!).
Different from the usual Big Bang Theory (which TBH has become crap recently) it is peppered with adult jokes and innuendos. You'll enjoy it for the wit and timing.

Hooked to Black Sails, just finished season one.. Its a Starz original dating back to pirates in the 18th century in New Providence island, and a mad treasure run with lots of twists.. Imdb 7.9 probably, do try it out..

Season 2 is even better... and with some amazing plot twists.

Agent Carter (TV Series 2015 ) - IMDb - The serial begins in 1946, after the disappearance of Captain America and the end of the World War. Peggy Carter is an agent, but stuck at taking lunch orders and getting coffee for the boys club. Yeah, a bit of feminism and women's lib does creep in, but on the whole Agent Carter is lots of fun... I binge watched it over 2 days. The story arc is perfect, not too long and not too short at 8 episodes.

The premise is simple, Howard Stark, played well by Dominic Cooper is accused of treason and conspiracy against the United States and its up to his good friend Peggy Carter to prove his innocence. Throw in a good measure of mystery, campy humor, action, the Russians and the cold war, and you are all set for an enjoyable series with a female lead that kicks ass. A good series that fills the void left empty by the likes of Alias, Nikita, Dark Angel, etc.

Hayley Atwell is perfect for the role and just about the only reason you need to watch Agent Carter, but if you are a fan of Marvel then it only gets better.

Any reviews/feedback on 'Luther'? The British series has 8.6 on IMDB.

Bosch (TV Series 2014 ) - IMDb - Binge watched it over 2 days and totally worth it. Titus Welliver's selection as the protagonist is untypical (his last outing was as the bad guy in Transformers) and also works hugely in favor of the show. Coming as it does from Amazon Studios it also bodes well for television (actually internet streaming) seeing most of the big studios have "procedural & predictable" shows.

Nothing new about the story itself, headstrong cop catches the bad guys, always. That said Harry Bosch is a complex character battling his own inner demons that stem from the time he was abused as a child. Add to that everybody including his superiors and colleagues have an axe to grind with him and even want him gone. Throw in a serial killer who wants to play a game of cat and mouse with Harry Bosch and you have a TV show that delivers big in the cop/thriller genre in a long, long time.

Excellent performances all around, amazing cinematography, gripping storyline that does not deviate too much, etc. make Bosch the must watch TV show this season. Highly recommended.

Sounds great...have been a fan of Welliver since Brooklyn South & NYPD Blue

Parenthood - Season 5 complete.... parenthood is a TV series that has gone from fair to good to ultimate to god damm mind blowing. This is the kind of Drama that grows on to you slowly and slowly till the time you are so engrossed that you cannot live without it, especially if you are a family kinda man, an emotional family kind of a man, like me .. :). Parenthood has been my dose of inspiration for the last 3, 4 months or so. It started off a bit slow, especially when I just had finished switched at birth, parenthood felt a bit slow at the beginning and I was ok with it, but from season 2 onwards it has just grown, grown to an excellent TV family drama, and I feel no shame in admitting that by the end of season 4 and 5 I was totally and fully involved with the characters emotionally, mentally how so ever you may put it. It has been my true source of inspiration as a father, husband, son ..... these 4-5 months or so that I have been watching this TV series.......The writing and acting, the performances are excellent, especially the performances, they are just so phenomenally realistic that Oscars might go to shame. There are multiple plot lines and ordinary people dealing with realistic issues and problems. The family dynamics are so authentic, making it very easy to relate, even if we belong to two totally different cultures, but after all we all are humans .. :)

I so strongly recommend this to people who love family drama, especially those who consider themselves a bit emotional ......... 8.8/10 for this one

I am gonna miss this show ....... Season 6 is coming on Star Premier HD and I am recording it, but first few episodes I have missed so have to get them somehow.

Did a binge watch of this too...loved it :yahoo: .Thanks so much for the recommendation, cop shows these days tend to get a bit 'soapy'...this was very old school.

House of Cards (TV Series 2013 ) - IMDb - Binge watched season 3 over 2 days and it continues to be an exceptional show that maintains the story arc and then some brilliant performances all around from Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and especially Michael Kelly who really comes into his own this season and with his own story arc.

