Hathway goes HD in Bangalore??

folks,

any idea on second HD connection cost? i already have 1 HD connection and would like to go for a second HD connection...

the local cable guy said...i will have to pay the same amount (HD STB box + ~Rs. 2k/year for HD + monthly SD channel charges)...even for the second one...

Kindly share...thanks in advance.

Yes, that is right. Currently they don't have a separate plan for second HD connection. It is going to be treated as a primary connection. You will have to pay in full for HD but may be for SD channels they will give some discount.

If you have to pay the full amount, I would suggest you wait for few months. They are planning to launch the HD-DVR box.

If I'm not mistaken, it looks like channels are added and removed on a regular basis but since they seem to be regional/kids/foreign language channels, I dont really know which these channels are.

But the sad thing is Travel XP HD seems to show no signs of returning.

Yes. They have been adding channels but removing equal number of channels as well. Everytime when I ask them, they say count will increase in a month and its been so many months, count has not increased. Hopefully, we should be able to see the count going up soon. I hope even HD count increases.

The ads for Star World Premiere HD show that its available on channel 376. I cant see it in Bangalore. Is anyone in any other city receiving it?

Is this is a subscription-only channel? I'm not very clear about it.

The channel is available in Pune and Mumbai as of now. It is a subscription based channel just like HBO channels. Price is Rs60/month.

It will be added in Bangalore soon once they sort out space issue to add more channels. I heard that they will be adding more channels by December end.

Karnataka packages are out: http://www.hathway.com/cable-tv/karnataka_crf.pdf

Basic: Rs 100/- + Tax
Janapriya: Rs 180/- + Tax
Bangara: Rs 270/- + Tax
Vajra: Rs 375/- + Tax

There are many add on packs too. You can also see the channels which will be added soon in the pdf.

You can also see this information here: :: hathw@y :: but it is not upto date.

Looks like it is going to be a costly affair when they implement the package!

Really good info! It looks like its going to be an expensive proposition indeed.

Lots of channels are "Launching shortly" but I wonder if prices will prohibit us from ever viewing them.

Star World Premier HD is now added: Channel 376 in Bangalore as per the program guide.
The channel is now available with the name 'Star World Premier HD', but as of yesterday, all I can see on that channel is a still image from Fox Traveller HD.

Cheers,

What is the annual subscription charge for HD in Bangalore? I had it for one year and then did not renew it since I was out of station. Right now, all the channels from 350 to 400 appears with some error message.

HD setup box software updated to version 109 in mumbai ...i think the previous version was 103 ....could not find any major changes though...i wish the recording feature is activated

Mine is also now at 109 and I too didnt find any changes in terms of features/usability.

It only looks like some menu icons are new and the a box on the left part of the banner seems to support ads now.

I find that a number of channels are blank (black screen) but have the program info for the channel here (Bangalore). Star World, Zee Cafe, DW TV, Australia TV to name a few. They have been this way for quite some time. I remember this happened last year and someone said Hathway had not paid Star / Zee networks so they had stopped the service.
Is this the case in all areas of Bangalore or is it my cable operator?

Most other services I've had normally put an apology.

I ve found that Hathway in bangalore has the worst customer service. They never respond to your calls and never give any ticket numbers even if you do somehow manage to reach them. The nodal officer simply said that cable-tv did not come under his purview.
