Hisense TVs India Price and availability - Blocked by Hisense!

The thing with Hisense is that they have their own brand plus Toshiba, Sharp and also supplies as OEM, so any model could be easily be created using a variety of parts bin they have. So there is no way to tell what you are getting without a proper review.

The problem is that we won't get a proper review though, since there's not a single reviewer I trust. All of them are like 'Picture quality looks good. Colours are accurate, HDR works, netflix works' and end the review. They even gave good review to the cheap TCL garbage. Do you know of any reviewer who will actually test and we'll know whether the unit is an H9G or not?

As of now, the panel being H9G seems fairly plausible to me since it physically looks similar, has the same weight (23.9 KG for both U8080 and H9G, while 24.8 kg for U8QF) and the specs are obviously the same.

The things to verify are panel depth (true 10-bit v/s 8-bit + FRC), local dimming zones (H9G has 180, U8QF has 132) and the actual image quality.

In Toshiba India Website it is written as Native 120hz Panel.

I think panel look and weight are not enough data to tell anything and is just grasping for straws. In consumer products there are dozens of SKUs sometimes with same name (Samsung Q80T India vs US etc). I would be happy to be proven wrong since it will be great to finally not see India as a dumping ground for inferior products but color me skeptical.

See this video from Toshiba YT channel from yesterday

Along with local dimming pro, Super Brightness and Quantum Dot Color it also talks about wide angle ADS panel. ADS panel is nothing but IPS and we all know that H9G comes with VA panel so unless there is another QLED from Toshiba releasing this week is no way this is same as H9G.

Thanks for that. So it seems like it's a completely different panel compared to any display out of Hisense if it indeed has an IPS panel. Also IPS have horrible black levels but I haven't seen any IPS with FALD before.

It might also be that they are advertising their entire TV line and the IPS panel might be for the other TV. But if U8080 does have IPS, it'll be a no go for me.

Edit: Seems like they're indeed advertising all the features in their lineup. Look at their bottom tier TVs:

They clearly mention ADS panel in specs.

LG Nanocell tvs are IPS with FALD.

Also panasonic GX800 in india has IPS panel. But in Uk and other countries has VA panel.

It is possible that the content team working for Toshiba just made generic video for the entire lineup without thinking what is a premium spec and what is not. They should really do a better job at marketing though.

Edit: looks like you might be right. The bottom bezel indeed seems different.

Adding more to mystery reliance says ita a VA panel with 5000 contrast ratio.check the specifications here

This is really hilarious :D, One says that the back panel resembles the H9G which is true hence U8080 is H9G and another one says that the front side resembles U8QF/Q8(Australia) which is also true, hence U8080 is U8QF/Q8. But the real culprit here for all this mess is Hisense India. I really doubt whether Toshiba will divulge full spec sheet of U8080 even after launch, we had to find out the details ourselves from UK website for U7QF, remember ? Anyways I don't have much faith in Hisense India and I still believe what we are getting is a trimmed down version of H9G. I think, we are giving more importance to this TV than it actually deserves, it ain't worth it. Just let it arrive !!!

Btw, U7QF is now available on Amazon.

The front panel resembles both the H9G and the U8QF, so it's not a conclusive evidence for it being U8QF. In fact, this TV is likely something else entirely and either a newer version (like U9QF) or some other stripped down version of H9G. It can be H9G as well, but chances seem slimmer now.

LG Nanocell is regarded as pretty poor TVs for movie watching. Same with Panasonic which is dumping trash in India. Anyway, I think there's enough evidence now that this TV doesn't have IPS panel.

Query to all the guys interested on Toshiba U8080 Launch on 18h Sept.

As Hisense has already launched some of its TV Lineups in India, how Toshibha can rebrand a Hisense Higher end Model H9G in India..? This doesn't make any sense at all....

It can happen due to anti China issue!!! They want to promote Toshiba brand. It got Japanese back ground.

I agree. No one should buy IPS tvs unless they have viewing angle issue and very bright room. I was just saying such tvs exist.

I think the main point got lost in between the heated discussion here is that the toshiba U7980 is a good option for people looking to buy a new tv with budget constraints.I think this is good enough for you DTH,OTT,even Normal gaming.

There are few logical reasons for it.

1)this tv is price at 65K which is very good and all the other lesser spec 65 inches are also priced in similar range.

2)Only tv under 1 lac to give you FALD and 700+Nits brightness.

3)This tv can be comparable to Q80T(obviously a better tv) which is priced 1.5L as per Samsung website. You might get cheaper offline.but its still more than double.

Of course this is not the perfect tv.there is none. But for the price Nothing even comes close. Please dont get confused by other tv jargons such as 8bit+FRC,Banding,Gradient,Black Uniformity,Grey Uniformity,EOTF,Tone mapping etc etc.If this tv doing bad then other tvs below 1 lac are a disaster in this department.

Note:- I am going purely by specs mentioned on reliance and toshiba india.I dont wanna go in to the debate of H8F and H8G and UQ7F whatever. This is what we are getting in india and its very good.for 65K

Completely agree. While we do not know what U8080 will bring, the U7980 seems like a good buy. It's most likely last year's H8F which has no competition in the sub 50k segment for 55" and sub 70k segment in 65". The only other TVs even worth considering <1 lakh are Samsung 55" frame 2020 (75k after EMI discount) and Samsung Q70R (85-90k for 55"). U7980 is so cheap for 55"(45-48k) that I'll just get one for my parents without reservation. They are using a 42" Sony 1080p TV from 2013, which is frankly getting quite old. I hope there are deals around Diwali that make the U7980k sub 40k.

It's a real shame that Samsung's Q lineup is a disaster in 2020. Q80T is comparable to Q70R in specs while nearly 40% more expensive than even the Q80R (which is comparable to Q90T).
