I have almost decided to get the 43D490,Also should I consider 42U30D plasma considering its Full HD plasma and my viewing distance is 6-8 feet.
Plzz guys suggest as I got to get Tv today between these two.

Hello techie,
Consider this as a request rather than advise, don't go for a 42 incher, IMHO its always better to go for bigger size. I bet you, u will never regret buying its bigger brother the 50 incher Samsung 51D490, for Rs 56K. I have one and i'm really enjoying the big screen advantage.
The price difference is also not huge. And right now there are not a lot of 50 inch 3DTV's at Rs 56K.
Thanks a lot for your valuable suggestion. But dont you think considering 7-8" viewing distance 51" will be bigger, what you say? I also thought of 51D490 but later thought it will be bigger for that distance. Plzz advise.

My viewing distance is also 8-9 feet, that won't bother u at all. I have a 84 inch screen projector setup for the same viewing distance, i just can't express in words the viewing pleasure i get watching movie on my 84 inch screen. So, don't worry and go for the 50 incher brother.
Ok so m going for 50 inched, price you mentioned of 56k is from Samsung dealer? I enquired before and they agreed to 60k after bargaining.
FHD does not make a difference in 42". Atleast not to the extent of the cost differential between the 2.
51D550 which is FHD goes for 62k. You can get the 490 for 54-55k.

He can't advice for you. Few people enjoy while others see the pixels. All I can say is 43" will solve all your TV requirements for the distance currently but 51" will be future ready. 51" will bring in the OOmph factor for HD/3D movies but SD viewing is questionable though I dont see mandeep complain.
All you need is a demo from SAME viewing distance in the showroom of SD, HD and 3D. Decide based on that. I will not recommend if your viewing habit is >50% SD. AS simple as that. But, also note that the equation will tilt towards HD in the future.
Weigh your options and decide.
I demoed all 50 incher plasmas today.PQ of Samsung 51D490 and LG 50PT560R looked same to me ,very hard to tell the difference between the two. Saw Panasonic 50X30 D too but was not that good compared to other two. Since I m looking for 50 incher now(earlier I was eyeing 42" then later decided bigger the better) and have budget of 45-50k, I m thinking of getting LG50PT560R . Price of LG 560R is quoted 46k whereas 51D490 m not getting for less than 58k. I am not interested in 3D so is LG better choice considering price difference of 12k. plzz suggest.
So guys plz suggest should I get 43D490 or LG50PT560, since these two comes in budget , can't get my budget over 48k.

I would always say go for size.......for me size matters!!! However you need to take a call on this which is a personal choice. The samsung is definitely the better tv and I'm surprised lg is not even full HD at 50inches, though that should not be the only selection criteria.

you will know how good the samsung really is. It's a very detailed review. I would suggest take a demo of both the tv's with HD as well as SD content and then decide. Please demo both the plasmas under low ambient lighting, request the salesman to turn down the lights and then take the demo. I understand this can be a hard decision but end of the day.......go for what your eyes like.
If the lg really does not look that bad compared to the Samsung then for me anything less than 50" is not recommended. You need min 50" to really appreciate a true cinema experience.

My bro has bought a 42 " LG plasma recently it has problems with Image retention . It goes off with white and color wash options. But need to do it on regular basis. do not have idea abt IR on samsung.

Don't even think of getting an LG this year as suggested by many on HIFIVISION such as BLASTO, LG have some serious IR and quality issues. All LG is focusing on this year is passive LED's. Some shops here in chandigarh don't even have a single piece of 3D plasma's on demo.LG plasma's also use the same active shutter tech. for plasma, so no need to buy an LG
And Samsung 2011 plasma panels don't have any IR this year as per their official statement and the samsung panels are even thinner and better this year.

No IR on Samsung 51D490 so far.
Once you switch off the lights, all hell comes down with the LG since it has poor blacks. Avoid it.
