Fans of Television Series

^^ Damm you are following exactly my route ....... :)

True! I am cyber stalking you for good serials.

Was planning on Revenge next but that's already being aired on Star World so following along on TV.

After Dollhouse, next series in line is Heroes... entire 4 seasons.

In between all the power cuts, have been watching "The Wire" lately. In short, it's realistic and the first season was fantastic. The second season did not do much for me.

Lot of characters and parallel story lines. It lets you see the core drug problem from a wide angle, from all sides. I like how characters are not all painted in black and white. There's a good side to some drug dealers and bad side to cops. I also like how politics and selfish motives determine (or in some cases, undermine) things as in real life. There are some recognizable faces (like Lance Reddick from 'Fringe'), but hardly any stars that make you see past the characters they play. It does not focus on just one or two 'lead' characters as in most dramas, but tries it's best to present slice of each character. Laughs are always part of the plot. Few moments are poetic when you think back on them, but without pushing them as such in your face.

But, it takes it's own time to build on characters and the plot, hardly pumps up the adrenalin just for the sake of it, hardly uses visual cues/lighting to show off - no sugar coating, no s*xing up, no shouting off the roof top to make a point......nothing. It uses lot of local slang and internal terms/jargon, which at times leads a vague understanding (or googling). It's most likened to reading a huge hard bound book that you can use for pillow. It could be a bit tedious at times if you have no interest in the character which is the subject of that 'chapter'.

Is it the best series ever made? I don't know. I think like every other series, it would appeal to some, but not to each and everybody on the planet. Is it the best series I've ever watched? I am not sure yet though it is currently in my 'top-tier' so to say. But, it is definitely different from most run-of-the-mill shows.

Continuing...

Dexter, Fringe, The Walking Dead, Castle, Supernatural

Planned for Later....

Sherlock, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Twin Peaks, Lost, Prison Break, Spartacus (Gods of Arena and Vengeance)

Due to some error in routing power, we have been getting almost full power for the past few days. Utilizing that, continuing with "The Wire".

For my tastes and preferences, I'd say the fourth season of 'The Wire' is my most favorite season of any series I've watched thus far. The Wire goes about it's social commentary without being preachy, without giving a heart-warming closure that most people would love to have. Through out the series, we see characters which are introduced as sloppy or quiet, change our perception of them as we get to know more and more about them.

That and .... this.... :p. Now, I can't say it any other way!

The fifth and conculding season of Fringe has started. Watching episodes on a weekly basis as and when they are made "available" :) Totally different direction in which the story is moving now, with Observers taking over the rule in the world (prequel was shown in a single episode of season 4) and Peter , Walter and Olivia and her daughter in future is all set to save the earth. This series continues to amaze me even in the fifth season being ever thrilling as before. Wish William Bell joins the party with some of his super experiment or weapons :). Trailer of next episode shows Broyles will be coming in that.

Started with Heroes (TV Series 2006–2010) - IMDb. Watched 6 episodes and the series is pretty much unique compared to other superhero serials. The theme is genetic mutation that endows some people with unique and superhero powers and how they need to get together and save the world.

Will update after watching more episodes... right now things are poised very well with the "heroes' only starting to discover their powers/abilities and still in the process of discovering their "mission in life".

now watching ABAR JOKHER DHAN....a pre cable tv era time classic bengali (DD bangla)...Tv series...till date I could not find any top notch serial which satisfies me like that....the series was shooted with perhaps the lowest cost sets etc:)....still its rocking...:yahoo:

Started watching the new spy action thriller called 'Hunted', beautifully shot in Europe with a heroine whose lips I cant stop staring at. Very good action and twists. Though not as tight as Homeland, it's started well (4 episodes down).

Thanks. I like it. I saw the first 3 episodes in one sitting

Homeland yes I have that, shed some more light on this. I have to start something new after I finish with Revenge ..... I am at 17th ep. at 22 SE01 will finish. and Season 02 is still on air so have to wait for it to complete before I start venturing in to it.

Another interesting TV series I just got is Continuum ..... so will see what to start between this and homeland.

The walking dead SE03 also has started, but I will wait till atleast 5 ep are aired before I get those .....

Need to check out Homeland. Been watching Revenge.

I love The Walking Dead and have seen both seasons.

I will also recommend Falling Skies, Prison Break, Alcatraz, True Blood, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, Justified, Deadwood, and Alias.

PS - Not mentioning the usual suspects like Lost, Big Bang Theory, Dexter, The Shield, 24, etc.

Homeland is on top of my chart now, since Breaking Bad took a mid-season sabbatical.

Outstanding acting and cliche-free scripting, with Claire Danes as a brilliant, but psychologically unstable CIA agent. You never know what the manic, heavily medicated heroine will do next, unlike the usual spy hero who always does the right thing. Plus, a sweet classic jazz infused soundtrack.

I have seen True Blood, Prison Break, Alcatraz and the Sopranos. Falling Skies looked good but then few reviews turned me against it ..... Off the above Justified seems pretty interesting and has a high rating as well. Alias comes very much next .....

Rest.. Lost, BBT, Dexter, 24 all seen,,, :)

Just finished watching Spartacus season 01-Blood and Sand and season 02-Vengeance. Its simply awesome. Both Andy Whitfield and Liam McIntrye acted superbly.

yep seen "how I met your mother" not the entire 8 seasons, but the first. Lost interest after that .... :)

I like Once upon a time, nice mixture of fairy tales and modern day suspense.

Heroes to me got far too complicated after Season 2 and I lost interest.

^^ Yes HEROES was ruined in se 02 and more in 03 infact, but 04 managed to redeem the show a bit .... still with se01 it remains one of my top shows ...

Also to update my last ep 21 n 22 are left for season one of REVENGE and I must say, it has really gone very very interesting in the last 4,5 episodes. I think I will give season 2 a shot as well.....
