I completed overhaul of main bearing and motor. Oil enriched after cleaning main bearing and motor grease changed with new Lithium based grease. Put new 3-wire mains chord and new RCA cable. Mains earth ground connected to motor chassis screw.

This is my (not so secret) tool to listen motor noise.;)

Pickup of Guitar's tuner connected to guitar amplifier in full volume.

Guitar tuner's pickup attached to motor body without getting in path of idler wheel.

Now motor started, TT rotating platter. With locking nut loose, tuned play of motor armature while its near to tight and minimum axial play and listening minimum noise. Now its freely rotating without any noise, and from guitar amp-speaker I can listen low hum of AC motor at full volume, that's all!.

Now it has broken V-blocks into tonearm. Still played fine with Shure M97xe. now plinth remains for this.

Good acquisition Om. Looks to be a Italian model (which used to come in black colour).

My experience is that the tonearm does not do justice to the TT.

Cheers.

omishra, could you try the idler arm tweak ? ie damp the arm moving the idler wheel with plumbers tape ? the background noise reduces quite a bit

regarding hearing motor noise..the japanese engineers from Micro Sieiki used to use the Screwdriver with the point on the chassis and the wooden/plastic part on the ear...try it its an amazing snd simple method (for those who dont have a guitar amp ) ;) )

It is looking very nice after painting. I like the standoff idea. When did you mount that Jelco tonearm? How is the sq?Mine is still on food containers.

Sachin

beautifully done ! since you are not placing this on anything Heavy, damping the top plate from below should remove some vibrations

Very well done Raghu and it looks fantastic. What's the amount of time and effort this took you?

Cheers

Thank you RP,

Just spent 1 hour to remove all parts and 1 hour to fix all,
plating and powder coat has taken 3 days time, because we have depend others to do those jobs. This TT is user friendly to restore(grease and re bearing) compare other TTs.
spent very less expenses to get that shape. only spent approx 500/- for all.
Thanks,
Raghu

Your project has given me some great ideas. can't find the time to sit with it yet. Mine is still in this shape:

But I'm talking to friends to try and source a broadcast tonearm.
