Hmm.. not in case of U8080. It's pretty much evident that the TV is nothing but a rebranded H9G.
I don't think any company would prefer to take that much effort to make H9F to look like H9G. May be Toshiba pays loyalty behind the scenes. We never knew. But I strongly believe it's a rebranded/trimmed down H9G. Only time will tell.

In that case, it will be the best 65 inch budget TV.

If a TV can achieve OLED black levels and can get bright like 1000nits. Then its the best of both technology that Dual Cell tech has some serious potential.
I dont think Dual Cell Tv can get that bright. It will have brightness more or less in the OLED range(500-700 Nits).

Toshiba already sold off their Television business to Hisense, along with the license to use it's name so if anything Hisense is trying to bank up on Toshiba's brand value owing to it's Japanese origin.

Toshiba is not delivering the U7980.Today reliance emailed my friend and cancelled the order.

It's strange why do these people take pre-order when they can not deliver the product.

I dont know who is at fault reliance or Toshiba or both. Its not good news for those who are looking forward to buying this tv.

Worst part is there is no other tv with the similar specs, next best option UQ7F which is costing 25K extra and god knows If Hisense will deliver that TV.

Damn its gonna b painful wait then i was so eager regarding Toshiba 65 U 8080 my budget is around 1 lacs

I was waiting for a 65" QLED, FALD, HDR10+ and native 120Hz panel TV and narrowed down to these models - Hisense 65U7QF, Toshiba 65U8080 (or U7980) and TCL 65X4US or 65C815.

TCL X4US does not have bluetooth. I'd like to pair my headset for night watching without disturbing my family.

The Toshiba's VIDAA U4 OS is Linux based and does not have Disney+Hotstar and Zee5 apps even in it's own play store to add later.. I have free subscription of these from Jio/Airtel.

I guess all brands launching TVs in India in 2020 are thinking Indians are fools.

FLAD TVs coming soon from Toshiba, Hisense and TCL do not mention the number of zones. What if I'm paying 1lakh+ for 20~30 zone local dimming but it's marketed as "Full Array". TCL is worst here by marketing "Local Dimming" and "Micro Dimming" on their "premium" C815 series but it's Edge-lit LED..??

These are the premium TV's these brand offer in India?

Toshiba, Hisense, TCL do not mention the Bluetooth codecs that the TV supports like HID (supports BT keyboard/mouse ) A2DP (stereo audio - one way or two way), AVRCP (BT remotes). Only Sony mentions these extensive details.

Now if Mi also does something like this with their Horizon TV, its going to be bad on them for creating the hype..

Oh! Don't forget Ridaex! Their page says its checking for security before loading.. :D What are you trying to do? The most sketchy marketing page I've ever seen with multiple contradicting information.

I must say don't waste your money on garbage TVs from these brands.
Please don't say, "this is what we get and I'm happy with it". Let these brands fail in India with little sales so that they are forced to treat us on par with the rest of the globe.

I think one should not be over excited with Toshiba.Their customer care is most horrible I ever experienced (across all type of products). They have no clue about products, point if sales....nothing intact.Imagine interaction with them after purchasing the product.I don't run after brands, neither I am a fan of but horrible customer service can definitely make one consider established brands.

If these brands gone then our big 3 brands will increase the price 3 times more also.... already these brands price are very high if we compare with US pricing! Bb

Does anyone know the prices of Hisense 58 inches and 70 inches 4k TVs that were apparently launched in India? Also, Would you know the Price For Their 65 inch QLED H8G equivalent?

I asked Hisense about the potential price for the QLED on Twitter but they blocked me and deleted my posts.

I think Hisense is ditching OLED technology.

“We are currently focused on making ULED XD successful due to its strong PQ (picture quality) performance and value proposition vs OLED," a Hisense representative said in a statement to TechRadar

True.. That's how the economy works - more players = more competition = better prices for the end consumer if the brand has to stay afloat.

The reason why Xiaomi, OnePlus and Realme are in the TV business, especially in India, is after seeing how VU made a name for itself here. VU started with re-branded Hisense TVs. I use a VU TV currently (bought in 2016) but its actually a Hisense TV re-branded.
OnePlus launched India-only TVs! The recognition of India as a a huge market is definitely there. And if sales figures are looked at, people here actually go for better features rather than just the price.

I like the fact that we have a choice of brands and each is actually competing to launch compelling "feature-rich" TVs but also hate that we are always seen as a dump-yard of old tech. It's always that the products that launch in India are at least a year old in terms of technology.

Its known that almost all TV manufacturers in India are only assembling the parts that are imported. There are no manufacturers of panels, PCBs and chips in India. So nothing is truly "made in India", just assembled. In this case, it's not difficult for the brands to import the newer-tech parts and assemble in India. I see this as pure low-minded thinking of these brands. If the MSRP of 65" H9G is $1000 in the USA (~74k INR), after considering their part import duties, labour, etc., directly converting the price to INR must make sense. The brand cannot demand a premium thinking they can milk us easily.

Then again, if i have to go for my requirements (65" QLED, FALD, HDR10+ and native 120Hz panel TV with Android OS) I have none in India that are on par with US pricing.
Hisense 65U7QF is what I have to "settle" with. Hisense's own page says equivalent global model is H8G which retails for $700 for 65" (~52K INR) but here I have to pay 90K. This is still not close to what I want since U7QF is only 60Hz native refresh rate. I also learnt that this TV has only 72 zones local dimming as I feared (watch?v=ZL1k2tFZCmc), nothing close to 100+ zones other TVs offer.

I need to clarify another posts -
The Hisense H9G is same as Toshiba U8080 and not U7980. Main reason is H9G and U8080 are both QLED, 120Hz native refresh rate panels. U7980 is LED panel and has no QLED layer.
Also, the Toshiba U7980 is not the closest match to Hisense U7QF since Toshiba lacks the QLED layer which explains the cost difference. U8080 minus Android = H9G.

Hopefully Mi Horizon TV is up to my requirements. Fingers crossed!

Cool! Got you! Update on the mail I had sent regarding u8080. Still no reply after 4 days! I have sent a second one, if they don't reply in 2 days I'm gonna escalate it. Can't believe they don't reply to a general query in 4 days.
Email update: 7 days since a general query regarding launch of u8080 with no reply. This is unbelievable, atleast they should have mailed something by now..like they can't disclose that info or whatever. After 2 mails and 1 week finally wrote a 3rd to the DGM for customer experience and service head of appliances. Let's see! I can already see poor after sales support....I can't imagine chasing them afterwards

Hisense H9G Quantum Series 4K TV Review | Digital Trends
Guys, I just came across this video, skip to Motion Handling and Processing @ 3:32. The stutter in motion is completely un-acceptable, I have already seen this a lot in VU budget 4K Android TVs coupled with banding effect and Hisense H9G doesn't look much different and this is not at all acceptable in a 1 lakh TV that is pitched against Sony and Samsung High-End Stuff, if US version of H9G is like this then I can only imagine how Indianized version of H9G will look like. You can also observe a lot of noise in the picture. Note: This could be a panel lottery issue, but how persistent and frequent it is ? And is Hisense India willing to replace the TV if such things are noticed by the user ?

A must watch, if you haven't Hisense H9F TV Review: Warranty Claim for Dirty Screen DSE? YES! , Very Interesting.
