Help in selecting 42" TV

I have decided to get Samsung 43PSD490, want to ask do I need to take any precaution during initial usage on plasma?

Hi Techie,
I too am planning to buy the 43PSD490, how much did you buy it for and from where ( I am in Noida). I am getting it for 41k + 2 3d glasses

Ok guys after so much thinking I have decided to take 51D490. Its costing me 58.5 with 3D glasses. Hope it turn out to be a good decision:-)

Hi..techie... I m just going through ur post..u increased ur budget by 50%..whats matter..ha..
Hi
Well for the last 3-4 days I demoed all TVs and came to conclusion that 42 " somehow don't justify my upgrade from 32".Whenever I saw 50" i t really made me go for it,it just gives you cinema like experience. Since I won't be changing tv for the next 4-5 years why not go for bigger now then later crib.
I am taking on EMI so can manage with increased budget.

Thamks to Mandeep and Blasto for their valuable suggestions

Ground rule still applies.
I hope you dont have a window opposite to the TV.

Can anyone help me in decide which one of the following is better overall;

Full-HD 3D Plasma
  • Panasonic VIERA TH-P42GT20D
  • Samsung PS51D550

LED (non-3D)
  • Samsung UA40D5000PRMXL
  • Sony KDL-40EX520

Max budget revolves around Rs 60K.

Any other models are also welcome.

Interested in using it with Tata-Sky and watching movies with WDTV Live media player.

Also, except for the glasses and the price, what are the other downsides of Active 3D technology, if any ?

Whatever TV you buy, cimena experience is not possible. you ought to have projector. I was about to spend big money on big size TV. but after demo of all kind of TV. i realized big size TV is truly waste of money. your thirst of cinema exprience at home will never be satisfied. I finally bought panny [email protected]. I am really happy with my purhase and save lot of money for projector. its nearly a month after I bought, I am fully convinced that I made very good decision. 42x30 is not even full HD, but does it really matter? if viewing distance is more than 3 feet. i find PQ good and colors are also nice.
both SD and HD viewing experience is very good. but surely you need to manage reflections.

Thanks guys. As I went out of town, couldn't get new tv.
As I almost decided to buy Samsung 51D490, suddenly one question came to my mind whether I should go for FUll HD for screen size of 50" or 1365x768 of 51D490 is sufficient considering viewing distance of 7 feet.

At 7ft for 51", you might notice the difference between HD and FULL HD.

For non 3d, i would suggest panny led 42e30.

In 3d LG 6500 is widely recommended.

Passive 3d is more convinient due glasses weight, glasses, charging, glasses price, viewing angle etc.

Okay, so apart from Samsung 51D550,is there any other option which is 50"Full HD around 60k. What about LG 50PZ550?

LG was quoted at 75k before 2 months. Not sure if it came down now. But as suggested it would be better to avoid LG Plasma. The 3D transmitter too is first gen RF type.
At 70k, you might get PANA 50VT20 in the group buy happening in the forum.
Pana's 3yr warranty might be considerable if you hesitate with the quoted price.

Thanks. I will go n see 51D550 tomorrow and then will decide, if I won't be able to see(fair)difference in 51D490 and 51D550 playing HD content from 7-8 feet, I will stick with 51D490 as I have Already stretched my budget from 45k to 60k :-).

What type of 3D glasses Samsung plasmas come with?

Ok guys, wanted to ask last time before buying new tv tomorrow. I got an offer of 57k from local dealer for LG 50PZ550,I know people here don't recommend LG plasmas ,but wanted to ask before taking a plunge since I think its pretty good price for 50" Full HD plasma.

Other option is Samsung 51D490 getting for 58k. I m getting D550 for 67k here so i don't want to go for it as I don't want to go beyond 60k.

SO please suggest Samsung 51D490 at 58k or LG 50PZ550 at 57k.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
