Brilliant! Ten HD and Discovery HD added. Just to clarify, the actual name of the channel is Discovery HD World. Its a different channel from the regular Discovery. This and NGC HD are not simulcasts of the India specific channels. I believe they are Asia-wide channels and dont have ads (correct me if I'm wrong).

I think all the Star HD channels and Colors HD are simulcasts of the regular channels ie they have all the ads and have the same shows.

If they add Star and NGC HD Hathway is gonna be amazing VFM!

The CNBC HD channel is a waste, unless you want to see stock market figures in HD!
Re audio : The mtunes audio does not appear to be in stereo, leave alone 5.1.
Also, I have connected the HD set-top box to my receiver (Denon 1911), it doesn't appear to be in 5.1 surround sound.
When I connect my bd player to my avr, multi ch in signifies 5.1 surround and the avr recognises and displays dolby digital on its screen. No such thing happens with this hd box. There is an option under audio settings to choose dolby d or PCM in the box, but no effect on the sound . Ideas anyone?

Not all programming are in 5.1 .M tunes transmits 5.1 some times.And more over hathway has to re transmit it.And what about movies now ?

Just asked my cable guy and he said the same thing. Cost is Rs. 6666 for the HD box and service for a year. There is no other payment option, not even half-yearly, which is what I've been doing for the past 8 years.

I pay 3000 per year for cable as of now and paying 6666 seems quite steep, especially considering the box doesnt have recording. If they had a box that supported recording, even paying 8-10k would not be bad as that is a very useful feature. But as of now, seems expensive. Hope they can provide a better deal in a few months.

HYD hathway guys told that they have the bandwidth for 20 HD channels and that it might take 1-2 months to add all 20 as negotiations are going on....

What is the package / subscription cost. So post 1-year what do you end up paying on monthly basis? Also is there a list of channels that Hathway gives ot do an apple-to-apple comparison with other operators like Videocon, TataSky etc.

There is only one package which is Rs6,666/year now. This includes all the HD and SD channels. This also includes future HD and SD channel additions.
Price after first year... well, no one knows.

Just wait for 1 or 2 months and the price will come down and more HD channels will be added. And they will start offering only STB and monthly payment options. Just a matter of time.

I'm at Hyderabad. Today the Hathway guy came with the HD STB for a demo. They are having only the Rs 6666 package (including 1 year subscription) They are offering only 10 HD channels now and another 4 to be added soon. No word on when it will be available.The HD cannels looked better on my LED TV but the non-HD channels looked dull as compared to the broadcast thru the Humax STB. I have asked him to give me the box for couple of days to watch before making a decision. So will be getting it next Friday.

The menu looks sharp but the menu programming looks very basic. Few misses so far:
1. no EPG available for HD channels
2. No games available
3. No interactive channels
4. No on demmand/PPV channels.
5. No separate monthly/quarterly/half yearly packages available.
While leaving that guy said that the STB was not programmed properly. He will give a better STB on Friday.

The HDMI port sends the signals to TV as 1080i. There is an ethernet port and a USB port. The guy was not sure what it was used for. More after my
