Any idea on Tanotis Stand on Ebay? They cost Rs.980 (for 4 Nos). It seem to have great options. But I don't know about quality. Any idea on its quality?

Tono systems have mounts named HT-55. Does anybody have them? Review on Quality, Options, Costs please

I did a small math (may be wrong).

Right now, I have V-Guard Crystal Plus which says 600VA (200V*3A). Considering Power Factor, it may support less than 600W.

But it works fine for 940W now - my TV (125W), DTH STB (25W approx - don't know) and HTB (790Wapprox = 250W + 5*100W + 40W).

This is more than 20% stretch. It should have blown out fuse. Luckily, it didn't. I am afraid that this may fail someday. So, I am going to buy another stabilizer.

Probably, V-Guard Digi 200 which 1.2KVA to power HTB (and Xbox + Kinect). And leave existing 0.6 KVA stabilizer to TV, DTH, BluRay, etc.

I m really sorry that I have not tried/seen any other brands! I never had a reason that I only had tower speakers before. And custom made stands, following a jenefas buy for my older bookshelves. I 'upgraded' from jenefas because that wasn't what I needed. Also I wasn't expecting miracles for that price.

I watch regularly Tata sky HD. few movies display ' Dolby Digital plus' as sound format in HD box. So my concern is, does it show in AVR YHT 299, as plus when you watch HD box?

In YHT-299, TS HD channels shows as "Dolby Digital" and all speakers work as it should (separated channels) and the display on the AVR shows all speakers icons glowing. But only Zee Cinema HD shows "PCM" (Pulse-code modulation) and only 3 speakers icon glow (Sub, Front Left and Right), which means Zee Cinema doesn't have Digital 5.1 Audio yet. Same PCM audio in all SD channels as well.
I believe it supports Plus.
P.S. I am using optical cable for Audio

I did all the connection tonight and i could hear music through USB/ hear my cable connection audio through (RCA).

However the issue is, when i play movie through USB on my LG LED TV, I am not able to hear Audio from ARC. I have connected HDMI cable and connected at HDMI (ARC) in LED tv to HDMI OUT (ARC) in AVR. Please guide & advise what's the issue. Via this connectivity I could see SET UP on my TV, however when I change the mode to USB in my LED TV and play my movies, I could not hear any Audio, even though i set my Audio to External Speakers in my TV

Try to connect Optical cable (TV Output > AVR Input) and check whether it works.

I'm using ARC.. No need for an extra optical cable.. Check your home theatre set up.. You'll have hdmi setup.. In that there is an ARC option.. Turn it ON..

Next time, when you switch on TV, Home theatre will automatically switch ON and go to AV4 mode which says TV.

Same way, when you switch on home theatre, TV will turn on

Still Same Issue:

AVR setup:
hdmi control - on
audio output - Auto
TV Audio Input - AV4
Standby Sync - Auto
ARC - ON

In TV, when I change the mode to USB and play movie, the AVR shows "HDMI OUT" in Red under AV4.

Please guide if I have to do any other change.

Note: AV4 is a optical jack which I am not using, in that case, should the TV Audio Input should be something else ?
Please note the HDMI cable is connected to HDMI (ARC) in TV and HDMI Out (ARC) in AVR

My AVR settings are same as yours.. Couldn't guess your issue..

Initially when I got HTB, ARC didn't work for me.. I played around settings in both TV & HTB.. Finally it worked

Mine is also LG TV 47LA6620

Can you check Simplink settings in TV? Whether it On and uses External speaker?

Are you using cable or DTH?

Because of Simplink, I'm able to Control my phillips BDP (connected to AVR) using my TV remote

FINALLY I got YHT-299 delivered on saturday, I completed installing all 3 sides on my own. On rear left I have to put wholes for hanging speaker and it is still pending. I setup HTS in coimbatore and my workplace is Bangalore. Missing it badly.

Here are my queries,
I can see lots of options like Neo cinema, Neo music which I'm not familiar of can someone briefly explain what are those options I'm googling as well.

Reliance installation guy was pathetic he just came put 4 speakers in straight line connected it to show demo. When I asked him for installation he said it would charge around Rs 2000 for channels, wire + installation labour charge. I dont have yamaha tech available in coimbatore for proper configuration.

YPAO is not good for my setup as my hall is little open

Welcome to the club, Glad you got YHT-299, Looks like in very few places we have the stock.

Yeah, the installation guys might not do a good job. Take time and you can set it up, it will be easy.( not a kind of rocket science) You can do a better job in installing on your own (IMO) in placing the speakers. Some of our FM had same problem in installation, so i have installed on my own, it took an hour and i started to explore the options on my own with the help of FM's.

I feel only one good thing with the installation guys are, they can help us to place the wires in a closed enclosure kind of stuff (not getting the exact name ) in the wall. I observed that you can negotiate in that also. I had a chat with 2 different guys from the same place charging different, one asked 65 rs per Mt and other is 75, so i would say you can negotiate in that . Other than that you can do everything on your own.

YPAO - No comments on it, I also didnt try it so far.

YPAO seems to be good only if you have a closed room live a bed room etc. If you are setting up of in hall/ living room and if the hall is big, YPAO would not give you the desired results. Also there needs to be complete silence while testing YPAO.

I tried YPAO and didn't find the results favourable. hence configured it manually.

Yesterday a guy from yamaha came and did few setting changes in the Equalizer which I had kept as off before. He also did the distance (feet) calculations of the speakers that I have kept and changed it the setup. Hmm... it's ok but he was appreciative of the fact that I did all the set up and installation on my own

As people have said, it's not too difficult to set up. These extra settings like NEO etc., can be tried just for variations. Otherwise, i usually keep it in 5ch while listening to music and to Spectacular while viewing movies.

Congratulations and Welcome to the club. It is good that you have installed it yourself. The pathetic experience with Reliance guys is not a surprise at all. So, it is always good if we can do it ourselves.

Coming to your queries, Neo Music, Neo Cinema, Pro Logic, PL2 Music, PL2 Movies all the surround sound modes. They are supposed to help you get virtual 5.1 output when you are playing from any 2 channel source. Personally, I dont use these modes too much. When I am playing from a 5.1 source I always go for straight mode. For standard 2 channel sources, I usually go for 5Ch Stereo mode.

YPAO did not work for me either. Even my living room is kind of open. I did try YPAO, but was not really happy with the results. So, did everything manually.

Neo is psuedo 5.1 setup for the movies which are not encoded in 5.1 setup. it's developed by DTS systems in a simillar manner dolby developed prologic.

if you are watching movies in real 5.1 and decoder is on you don't need to do anything with settings.

But if you have a movie in 2.0 channel and want it to convert it to 5.1 on your system then you can choose prologic or dts neo but it'll not be a discreet or real 5.1.

planning to buy this yamaha yht 299 will audiotion in 2days. but at the same price range or slightly more we can get these two setups as well

1. yamaha receiver+ boston acoustics xs 5.1
2. yamaha receiver+Jamo s426 hcs 3

out of these three which one would be the winner. if anyone auditioned please comment. i can only audition jamo and yamaha though but not boston.
