Congrats!

Those HD channels (even though 1080i) will make LG shine. It takes about 5 days in Mumbai for delivery and setup. What about B'lore?

Edit: Plus 24 hours post installation to activate HD channels.

Congratulations Vivek. I had my Tatasky installed the very next day after the purchase. Since i already a Tatasky connection at home the activation was immdiate. Call the CC and insist on getting installation and activation Tommorow.

Shailu, is it the way the lighting has been set up in the room or your photography but i do not see much reflection coming from the panel.

have you clocked 100 hrs yet on the panel? Need to know firsthand from you the performance post the break in period.

Shaiju I think what you need is HD Media player.. and some nice tower speakers..

but this is nice....and indeed looks good

I don't have any windows facing the display. There is a tube light located opposite as you see in one of the pic. Even then the reflection is not too bad. The reflection is bad only when there is strong light source in the room like that in stores. Most people post pics of reflection with nothing playing and that IMO does not present a true picture. Can you upload a pic of your room from a distance?

I had reached almost 100 hours on my previous display. There was drastic improvement in PQ. Colors were much more settled. The new one has clocked nearly 30 hours.

Will try and upload pics with a better cam next time.

Yes, rightly said. I also feel the need for a HD player. Not sure if it is gonna be dedicated bluray or media player. I have read quite a bit on blurays but have no clue about media players. Put up Sony HTS DAV-DZ390K for sale on ebay.in. Maybe a HD player if the transaction falls through.

Speakers are out totally out of my league. Need lots of advice but that's later on. Can you guys help me on some good HD player and matching speaker (prefer quality sound in place of earth shattering). I'll start saving for them.

The TV unit was good for the 37" Samsung. A bit small for the 50"er and my growing DVD collection. I may get a DVD + bookshelf rack in couple of months and revamp the TV cabinet. No plans to wallmount.

Nice pics Shaiju, also about the video, is that SD content playing on your display? or is the video shot in SD ?

SD content - DVD of SATC1. Digicam is SD, even worse .

The video was shot using some rather shoddy default digicam settings. Think it could not handle the frames properly and so all the judder.

Shaiju, my hall is perpendicular and light itself is naturally controlled. We have a 7 storey buling under construction directly opposite our windows hence all direct sunlight or excess light is blocked during day time.

I somehow could not see the "mirror" like reflection that lot of people have been speaking about in the pics.

Hey, that is because in a light controlled enviornment there is hardly any reflection. Many of the general opinion comes from demo viewing in brightly lit stores. Don't see reason why you should be worried if there is no direct source of light. I switch off the tubelight and turn on the zero bulb or spotlights in my room. I remember having posted similar concern before purchase.

Alright finally got my tata sky HD box installed and all HD channels running too... and I have to say the word is WOW , watching it on a 50 inch plasma....even with the breakin settings....

so all in all a good deal and nice PQ.. even on SD... HD channels as has been said many times... is different world...

so yes the child had got his candy......) next mission .. HD Media player.....he he he is there any end of this madness

Thanx shaiju, i will definitely bother you in near future.....i think too much time has been spent by in understanding the pros and cons of this model, need to decide quickly and make a decision.

I have been simultaneously researching on the HD media player as well. Zeroed on "WD LIVE PLUS" and "AC RYAN PLAYONHD" post going through threads on our forum.

Do let me know once you are done with your but and decided.
