Just bought Yamaha YHT-299

Speakers Placement YHT 299

Please find attached my proposed AV set up. The descriptions are self-explanatory.

I need suggestions on Speakers placement, Subwoofer placement and which way speaker cables for Surround Left (SL) should come? I am asking this because if cabling is done separately for SL & SR additional piping shall have to be done either side which may compromise on the looks. As of now, the cables run behind the sofa on the walls. This way SL Speaker has consumed around 7-8 feet additional cable as compared to when cabling were done separately for SL & SR. Will it compromise on sound quality? I am using 14AWG Monoprice speaker cables for SL & SR. Please suggest the best possible ways for AV set up under present Apartment Living Room constraints.

Try to squeeze in something, at least an HDMI and Optical cables (each worth around 700/-).
Most vendors sell YHT299 for Rs. 34k-35k without any freebies (I got it for Rs.34k without anything on 1st Nov'14). In case you buy it at the advertised price of Rs.36900/- add a 2k-3k more and get a BD player thrown in. They generally give you the basic Philips one.

If no freebies try to get around Rs.1000/- shaved off from Rs.36K. Ask around, someone will definitely sell for lesser amount.

It is available in eBay for 39k, seller feedback is good. I didn't find yht299 in other online stores. Ht store offered yht2910 for 42k, and denon500+ba xs for 46k. My budget was around 40k. I am totally confused between these.

YHT-2910 is pretty much the same as YHT-299 so not worth the additional moolah. While buying from Ebay just ensure the warranty is valid and that its a trusted seller. I haven't bought much from Ebay. But I still think 39K is a bit more. I don't think there is any way of even knowing if this would be a fresh piece or a demo model from somewhere! Is it? Try looking around in some other Brick and Mortar stores.

No idea about Denon500 package. I think some seasoned members can help you out here.

I was about to buy YHT-2910 for 40K. After reading this thread I believe YHT-299 could save me around 6K..

Unless of course you have extra cash lying around. Keep in mind apart from this you'll have to invest in:
1. HDMI Cable
2. Optical cable (if your TV lacks ARC)
3. BD Player

Reliance Digital in Mumbai seems to have them in stock. Grabbed one for 32K from Ghatkopar. RD Express in Viviana Mall Thane informed me that they have around 30 of them in stock. I am also assuming they have a common inventory.

Wow!! 32K is a steal!! Is it a brand new piece or a demo one?

I am thinking to sell my recently purchased YHT-299 as I am not using the speakers at all apart from using it for couple of weeks at the time of purchase as I have moved to AJ speakers. Selling speakers alone will not earn good response hence decided to sell the entire package.

It's a hard decision as I thought of using it in my bedroom setup in future. But I am not sure when that future will come and i don't want to keep it idle at home. :sad:

It is still under warranty. Will post the pics along with the price expected on the Sales forum page over the weekend.

He bought from bass n treble for 34 k . I was getting one from reliance digital (demo piece ) shahdara for 30.3 k and if paid 2k extra a Samsung bd player with it. They first said fresh piece will be delivered and after checking database prices, denied for it saying only demo piece available.

Finally I got the 299 from Reliance Digital for 34K without any freebies. They said, they got a few new pieces.
