Movies Discount and Offer threads :D

Amazon UK's 3 BD's for 17 offer is back starting today. Amazon UK appears to be having some problems with this promo so wait a bit before using this one. Lot's of good movies on this offer and it runs until 24 March 2013, so plenty of time to take advantage of this one.

Amazon.co.uk: Three Blu-ray Titles for 17

The last time around that Amazon UK ran a similar offer they lightened my wallet rather nicely , but I got quite a haul of some great movies which I am still enjoying.

Las week , I sent email to Amazon US requesting them to bring back Global Super saving. They replied saying that global super saving is still live and applicable to India only.

I then tried to place order ( 145USD) but there was no Global super saving option. After explaining the situation to Amazon , they asked me to go ahead and place the order and send them order number so that they can apply Globalsupersaving from their end.

In the meantime , prices of selected BDs went up so I did not place the order.

That is very nice to know :-) Thanks buddy!

Thanks for the great tip! Landed cost per bluray comes to about 700 INR on final figure including shipping.. lot of region-free available to buy.

Anybody looking for movie deals from UK, can look at two more sites ZAVVI and TheHUT. It seems they both belong to the same group. There is a current offer of 2 for 12GBP (both sites), and 10% off on action titles (only TheHUT). Though they don't have standard shipping option for India at present, the only shipping option is 9.99GBP. So if you try to order a bunch of movies they adds 9.99GBP, irrespective of the order size (I have tested The HUT). There are few titles which are on discount to Amazon, so it is worth a look for comparison. The shipping seems competitive as you'll get a premium trackable shipping at fixed charge (irrespective of movie titles). So you now have one more good option, though not very sure about their customer care etc, in which case Amazon is really great.

Please note they don't give VAT benefit it seems. So the VAT amount is directly being offset against the shipping, which I think is fair.

One can use Play.com also and ship via SnS or iShop.

Be very careful while buying from zavvi. Peeps have been complaining about their packing and customer support all the time.

Also play.com does not accept non-UK credit card. Plus one more thing, play.com and hmv both are closing online operations from march. infact hmv has already closed it's online website.

Hut is commonly used, but be careful with them also. Though their shipping cost is 0.99 GBP per item, They sent my steelbooks in jiffy bag. Lucky for me, they arrived in decent shape. 1 steely had got small dent.

It is really sad that they packaged the item in such a flimsy way. BTW the shipping rate for India TheHUB charges is flat 9.99 GBP for any number of DVD/ BD, the option of 0.99 GBP per item is not applicable for India.

Ya it's 9.99 now. 0_o And delivery is showing "tracked delivery" option only.
When I ordered blade runner and ghostbusters steels from hut, shipping was 0.99 per item.
and delivery option was "International standard delivery".

EDIT : I am not seeing VAT refunded in my final checkout page. Price is still same.

Considering that it is now tracked shipping, the handling should be better. Another good thing is that 9.99 GBP is flat for a single order of any number of BDs.

I don't think they gives VAT benefit, which I believe they offsets against the Shipping charges.

Have you ordered from them anytime? What about customs duty? A small review would make my world a safe place. :D

Just before 10days, I received 2steels from them. Had ordered on 4th jan iirc, and received on 30 th jan iirc. After 15 days I contacted them regarding package status. And they told me to wait till 30jan. If not delivered by then, they will research in further. But on 30th i received both steels.

Like I said shipping was 1.98 Gbp only. And stuff arrived in 2different Jiffy bags. No customs was charged. Bluraymaniac has also dealt with them, and he has experienced good customer support.

i have ordered from ZAVVI, the first set was lost in shipment, so i wrote to the CC, they were quick to respond, and asked me if i want a replacement or a Refund. I gave it one more shot and package came through in 2 weeks.

Shipping is flat 0.99 GBP

I think because of such delivery issues both Zavvi and TheHUT has stopped the standard shipping and only provides tracked shipping.

Kix .. I have not ordered anything as yet, but have created a cart ready to be ordered. I have some issue with my credit card so I am waiting that to be cleared. Considering that they sends by courier companies the chances of escaping the customs is better than the standard one in Mumbai (based on your experience so far).

Though they don't give VAT concession, but many movies are priced quite cheaper to Amazon (UK), also if you buy more than 3/4 titles than the Shipping charges are also lower than Amazon (UK).

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
