Excerpts from the article i quoted in my previous post :

"However, experts are not the target audience of the music industry. Bollywood movies have been portraying the retro theme in a big way. On the entertainment and fashion fronts, sound quality has started gaining momentum among consumers. Almost every top artiste is going back to the analog format as it is more natural and earthy in contrast to digital sound which is very clean, says Mr Nirjhar Mukherjee, Manager, Studio Operations, Saregama India.

Mr Mukherjee notes that the highest demand in vinyl has been for R. D. Burman's Bollywood collections. The company is finalising the release list for August-September and it will include several titles of the 1970s and 1980s"

sourav you beat me to the news. however the news is as genuine as it gets.
chhote nawab was the first rdb title.
a third title will also be released i think thats apradhi.
dealers have already recieved mail regarding these titles from saregama.
by the way... now that vinyls are being released so frequently, can we expect them to cost half their current shelf price??
prem bhai??? anyone else who can convey this to those honchos from saregama.

Hi Dr

Prices are unlikely to come down. Vinyls are not pirated unlike cds. Its not that by bringing the price down by Rs 100, people will flock to buy these lps. Secondly they are releasing titles like Chhote Nawab and Apradhi which were never released on lp format

Amid all this tumult of a potential explosion of interest and offtake of new old LPs by the new Indian analogue aficionado, my search for the following titles continues :

> Anubhav ( 1971)
> Teen Devian (1965)
> Teesri Manzil (1966)
> Guide (1965)
> Jewel Thief (1967)
> Pyaasa (1957)
> Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959)

Hi Issigonis

I am not sure Anubhav was released on the 12 inch lp format. I have seen it on ep

never tried for Anubhav, rest all are easily available, you are Mumbai, search in road side LP sellers, you will get all below 200/-, all HMV pressings, among these Jewel Thief is the sure winner (quality of pressing), Teesri Manzil is close second, if you are willing to spend more than what they worth try ebay US, there are indian sellers making fortune out of used records, my suggestion is try Mumbai's old record shops

My personal observation has been Pyaasa,Kagaz Ke Phool and Teen Devian LPs are not way ahead of the CDs considering the limited technical facility available for recoding in those days.

prem,

Will keep that in mind when searching. It had (only)four sublime songs, three by the ethereal Geeta Dutt, one by Manna Dey. But the high point is the music by Kanu Dutt (no relation to Geeta D) - almost like Beckett being set to music - magical minimalism!

Not landed it yet.

akd,

All the ones that I've listed aren't available as of July 2011, from Razzakbhai. Have requested him to search. If you have contact details of other, reliable second hand record shops in Bombay, do let me know.

Regards, groove safe

2.Lata - An Era In An Evening
3.Parwaaz-Live In Singapore
4.Sufiaana
5.Jana Gana Mana :yahoo::yahoo:

i got the same LPs yesterday but was very disappointed to listen to Kabhi Kabhi. It sounded like a MOno recording. For some time i thought there was aproblem with my TT and played other LPs from my collection and the set-up was all right but the LP of Kabhi Kabhi is badly recorded. Did others have similar experience?
Abhijit

Just listened to this new record on my sl1200mk2. It sounds both channels same but crisp. Yes, it sounds like mono recording

Ya all RPG rel sound like a cd played via a dvd player. Extremely disappointing. Just listen to the old pakeeza lp and the newly released one. such quality of lps rel are not going to sell and then the company will say theres no market for vinyls.
Got the new rel of Veer zara last week and was surprised to hear the quality. Its just amazing. please give the veer zara new rel a try its beautiful!

Sorry to hear that, you are in Kolkata - whats the need to buy online?? you can get almost any bengali, Hindi (I hv not ventured into English, but there are plenty) LP over there at excellent prices, Just visit wellington and keep your eyes and ears open, just a small suggestion - what you get (both rarity and price) by physically digging old record shops can't be matched by anything at all - this is my understanding developed in last one decade. People tend to neglect dusty record shops for they feel records over there are of bad quality, once you get your stuff in brand new condition you will wonder how wrong they are!!

Same experince here. Got 3 Idiots from FlipKart... It was badly wraped...worse that some of the records I got from Junkyard...I believe its "T-Series" issue. Other records fom Flipkart (SONY) were of good quality
