LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LW6500 Owner's Thread

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

Did a quick visit to Croma yesterday.

LG 42LW5700 - a good display. The bezel styling is somewhat akward but nothing obscene. The demo 3D content looked really nice. Without the 3D glasses on you can clearly see the horizontal stripes due to the nature of technology driving 3D. With glasses untrained eyes will not notice the loss in resolution. Picture is crisp and stable. From an angle, 3D did not suffer too much. Neither did the colors or contrast. The demo was just for 30-40 mins, so maybe further probe would establish off-axis viewing angles. Sadly could not check 2D on the same panel. Printed selling price 74,000.

Samsung 46D6600 - fantastic value for money if you don't want the higher 7000 model. The bezel is thin and sleek. In a dark room the display would look like a hung painting. Reflection pretty much present due to glossy screen. Not much of a problem once pictures are on. It attracts finger prints too. Off-axis viewing may be a problem for many. The blacks become bluish. 2D picture is amazaing. No chance to demo 3D. Printed selling price 1,20,000.

Next time I will look out for bleeding factor and a side-by-side comparison.

Hi,

Does anyone know when is the 55inch version of LW6500 is getting released in India? Wanted to get an idea about the pricing before deciding between LW5700 and LW6500.

LW6500 55" is not released and no news till now. But as per the price difference in the 47" models you may expect LW6500 55" to be priced around 15K more than LW5700

What made you decide 55 will be only 15k more ?

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

After much delay on account of my laziness (and long office hours at times), i've scheduled a visit for the LG engineer to look at the light leaking at the corners of my 42LW5700. Hopefully, he'll visit today and look at it. Will post an update based on what transpires.

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

Hi guys,

Just bought a 47LW6500 and was delivered to home.
First they showed me a demo piece and I could easily tell by looking at the packing and the scratches on the back. I asked for a brand new sealed piece and they ordered for one. The packing was perfect and no marks at all anywhere (They opened the seal right in front of me).

Pretty happy with the purchase @ 1.2L. Was offered 55LW5700 @ 1.4L along with a free 320gb portable hard disk. My father wanted the extra real estate but we had no place to fit it in, so settled with the 47" 6500.

Installation will be done by LG people tomorrow. Waiting eagerly :)

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

I recently bought the 47LW5700 but I can't seem to find the local dimming settings. Does anyone know where I can locate them?

Presuming that the remote and display are the same as in the LW6500 - you can get it by pressing the "Guide" key( centre button ) above the 4 coloured buttons. You can then select the different options,Picture/ Sound etc by pressing the "OK" key and then set it, when the bar is displayed.( save it under "Expert1"/ "Expert2"). There is a another " Q Menu" top right to the cursor pad, which has a limited number of settings.

LG has one of the lousiest menu & settings screen, and also remote key layout, I have ever used. :mad:My set is a month old, and to date there is no sign of the company rep. to help in the set up. and also the " magic remote" is still not available!
I am still not able to use the Internet options: any help on this will be more than welcome.

I can find the menus, but there isn't a local dimming option (as far as I can see) in the regular picture settings or expert control. Is it under a different name? Honestly the picture looks good regardless, however I would like to mess around with it.

If you purchased in the US, then the 5700 will not have local dimming. 5600 will have the feature and with better specifications.

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

Update on my experience with my 42LW5700..

- Light Bleed in corners: I'd raised a complaint to LG on this. After some delay from their side in responding, a technician visited my place. He didn't find anything amiss and I had a hard time convincing him that it's an issue. He took a picture and said he'll send it to their head office with details on my complaint. 4 days later, a new TV was delivered to me. Unfortunately, it has similar light bleed. I've now made peace with it as a drawback of edge-lit technology. With local dimming on high and with lights on, i don't see it.
- Motion Issues: I've started noticing some jerky movement with TruMotion enabled on HD channels (Discovery, Nat Geo being worst affected), especially on pans. It's a bit hit and miss and doesn't affect all channels and all content. The issue goes away if i turn TruMotion off. Will need to do some more research on it to make conclusions.

On a side note, I've applied CNET's David Katzmaier's settings for a LW5700 he reviewed recently. Looks good.

i discovered that my 55lw5700 is missing the magic remote.
i told the dealer, he says that it dont come with it, but during demo he showed it.

is it true, that we have to purchase the magic motion remote seperately or should it come along with the set.?
