Fans of Television Series

I agree with you ...but only to an extent, though even I felt that the deep layered story arc which was there with Brody was not there in SE04, but i would not say that SE04 was not able to capture my attention in terms of interest, emotions and thrill. I was pretty much glued to the seat and always was looking forward for the next part at the of each episode. For me the only complain I had was that the season was too much concentrated towards carrie as if this was not Homeland but Carrie Mathison show ...... and I also agree with you on the Hindi/Urdu dialogues, they actually were pretty corny felt out of the place ..... but over all I was pretty satisfied by season 04 ....

Thanks Musicbee and Sam9s for the recommendations. After my Dexter marathon I did catch up with well known TV shows by rating provided in IMDB and rotten tomatoes. Some of my favorites are Big Bang theory, Justified, American Horror Story, Spartacus, Homeland, 24, Fargo, Game of Thrones, The Shield, The Killing (Danish version), The Bridge (Danish version), Californication, Sherlock, The Walking dead, Sons of anarchy. I have seen at least half or most of the seasons of all these and will complete the rest as and when time permits except Homeland which again was completed at a single go - all 4 seasons.

Planning to start but no time are these - Borgen, Good Wife, Castle, Suits, True detective, Two and a half men, How I met your mother and some more..

Sorry to say this but Breaking Bad is just not my thing.. Could not go past S02E05. Really tried but could not after all the glowing reviews and top rating given to it. Linear and dragging big time, at least for me. Acting is spot on, missus Walter being my favourite.. Will give another shot after 6 months, may be. LOST is another one series that I lost interest after a couple of episodes in season 1.

Some other TV shows that were not my tastes after the very first episode - the Blacklist, Leverage, The Psych, How to get away with Murder, Deadwood, CHuck and some more.

Currently watching FOREVER. Looks good after the first 3 episodes.

The first and the only participant of this thread that did not like BB.. :) ....... but that happens ...... I also was not able to go past Game of Thornes after first season...:)

And you did not like Banshee either... I cannot for the life of me understand/fathom how that can be?

,,,hehe :D ....you remember that ..... well if you ask me today I do not even remember why I did not like it ... but yes you are correct I actually didnt ........ and then there are so many TV series out there to see and follow you hardly feel the need to give a series another chance ....... but you never know I might some day ... :)

It is funny because I made 3-4 attempts at watching BB. First 2-3 attempts - I switched on the TV and BB was playing, I watched the rest of the episode - and really, nothing did it for me. I did not know what the hoo-ha was all about. Same goes for my wife.

Then, when we didn't have anything else to watch, we put on BB and watched it from the beginning. Took us 2-3 episodes but then, we were hooked. Although I have to say that Season 3 or so, one of those seasons is incredibly dull.

well all I can say that one should not take a TV Series or MOvie for that matter of as igh calibre as BB casually, coz that certainly does not set the correct tone, which is very imp and required to watch and enjoy a TV series as good as BB.

My favourite TV series :-
Entourage ->Fun as hell.Can't wait for the movie.
Homeland ->So intense.Killer show
Hannibal ->Masterpiece.Slow but very intriguing.
Fargo ->Killer acting.Retro vibe.Overall very good.
Penny Dreadful ->Vampires,werewolves and frankenstein.And who doesn't like Eva Green ?
Breaking bad ->Can say overhyped but it had it's moments.
Game of thrones->Very good.the sets are magnificent.
House of cards->Just killer.Can't wait for season 3
The wire->Can't say the best tv series I watched but it was very good.
Ray donovan->You should watch this.Very good story line.
The strain->Great show.The comics are equally good.

Fortitude ->Cool up til now.Similar to Fargo.
Person of interest ->Repetitive but interesting concept

Gotham->Better than flash
Constantine->Very good.I loved the movie.This tops that.
The walking dead->Turning int to boring now but earlier seasons were killer.And please if you like this TV series, read the Comics. Omg they're so good.Love them.
Better call saul->Looking good.Hope they have something interesting down the line.
Suits->Boring but has it's moments.And yes very very good music.I discovered some really good artists due to this tv series.

Shows I left mid way
The last ship ->Was interesting.Will finish it soon.
ZNation->Stupid show but it's zombies.Anything with zombies is cool.

How To Get Away With Murder

I got very put off by the overacting and over the top drama in How to Get Away With Murder. Especially the leading actress and the other black student. All they do is cry, get panicky and have this haunted guilted look - in all the episodes.

Blacklist continues to impress in its second season - that is what masala action should be. Oh, and Elementary second season is terrific as it continues to be. I'm always a sucker for Sherlock, and I do think Elementary is one of the finest and most creative interpretations I have come across.

Have also started watching Backstrom - it really is very good. If you like the formula of a cranky detective (think House) who is also brilliant at what he does.

I am glad that after grand success of 'Breaking Bad', Vince Gilligan is back, and this time he is back with 'Better Call Saul' *ing Bob Odenkirk. 'Better Call Saul' is a prequel and somewhat sequel to 'Breaking Bad'. To me, till date, 'Breaking Bad' is the best thriller featured on telly. BTW, on season 4, episode2, Jesse Pinkman(played by Aaron Paul) introduces his buddies, to newly-bought, huge sound system. What are these? Does anyone have any clue? Please see the attachment.

Well, as far as I know, there are...

Spectrum Analyser
20 Band Graphic Equaliser
dB Display from American Audio
A LED display for the music

May be a few more but can't make out.

All mounted in a rack.

A new crime show in town

BOSCH - Bosch (TV Series 2014 ) - IMDb

The pilot episode was aired closed to an year back and the rest of the 9 episodes of season 1 were released yesterday in Amazon.
The pilot is very interesting and appears to be solving the murder mystery over a season as against an episode (Castle , Forever, etc)..

Another fantastic british Mini -series
Jekyll - Jekyll (TV Mini-Series 2007) - IMDb

A clever adaptation of Dr.Jekyll and Mr Hyde in an intersting way with only 6 episodes. Good one.

mate, highly recommended. Its in a modern setting, but does justice to Arthur Conan Doyle's version of Sherlock Holmes, but with modern twists.

The missing Not sure if this has already been mentioned in the thread earlier. Just started it and looks great so far.
Again as mentioned by #musicbee, SHERLOCK is a must.

Thanks Guys! But have seen both the series. :thumbsup:

Let me know, if there are any other british/europe based detective TV series.

Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett).......it was wonderful........

Well the old Jeremy Brett Sherlock series was indeed wonderful, enjoyed every episode of it.

However I don't quite agree with the rave reviews of the new Sherlock i.e. the Benedict Cumberbatch series.
Sherlock (TV Series 2010 ) - IMDb

For starts I felt this series was quite overrated.

It was centered around the "Sherlock" character rather than actual detective work or crime solving. There is a lot of chaos and the detective seems to be super intelligent and suddenly unravels the mystery while most of the audience is still puzzled and figuring out whats going on.

Maybe it is just me but at the end of it I felt I just wasted my time :ohyeah:
