Kix.. the site is good if you are planning to buy a single DVD, as there is no shipping charges. You need to be careful in ordering as most titles are the translated version and may or may not have English track. Also the english subtitle is also missing in many. I can see very few box or collections which normally are cheaper in UK version, thus making the per BD costs affordable. Search engine is really bad. When I searched for spider man it showed none of the movies. But it seems they have lot of official adult content including 3D title. That is interesting for those who are interested. ;)
 
It is very encouraging to note about "the HUT". But one must order at least 6 BDs for the shipping to be cheaper than Amazon:

The HUT 6 BDs shipping: 9.99
Amazon, UK 6 BDs shipping: (1.49 x 6) + 2.09 = 11.03
 
Guys- about Grooves : fast, reliable and honest people, but can be very SWISS ! As mentioned, their search engine is very bad - often the very titles you want are available but will not show up unless typed in exactly how they have it listed. For eg . " Black and White" brings you zero but " Black & White" may get you the title you want!

German prints usually have an alternate English track, but be warned exotic titles may have you scratching your head .... Good luck

Kix .. I have not ordered anything as yet, but have created a cart ready to be ordered. I have some issue with my credit card so I am waiting that to be cleared. Considering that they sends by courier companies the chances of escaping the customs is better than the standard one in Mumbai (based on your experience so far).

Though they don't give VAT concession, but many movies are priced quite cheaper to Amazon (UK), also if you buy more than 3/4 titles than the Shipping charges are also lower than Amazon (UK).

With no VAT refund, the order cost even for a significantly large order is not really cheap. The problem with a high cost order is that it is sure to attract customs duty. I just cancelled my order.
 
I think logically TheHUT and Zavvi are good if you can find titles which are cheaper than Amazon, like I have figured out that

1. Spiderman Trilogy is 8.96 GBP (with coupon code ACTION10), against 11.25 GBP at Amazon. So with 20% Vat discount the price at Amazon will be 10GBP or so.

2. SUPER-8 is 6GBP against 11.1 at Amazon (13.97-2.8 Vat)

So if you can find few such titles where it is available at a discount to Amazon, then it takes care of the Shipping difference as well (say about 4).

So in that case, the landed cost from Amazon and TheHUT will be same (without customs), and any if you can order few more such titles then you'll be gaining. The big plus is that it is a trackable shipping, which means that they are not going to use the regular sarkari postal network.

Customs is purely luck. In any case, the customs considers the total cost incl Shipping, so it will be similar in both the cases.
 
I have tried to order 3 blu ray movies for 17 pounds offer.

It does not seem to show total as 17 pounds.

What am I doing wrong here?

It works . I just tried. Check the figure in promotions applied section on the final order page. It looks like this -> Total value -VAT+shipping handling-promotions = final ammount .

Also , just double check that you are selecting qualifying movies only.

Question: Has the Post Master General in Mumbai GPO changed? He got transferred to Bangalore and Banglore babu came here? :D

I know they are not great ones, but it is cheap also occasionally when you wish to see a mindless action movie, you can look at it. :ohyeah:

BTW, the price has come down now to 12GBP, so post VAT 9.6GBP.
