My home theater

Hello Karthi !
Thank you for your compliments, reg your doubt the focusing of the image is at the point of the projector only wall is only displaying it, so no worry of curved wall, it will show you the crystal clear image at every point on the wall. For your note almost all the cine theater screens are curved. (No spl lens required).

Hi, Murali,

I have just completed the Room ( both exterior/interior are plastered). Now pls let me know how to go ahead with Acoustic door similar to your.

Any Idea how to go for Windows if I use Aluminium with High Gauge sheets and 6 mm glass. In your room which type of upvc windows are there - sliding or casement type? I have contacted the UPVC dealer but their quote is on very higher side. Any DIY route to make windows for Home theater rooms.

Regards,
Samrat

Hello Samrat !
Sorry for my late reply, My windows are not sliding type the are opening out side type. The UPVC windows would be around 400-450/- per sq.feet.
I think Aluminium windows sliding type may give rattling sound when bass is high.

Hi Murali,
Thank you for your reply. What about your Door? How the acoustic treatment has been done? Here in Kolkata upvc is priced at Rs.750/800 sq/ft and other charges. So discarding the plan of UPVC. Now I will go for opening out type window with 2mm aluminium frames and 6 mm glass with all rubber gaskets. Any Idea will this arrangement will work fine.

Hello Samrat,
If you put a thick curtain screen to the window i think it will solve the purpose.
Regarding the door i have three door's of Plywood Flush doors (3.5" x 6.6" and 2.5" x 6.6") all of them covered with jute fabric inside a 12 mm foam for size approx 2 - 2.5" x 5.6" as you can see in 8 & 9 photos in this thread.

Hello Samrat,
Sorry for my late reply. Yesterday i tried to find any fault in the picture quality, but i find nothing distorted and its crystal clear image at every point. The only thing i find very very little disturbance to the eyes is the bottom of the image which falls as straight line, so the both ends in the bottom of the screen remains vacant, i think you will understand my point by seeing the images attached ( Its the same thing you can see in most theaters were the screens are curved ). So i think there is no Pincushion effect for a slight curved screen. Its 1.25 feet depth in the center for 13 feet width screen.

As per your request i have posted some pictures.

Murali,

you are not using anamorphic lens, so won't get pincushion. Instead you are using a curved screen without lens hence both ends are vacant. This is called a barrel distortion.

Hello manoj,
Thankyou for your clarification, I think its good for me without additional lens.
Hello Falco and ravidharap,

My 2cents :D
Regarding the Barrel distortion , if you don't intend to fix it via an anamorphic lens, how about painting the delta uncovered part in black so that the white patch which is not rendered is not obvious ?

Btw, awesome HT setup.

I suppose if you paint the ceiling black or dark gray the image quality would improve.

Hello fillmore !
I didnt find any problem viewing, i also thought to blacken the bottom vacant space, but it may look not that good...for me and my family enjoy it & for entertainment its enough, and i dont want to invest more on anamorphic or other improvements.
Thankyou,

Murali.
