LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LW6500 Owner's Thread

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

i discovered that my 55lw5700 is missing the magic remote.
i told the dealer, he says that it dont come with it, but during demo he showed it.

is it true, that we have to purchase the magic motion remote seperately or should it come along with the set.?
You should have fixed the deal with Magic Remote. It doesn't come with the TV as I know.

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

Could anyone who's recently purchased the LW5700 in India share their firmware version? Thanks.

i have a 55lw5700
negatives : little bit color bleeding ( not much noticable , can be ignored actually, dont pay too much attention to it)
tvmenu & sound is quite crappy, luckily im using it with my home theatre so dont have to use its menu and tvs speakers ( i found sony tv's menu & speaker much superior)

overall tv is good.. i like it
also the 3d is ok

special mention : do get a tatasky HD ... HD channel looks amazing on it

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

kindly throw the tatasky and take any other hd dth,, u will love your tv.. i own lg 50" plasma its amazing....customer service is the best in comparable to any brand in world, but the quality of components are too bad.. my advice is to take annual maintainance contract scheme for 5 years,, no worries about ur tv....i prefer active 3d , to my eyes samsung 3d was way way superior to lg ,, so going for samsung,, but just change ur tatasky to reliance/ dish/sun hd.. u will find the worth of tv..its like wearing a woodland shoe with torn socks...
lg rocks in clarity but beware of early repairs,, so kindly take amc....

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

Hi,

It has been 3 weeks since I have bought my 47" lw6500 and i dont see any light bleed as many reported. I have checked multiple times with no lights on and with a nearly black screen. I have set backlight to around 50 and local dimming to low.

I think Tatasky HD is the best HD service in India with max number of true HD channels(6 at the moment)(I am not counting Sun Direct's local movies and video songs :)) and also providing all event based HD channels for just 50 rs. Star Cricket and ESPN will be added soon as full time HD channels.

@ drkavint, can u tell me what price u were qouted for 5 yr AMC scheme?
I was qouted 31.5k for my 47LW6500( bill price 1.35l). I thought it was too much.

@ sri072, great to know that your set doesn't show any light bleed. With local dimming on, it doesn't for me either on a completely black screen. However, if I go to the No Inputs screen, and switch off the lights, i can see the light bleed. Have you tried that?

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

i paid 18k for 3 years (i.e. total 4 years =1 yr+ 3yrs), i had been offered 27 k for 5 yrs(i.e 6 years= 1 yr+ 5 yrs extra).. this included protection from lightening.. now the same price but no lightening claims..ask for 20% discount of 31k.. thats what my dealer gave me. threaten him that u will put amc from neighbouring district service man, who is ready to give discount/ say u will opt online pay, which offers 20%.. he will surely come down..

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

Hi,

I just bought a 42" LG LW5700 Cinema 3D set this weekend (for Rs. 78,300 with Tata Sky HD free - LG Shoppe, Banjara Hills, Hyd). It was delivered yesterday and should be installed today or tomorrow. Will post my initial feedback as soon as possible and will be glad to answer any queries from prospective buyers.

Cheers.

I have recently purchased 3 Samsung 46" smart LED's (3D is standard). I want to make one home theatre & am looking for a suitable 3D Blu Ray player (which can also play HD-DVD's & CD's). I would be oblidged about your LG LW5700 experience. Please inform me whether you are satisfied & whether I too should buy it. (what does it cost?). I was considering the Dune Blue Ray, but now will await your feedback for which I thank you in advance (in anticipation).
Goodluck

With local dimming off the backlight inconsistency is quite clear. With it on there is very slight loss of shadow detail. That's about it.

Suggest you keep local dimming on at the minimum and then adjust the picture to your taste.

My guess is you will be bored of experimenting with a No Input or completely black screen at some point in time. So then enjoy while the show is on.

He said that the actual price for 5 yrs ( 1 + 4 yrs) is 4 x 9.5k = 38k and after 20% discount it will be 31k. Can u tell me where I can pay online for this and any other details regarding this.

Thank you.

Edit: And also by what time should we opt for AMC. is there any deadline or such?

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

Hello,

Purchased 42lw5700 two weeks back in bangalore. I am generally happy with it. I am no audio video expert buts I did not notice any bleeding etc. Here are few general observations

1. When tv was installed, I had videocon sd connection. The quality was marginally better compared by earlier samsung 32 LCD. I exchanged the sd with hd connection and quality is much better. No complaints.

2. There is one software upgrade and current version is 3.06.04 (I think). It was automatic. The Internet offering is limited. YouTube videos play nicely and quality is better than my d2h.

3. One problem I face is the inability to play dts sound from movies. The only way I could do this was to convert dts to ac3 on pc and then play. It is a time consuming process. I will appreciate if anyone has a better solution.

4. The light dimming settings are hidden in expert picture mode setting.

5. Liked passive 3d. Much lighter on your eyes, particularly for the young ones in the house.

My overall impression: good tv with lot of features.

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

I purchased a 47 LW5700 and just love it, I wanted a good 2D TV and was not sure about purchasing a 3D TV and this fit the bill. I rented a very bad film Gullivers travel in 3D and was quite impressed with the 3D, but was also impressed when it converted the 2D to 3d films or TV shows. Not as good but quite respectable. Very good when I connected my Xbox 360 and played Black Ops, but found the movement slowed, this was evident in 2D or 3D. And as others said, had to be at least 2 meters (6 feet) from the TV to not see any lines. The TV came with 4 pairs of glasses and a Wi-Fi dongle to connect to the web. The TV then updated to the latest firmware. Just for the 2D quality alone I am very satisfied and would buy the TV again.

I will try to find a better setting to improve the speed for the Xbox play, before on my old LCD I could turn and shoot and it felt natural, now the screen seems to be 1/8 or of a second slower, so when I see a bad guy playing Black Ops online, I am getting shot before I can react.

Well !!!!! I think since the TV is new you are a bit delicate or hesitant to shoot at it ;), give it a little time I am pretty sure you will shoot the bad guys left right center .... :)

I think you need to calibrate your tv to avoid the gaming lag.

Re: LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LX6500 Owner's Thread

Hi guys,

I feel that the 3d glasses given for free (ag-f 110) are of low quality and very delicate.
I want to buy the ag-f 210 glasses which i think would be of better quality.
Is anyone using these glasses? If yes, can u tell me how they are and where i can find them?
I've asked the local dealer and doesn't have much idea about them but he told me they might cost around Rs 500-550 a piece.
