Its raining vintage TTs

Plinth folks - you can get 10mm by using a combination of 6mm ply with a 4mm veneer.

That's clever.

Any progress in the plinth GB?

I have sort of decided to use my existing plinth. Will add two more 18 mm layers at the bottom to make it real thick and heavy (a la Jean Nantais' Reference Lenco:) )

Wow WoW. Lovely acquisition Shafic. A second lady Lenco. How did this happen?

BTW, I must say your setup looks very warm and nice.

Another plinth build on its way. Need another pair of hand for help

How did this happen? That my friend is a story in itself.
I got a call from a loyal source that he had some Tamil and Eng LPs as well as some rare 78 rpm hindi Lps(bhoot bangla). He was headed to his native village for Dassehra today evening and needed the money.

In my haste to reach the bank, I locked myself out of my flat and had to get somebody to climb through the balcony to open the door. After all this I reach this person to find the Eng LPs in very bad shape and the Tamil LPs turned out to be all devotional. Fed up with the waste of time, I rang up another source who said that he had a lenco and i could come and see it. Could not resist the temptation and i just grabbed it.
This is just co incidence and pure luck.
Now the question is " IS LADY KI JODI KAUN HAI?".

Thanks for the appreciation, I already started the process of collecting the materials for L75 plinth along with some FM friends.Lets see how it works out.

( Birch ply,MDF,Granite top etc)

Indeed a story in its self! There is something soo mystic about these vintage players and records, that our experiences always have a tale or two to tell. Well, that's the charm of these beauties and we simply love it no matter how they come :).

These have really put a spell on me.....

Oh, talking about spells, I'm listening to some lovely Jazz, and my whole bed is spread with 33s as I am sorting them out.

Hi Shafic

Wow. Where did you get the Sabas in Mumbai? Would love to hear them sometime.

Hi joshua,
i am collecting information about BALTIC BIRCH ply.Birch 18 mm ply is available, also Birch veneer. Your idea of using the original wooden plinth and adding some Birch layers is the good one.:clapping:
We can meet some time and listen to some good music.

No LPs from Goa. Was just sorting my LP collection to my favorites. Goa was simply fun. Really enjoyed and relaxed quite a bit. But I must tell you, every Portuguese house I saw especially in Old Goa I am sure they have treasures. Goans are extremely passionate about music.

Photography, yes I love photography as well especially wildlife, but from the last 2 years I seem to click everything. Turntables being the new entrant. Would like to meet FMs and do a shoot for them, invites pending.

Very true, Goans and Anglo Indians are hot targets for Turntables and LP record collections. We used to know a lot of Anglo Indian families back in the day in Chennai and I must say, they had loads of records. Infact if there were teenagers in the house, each of them tended to have their own record collections. Unfortunately, a lot of these people have immigrated to the UK or Australia, and have sold off their properties and collectables for a pittance. I once knew an Anglo-Jewish family in Kochi who had a Garrard 301 turntable. But they gave it off (with their house and property) to a priest before I could get to them (if I did on time, I would have got it for free). The priest got himself a huge paycheque when he sold all the stuff but he donated the earnings to the Church (a noble cause in the end). But that was one of my big misses. Most of Anglo Indian record collections ended up usually with the scrap pickers who go from house to house. Even my dad gave his 200+ strong 78 collection off to a scrap guy who came to buy old newspapers. I was too small to understand the consequences and resist. :(