If you have already seen the first 2 seasons, season 3 is a continuation of the same with the Underwoods grabbing power and holding on to it against all opposition. This continues to be the main story arc for the entire season, but spends a little time deviating into Russian and United Nation's politics, but nothing too much.

End of the day, we will be rooting for Francis Underwood no matter the ethics and that objective is met yet again with only the Underwoods left standing at the end of it all. The only con in season 3 is that Robin Wright comes across (sometimes) as a little bit too whiny and needy, but probably that is only setting things up for future seasons. All in all, a satisfying season 3 that holds high for the most part with exceptional storytelling and political drama unlike anything else on TV right now. Highly recommended, especially for Kevin Spacey, but season 3 also belongs to Michael Kelly for his amazing performance.

"Binge watch" ....lol I could not understand when I just read it .... so I googled its and this is what it resulted ..."watching between 2-3 episodes of the same TV show in one sitting" ,......lol and I thought to myself, was there any TV series that I did not do a so called "Binge watch" ...:D :D ... hahahah yes, binge watching is also 5+ hours of watching back to back episodes, in my book. Or completing an entire season on a weekend.

For some reason, the new House Of Cards is not getting me the same way the earlier episodes did. I guess now that he is already the president, he is no longer the underdog. But I have only seen a couple of episodes.

Backstrom is a new detective series - it is decent. He is a quirky guy. But the series is not exceptional - but definitely watchable.

Another series I have been watching is Blue Blood. About a multi generation cop family. Again, watchable.

Have started watching the first season of Backstrom

Seems quite promising. The lead is a cross between Monk and House MD.

The stories are interesting made even more so with the lead characters whackiness.

Currently, seems good, although with some of these shows the whackiness can go out of hand.

Caught up with new seasons of a few series.

Homeland S04:

Somewhere in this thread, I promised never to watch this season. However, I never promised to keep my promises :p.

This season was a sort of return to form for the series as it was much better than the disappointing S03. It kept me interested through out, except the last episode, which felt like a filler - something that belonged to the first half of the next season opener.

I still think the first season (and to a very large extent, the second) have set a high benchmark the show might never meet.

House of Cards S03:

Though I can't say that the overall quality of the show has gone down etc., I did not like it as much as Season 2. May be the thrill of the chase was better than the achievement / the odds against the Underwoods are not as heavily stacked / a bit too much soul searching / the expectations were too high? I don't know.

Banshee S03:

Banshee was pretty good in S01 and had a very interesting start to S02. But, starting with S02 Episode 5, it went melodramatic and blunted my interest. The last few episodes were OK, but the sour taste left by digging deep into the 'feelings' of the characters never left my mind.

The third episode of the current season made me sit-up, the first time Banshee has done so since the second episode of the second season. It seemed like finally writers were getting around to what made me like the series in the first place. From there, it went from strength to strength and ended up as the most memorable season of the series so far. Banshee is not about logic, it is not about the inner struggles or moral values. It is about throwing together dark characters with bad intent and blasting the way out with a bullet (or a machete or sword or knife or the good ol' fist) with lot of blood spilled. This season also started making inroads into the background of the main characters (though we still (and I hope never) don't know the real name of "Lucas Hood"). Of all the series I watched (which is not a lot), this is definitely the most improved season (all others being same or slightly lower by their standards).

Justified S06 - 3 episodes to go:

There are only a few series that I slip into and enjoy right away. There are series like 'Castle' where I expect only the expected because it's a well known episodic template they keep filling up. But with Justified, I don't need to turn off the thinking brain and am not always sure what the characters are going to do. It does not dwell too much on the personal lives of supporting and minor characters (something many series can be accused of) unless warranted by the plot. Some minor characters from long past episodes make surprising re-appearances which is something Justified handles well, almost all the time. Those are some of the things that endear this series to me.

On top of that, this is a series with a silver tongue as dialogues - cool, witty and thoughtful - keep on coming. There are not many series which can quote Keynes, refer Occam's Razor and still be cool.

It does have slight drags from time to time, but on the whole, it never stops being entertaining (S02 and S04 are the best). This being the last season, I hope it goes out on a high. It has been good so far.
