LG 2016 OLED Owner's Discussion

Hi Shaiju, I just read your old post that LG is replacing ur E6. That's bit surprising to me but good if its really happening. Wonder we pay so much and expecting a quality product on the first buy, replacement is the last option we have on our minds. Few queries from my side:
1) How did you identify something was wrong wit the display? I mean its very difficult generally to pin point that something is really wrong especially may be small deviations
2) On my E6 I seem to notice some clouding/light bleeding issues when the picture is mix of bright n dark scene (nothing noticeable on the brigher side but there seems to be a haze/clouding on the darker patch). How do you make sure something is really wrong again? Call up LG and ask them to visit?
3) Lastly who decides that panel must be replaced and what is the ceiteria?

Thanks!

I know. I noticed the issue with my replacement set and raised it immediately with LG.
Multiple technician visits and then a guy from Pune came over to check the problem. They offered me a C7 replacement (and it came home as well but I refused). They offered E7 if I paid extra thousands. Their offers were ridiculous.

Now I just noticed the TV has developed vertical lines (at least 3) on the left top of the screen. There was another technician visit today and I hope they will act soon to replace.

The best of the international companies are "Indianised" when they set shop here. No sense of customer service.

Nope I'm on a 55"! Installed it in the living room of the new house we are shifting to in about a week's time, so haven't really tested the TV yet.

Any suggestions for a decent wireless soundbar to go with? I was thinking about the Philips Fidelio, but decided to go for something less expensive.

Try latest Samsung M series. The M6501/650 are really good but they don't come with sub. Try lower in the M series and they are good; better than the others.

on my B6 with the latest firmware, the youtube & netflix app got updated, any idea what are the changes? also when watching youtube on the tv,
is there a way we can see what resolution the videos are playing on?

Cheers.

There is no difference between the E7/C7/B7 this year other than design. Pick up the C7 - it is far better than the previous year's E6.

On Youtube playback controls, there is a last button named more or more options, which would open a new set of buttons.

Click on the bug icon named stats.
Video resolution, Current playback resolution, current network bandwidth etc are shown as an overlay over the video.

Never noticed those options, thank you :clapping:

has anyone tried the inbuilt media player? does it play all latest codecs you get 4k hdr torrent downloads in (h265, atmos etc)?

Guys, I just bought a C7 65-inches and it's being delivered and installed tomorrow (Oct 7th). I'd appreciate if you guys could tell me all the do's and don'ts from your experience of owning OLED TVs and also calibration for great picture quality and keeping this TV durable as it's quite an expensive TV. My last TV Samsung plasma f8500 broke down last year after 3 years of usage! Thanks :)

congrats on your purchase

i have the prev samsung model e8000 so would love to hear your feedback after you use it for some time esp with regular content like dth, non-4k media etc

It's alright with HEVC but atmos is hit or miss, I had 2 movies to test, one 4k which didn't work and one 1080p that did work.

I love my b6. I got 800 hrs @ about 80% gaming (ps4pro) and 20% youtube. When I first got my b6 it exhibited banding, streaks, a couple stuck pixels and image retention, but all these cleared up as the tv stabilized with use. Also burn in is very real (I cannot emphasize this enough) AVOID NEWS CHANNELS. Especially cnn and msnbc as they are known to cause burn in (more appropriately called uneven wear/aging) from their persistent ui elements (logos, tickers, feeds etc). Bright fully saturated reds and yellows are main culprits. Also be aware that the most recent fw 5.30.02 added HLG compatability but also raised the black level (pixels no longer turn completly off when showing black).

My LG OLED C7 got installed yesterday and initially I wasn't too impressed and thought that it didn't match my previous Samsung Plasma PQ, but after making some minor tweaks in the settings, the picture quality is simply great even for Tata Sky HD channels. To test, I watched regular Bluray Man of Steel movie and also watched Wonder Woman on Tata Sky Showcase, the PQ was superb. I certainly felt justified paying this huge amount for this TV!! :) Now I'm just waiting to watch some 4k content!! :)

guys I have the budget model lguj752t. Hulu is not installed nor does it exist in Lg content store. Anyway to sideload app on webos 3.5
