Hi, if you can stretch your budget then the panasonic 42V20 is the best 2d tv you can ever get your hands on. If not then go with Samsung 40D550.

Thanks a lot guys for ur suggestions, appreciate it-:-)

Only thing which makes me think abt D550 is screen size, m upgrading from 32"LCD so that extra 2"-3'" in other TVs makes lot of difference? What you guys say?
Panasonic V20 is more than 50k I assume so can't stretch the budget. How's Samsung 43D450/490 plasma?

That's a great price.
I m in Delhi and can't find any V20 here.
Btw how's Panasonic 42U30D?

I did not like the SD PQ at the show room on P42V20 Though.

Have not connected at my place so not sure there will a difference.

if not the V20, then go with samsung........only go with Panasonic if you can get the neo pdp panels available in V,G,S series. U and X series do not have neo pdp, therefore are not recommended. Though being decent entry level tv's you will find better entry level tvs with Samsung.

Remember V series is the top of the line for Panasonic, V20 was rated as one of the best 2D tvs of 2010, if not the best. You cant compare it with entry level tvs from Samsung, no comparison!!!

Suggest to keep trying to source V20 at a good price, only if not possible then go ahead with Samsung.

hey techie
you got to decide about plasma vs lcd! if you have a brightly lit room or there is a window facing the tv then a plasma tv in this range is out of the question because of the reflection issues! if you dont have this problem them you can go for a plasma tv. the 43d450 & 43d490 (3D) one of the best tv's in this price range! they are not full hd tvs though but if you dont sit close you wont make out the difference. the other plasma tv in this price range is the panasonic 42x30 & 42u30,though the availability of the 42u30 is a doubt and it is slightly more pricy!

i dont know much about lcd tvs but the 40d550 is quite good. check out some sony tvs as well. at the end of the day you got to demo the tvs before you decide

Thanks a lot guys for inputs. Well room has no problem of light so can go with plasma.
I have demoed Panasonic 42X30D, Samsung ps43D450,Samsung 40D550,Sony BX420,LG42LK430/450
and out of these I liked PQ OF Samsung PS43D450/490 and Sony BX420 best followed by Samsung 40D550. Getting Sony 40 BX420 for 37k with Dealer warranty. How's going with dealer warranty?

Upgrading to a 40" TV from 32" TV is foolish.
Better wait for sometime or get the 43" samsung plasmas.

Be noted that the plasmas in this range are not very good if you have windows facing the TV. The ambient light in the room will not affect though.

The 50" D490 plasma is a vrey good upgrade at 50-55k.
If you are going with EMI, this wont make much of a difference too and you can defer any upgradation further away.

Thanks:-) Ya that what m thinking dont see so much worth moving from 32 to 40", will go n see 50D490 and then decide. Ya if going for EMI I can extend budget to 55k so now question raises won't be there any better TVs than 51D490 at that price range?

EDIT
@BLASTO
I am quoted 37k for 43D450 after bargaining, I saw in another thread you said its price to be 34k ,any place in Delhi or online if you are aware of I can get at that price?

I have decided to get Samsung 43PSD490, want to ask do I need to take any precaution during initial usage on plasma?

Thanks, so I just can use TV mode with black and white dots and use Tv at 50% settings. Can you please tell what exact settings of color, contrast, brightness for first 200 hours should be? How much hours in a day I should use Tv in TV MODE?

The settings depends on the TV and your liking. It should be close to 50% because it becomes bright enough close to 60. It is not hard and fast though.

The TV mode is to reach the 100-200 hrs faster. You can use it when you are at office or at nights. There is no fixed number of hours. Just stop using it when you are past 100 if you keep the settings at 100 or 200 hours if you keep the settings at 50 in static mode. The TV would have reached enough maturity to evade 95% IR by that time.

Okay great. So I can watch normal Tv for first 100-200 hours and should avoid black bars. I have airtel HD box so logo of airtel or any other channel will have affect even at 50% settings?

Also I saw tv listed on letsbuy site is PN43D490 instead of PS43D490.I understand that PN is American model , so want to ask if I order from letsbuy what will, I get, if I get the PN will its warranty be applicable in India?
